Overall Take: One of my favorite products of all time! Funny to see all the other people on here who use it as a sunscreen and a fragrance as I do. Gotta love products that multitask. I use mine daily, applying a small amount to my legs, arms and body for moisture but mostly for the fragrance. It isn't too greasy and has an amazing scent! Reminiscent of plumeria and papaya...the fragrance is beachy and comforting like a hot sunny day. Works well as a tanning oil too. I have olive skin* and with this product alone I can sit in the sun for days on end and get a golden tan with no burning. Paired with Maui Babe, this product gives me a perfect, natural looking deep, dark golden tan.My favorite triple threat: a fragrance, a moisturizer and a tanning oil/sunscreen all in one! And a bottle lasts me a whole year, again, awesome.Main Negatives: The bottle could be sexier, but that's the whole Hawaiian Tropic line of packaging for you: basic and very "discount drugstore" looking.*most skin types should not do this I realize, the sun can be dangerous :)

This is my all time favourite (and pretty much only) sun lotion I buy. To be honest, I dont really buy it for sun protection but mostly for the smell. Coconutty and beachy, I turn to this year round when I want to have a nice 'pick me up'. I kinda wish I could find a perfume/body spray that smells like this but no coconut scent I've ever found has smelled as beachy and tropical as this does.

This has been my summer staple for 10+ years. It gives me the nicest dark brown tan and protects me from getting burned at the same time. It's not heavily scented and sinks right in. I use this at the pool instead of the beach so that there is not an oil-slick over the pool. I use it on my face sometimes and it doesn't break me out.

I love this stuff. It helps me get my naturally NC37 skintone to about an NC42/44 so easily! I didn't burn or anything. Very moisturising and not too sticky or greasy, and the smell is nice.

This product can give you a nice tan, but if you are very pale you will definitely burn. I'm not very paie (medium tone skin with some fairness to my face and neck), but I burned some with this product. It doesn't have enoug SPF protection (you should use SPF15 or higher for a lower risk of premature skin aging and skin cancer prevention). I recommend this if you already have a tan and don't sit out in the sun all day either. But I don't recommend it for first time tanners or people with extreme pale skin. Not enough SPF protection...

I bought this in Hawaii, hoping to get a tan. But i went home still being pale. I have asian skin, so i'm pretty fair, and i usually get burned instead of getting a tan. Even if i get a tan, it'll fade. Which is why the product probably didn't work on me. The packaging is horrible, it is hard to try to get the product out of the bottle.

Now, I am not an avid tanner, but when I go on holiday, I aim to get the darkest tan possible. Dark Tanning Lotion SPF 4 is enriched with vitamins A, C & E, which leaves my skin very moisturised & smooth. It is also waterproof, but of course if you're swimming, make sure you reapply as soon as you come out the water as the sunscreen becomes slightly less effective when submerged in water. I find Hawaiian Tropic generally quite expensive, so this bottle was no different. I had to have it shipped from the US as it is a hard find here in the UK, so I paid nearly £12 for it. Considering it isn't a high SPF lotion, I think the price is a bit too high. But I only go on holiday 1-2 times per year so I'm not breaking the bank all that much!On my holiday to the Caribbean last year, this is the sunscreen I wore on my body (not on my face, though - I use an SPF 30 there!). I usually prefer spray bottles, but suprisingly, I still quite liked this bottle. It's not a screw-cap bottle, but one where you press the lid down & then squeeze the product out. The lotion itself is quite thick, but not so thick that it doesn't absorb all that well into the skin. It smells very nice - like a gorgeous mixture of fruit & coconuts. Really does get you in the holiday mood!Let me point out that if you have fair skin, you should never use anything below an SPF 15 as your skin is too sensitive to the sun & you will cause some serious damage to your skin. I have olive skin which tans easily & never burns...if you have tan, olive or darker skin, then this sunscreen is suitable for you as it is designed for deep, dark tanning. This sunscreen provides both UVA & UVA protection, so I feel protected whilst I'm in the sun. When using this sunscreen, I am left with a deep tan that looks stunning. On holiday I usually get a tan within 2 days, but this intensified my tan even more. It's enriched with Cocoa Butter and other natural skin conditioners, so this formula helps prevent peeling too...I really like this sunscreen, & I'll definately be using it on my holiday to the Caribbean this year again!
