Honestly i like luster finish well for its sheer coverage. Although dark coloured lip girls becareful because your natural lip colour can change the colour of the lippy when you wear put it on.
Ive got vg gaga and cockney. Cockney is great because its a sheer red and im not much a red lippy lover but this is good enough for me. Vg gaga looks weird on me, it becomes purple ish on me which is unfortunate, the lippy itself is very pretty.
So i think anyone who wants sheer lippy, this is for you :)

i really dont like the Lustre collection in Mac since it doesnt last long on my lips and the color bleeds. i got it in the shade Cockney and i absolutely hate it! the red has way too many shimmers and it makes my lips look abnormally weird. i look like im trying too hard when ever i put it on. plus the shimmer on it rubs off and get all around when i try to take it off. i hate it and i dont know what to do with the rest of it now.

I'm shocked that the lustre finish has such high ratings. This has no staying power at all. It doesn't even last through my 1 hour classes. They also don't stay put on lips, they slip and slide. Imagine talking to someone with lipstick doing that. It's a shame though since MAC releases pretty colors that are lustres. I will just stick with satin finishes.

I have bought "Laugh a lot" shade and I absolutely adore it, its very natural yet adds definition to my lips. This is my very favourite lipstick.
However, I feel like the lipstick is drying my lips, so I usually have to apply balm over or under it :-) (hence why only 4 stars)

I've tried many different l/s formulas, he and ds, and Lustre is my fave. True, the staying power sucks-only lasts a couple hours, at best, when you don't eat or drink anything, but I love it because it's not drying and feels so light on your lips.

This is my favourite lipstick ever. I have dry lips, and I've heard a lot of people complain about this formulation being drying. To me, it isn't drying, but the lipstick sets (see below). If this bothers you, try layering it over a bit of lip balm, or putting a moisturizing gloss on top.
I love this lipstick because it is the perfect natural looking lipstick I've tried. It's not overly-pigmented, but beautiful and has the most "My Lips but Better" shades I've ever seen. It allows a hint of your lips' natural undertones carry through. It's perfect for women with fair skin like mine or who need a work-appropriate lipstick that's not too in-your-face.
They have a wide range of natural shades for all skintones and undertones, as well as some fun colours.
The lipstick, after half an hour to an hour, sets and dries a bit but maintains its colour. After a few hours, the colour fades and you need to reapply. However, I like this because a) I hate eating/drinking with something on my lips, so it's easy to remove (and change colours if I want), and b) it gives me an excuse to reapply my lipstick, making them feel and look awesome.
Most shades have beautiful, natural finishes, but some are frosty, so it gives everyone something to love. (I for one don't like frost finishes, but their non-frost finishes are great).
I am NC15 with yellow undertones, rosacea (so I can't wear bright pink), with very pigmented fuscia-toned lips. My favourite shades are: Midimauve (neutral with slight plum undertone), Syrup (a natural pink-purple, the exact colour of my lips), Hug Me (a nude pink, PERFECT nude colour without looking pale!! Very natural looking, not ghost-like or sick), and Plumful is a deeper hue of Syrup, making it a fun, safe colour for someone who's experimenting with brighter colours. (Note: I recently gave Plumful away. I just never wore it - I love my neutral shades too much!)
I give it 4 Lipsticks, only because the staying power is not what most people expect, however I will be buying and rebuying these lipsticks, and recommend them to anyone.

I love MAC lipsticks but I'm not a fan of MAC's lustre formula. I prefer Amplified or Cremesheen. Although it is very light weight and it gives the feel of not wearing lipstick, the sheer colours from the lustre lipsticks while buildable to a medium coverage is often far too drying and I end up having to apply a lip balm or gloss over it. But it's this dryness, I suppose, which makes the colour stay longer on lips. Also, I like the vanilla flavour.

I don't really like the lustre formula that much. They don't really apply that evenly on my lips. The lasting power is really below par. I had to add a gloss on top to stop it from fading! I love some of the colors but I don't really like the MAC lipstick in general for their short lasting power. I didn't notice the drying that much but I do know that if your lips are dry and cracked to begin with the lipstick will amplify the problem. For me cheap d/s l/s works better and last longer. So, save your moola for e/s and clothes. =)

Pros: No taste no smell. You don't even remember you have lipsticks on. That's a big plus. There's so many colors to choose from, you can find one that suits your skin tone.
Cons: It dries up your lips really quick and has no staying power at all. Usually lipsticks with great staying power dry your lips. But this one, it's dry and it doesn't last. What's up with that? I hate it when it makes my lips so dry, I look like I haven't being drinking water for 2 days. Who cares the color is pretty or not, it makes me look unhealthy.
If you hate lipsticks make your lips crack and you don't like to use lip gloss, stay away from Lustre. The only way to fix the look is to use lip gloss.

I have this lipstick in Syrup (already reviewed with 5 lippies) and just bought Politely Pink - a pale champagne pink. Wow! This sheer lipstick is just perfect over my Lipfusion XXL. I wanted something to cool down that clear glossy look and give my lips a natural, pale but not chalky look. This colour works PERFECTLY to achieve this end.

I B2M for this color and I'm very pleased. It's a shimmery warm nude on me. I think the description 'sticky bun brown' is pretty accurate. I do wish it wore down a little better, though as it wears off the silver sparkles tend to hang out longer on your mouth than the actual lipstick part. I would purchase this color or B2M for it.

I just received my first MAC lipstick ever and I am ever so delighted! I am reviewing the shade Strapless. It is not too appealing in the tube, but when applied, it gives my lips a couple shades darker of a natural-looking lip with a golden glow when the light hits it. Very soft and moisturizing.

I had no idea there was a review for lustres! :D. Anyways, theyre not my favorite. (my faves are Satin, Amp. Creme and frost) but I like them. But you MUST make sure you put some kind of lip balm/chapstick under them or else they really dry my lips out! Lustres are semi sheer (not too sheer though) and Ive been dissapointed with the sheerness of some, although I guess it varys by color. I really like the finish though, gives a nice glossy look. All in all, not my fave formula, but it's up there! Some of my favorite lipsticks are lustres, so there ya go. Would definitely buy them again (although I already have =])

I'm editing my review because I've now discovered that these make my lips crack and peel. Yes, they do. It's a shame because I love several of the colors, especially VGV, but the effect is unmistakable. I can wear Clinique's Long Last Soft Shine formula exclusively for weeks and nothing happens, but if I switch to MAC Lustres for even a few days, my lips start cracking and peeling. I can't wear lip balm under them either to fix the problem because they hardly have any lasting power to begin with. Maybe you won't notice the drying effect if you only wear them occasionally - they feel moist and glossy going on - but if you wear them consistently, they really do dry out the lips just like all MAC's other lipsticks. PASS.

Guess I'm the oddball reviewer here. I just flat out don't like the MAC Lustre formula. Too slippery and glossy for me; I prefer more pigment and staying power. It's not just MAC though - I don't like any of these shiny, glossy lipsticks that so many lines are putting out now. If I want shiny, I'll wear gloss or a liquid lipstick. I like my bullets to be creamy and pigmented. Weird, I guess, but the formula annoys me enough that I don't buy them even if I like the color, and I swapped Hug Me (blasphemy, I know).

Mac lustre lipsticks are the only lipsticks I wear from Mac. I've always been a gloss girl because I hate dry and heavy lipsticks, but Mac lustre lipsticks seriously melt onto my lips like buttah! They are slightly drying so I took off a lippie but generally they give the lips a natural moist and glossy look.

EDIT AGAIN: shove over MAC and Burt's Bees -- it's Organic Makeup Company for Lipsticks and Dr. Hauschka Novum Lipbalm all the way baby!!! here's my original review:niiiice! i'm a CCC (MAC NC45 or CoverFX I40) & got the Lustrous Mauve = a good neutral on me. Sheer. Moisturizes. Great vanilla smell. Nice taste w/out being too conscious of the taste. Works great on top of another colour/lipliner. Even better if you've used lipbalm (like Burt's Bees) with your lipliner then add Lustre on top. Waaaaaaaay better than a whole lotta drug-store moisturizing lipsticks out there eg: Maybelline/L'Oreal/Revlon. EDIT EDIT: move over MAC lustre.. come over to me Burt's Bees!!!! OMG! i love Burt's Bees lipstick!!! it's not as soft as MAC lustre.. but it is very long-lasting and has some moisturizing power. The Eggplant colour is perfect for me!

I am not really a lipstick gal at all...oh lipstick..its not that I don't love the pretty array of shades you come in and the way you make my lips look..it's just that well...you're a pain to reapply sometimes and you're generally drying to my picky lips.
That said I've different experiences with different MAC lipsticks. I don't really like forking over the money for them b/c like I said..don't wear lipstick much. There's been a few shades I've just had to try though b/c they looked very promising and offered me shades and pigmented I couldn't get from a gloss.
My first MAC lipstick purchase was the Bunny Pink Lustre from a couple years ago. Packaging and embossed bunny on the lipstick were just too much for me to handle lol. As my first experience with the lustre formula and MAC lipstick in general I was pretty impressed. Very light feeling on my lips, good pigment, yummy vanilla scent w/ no taste. Bunny Pink also seemed quite moisturizing but decently long lasting on my lips.
Had I only had that one experience it would have been a full 5..awesome lipstick. However..I recently got another Lustre...Freckletone. Never would have guessed it was a Lustre when putting it on my lips. Much much creamier than my Bunny Pink for some reason. Loads of pigment that surprised me. Color good...initial texture is good. But for some reason Freckletone is not as long lasting and actually makes my lips feel dry after about 15-20 minutes..starts to fade around the same time. Two different shades...same formula..but very different results on my lips.
Regardless..to me they are still above average lipsticks. I like both shades but just wish the 'felt' the same on my lips. I still have my eyes on Hug Me, Fresh Brew, High Tea, and possibly Plink! All which are lighter colors which I think tend to work better with this formula.

I love this lipstick. It is very glossy and creamy and very similar to L'oreal's Shine Delice and Estee Lauder's Crystal Lipsticks, both of which are very glossy, with medium pigment. Only thing is that this doesn't last long, but what do you expect from any glossy lipstick formula? Also, when it's hot, the stuff melts in the tube and wears down as it gets used, but no biggie, i love this stuff!

I usually have no problems with MAC's lipsticks - even the notoriously drying frost formula - but this had zero lasting power on me, and I'm usually one to never have issues with lasting power. This stayed on my lips an even smaller amount of time than Clinique's Almost Lipstick, but unlike my Black Honey, didn't even leave behind a stain. However, the feel is beautiful, which warrants a 3.
