I really miss this perfume! I wish BPAL would bring it back. I got mostly violets out of this, and something watery and sweet and sort of, wistful? I am so bad at describing perfumes. But I thought this was LOVELY when I tried the imp. And there was this evanescent quality to it, like I find with most violets, where the fragrance drifts in and out when you least expect it. One moment, I would breathe this in and sigh and feel lovely wearing it, and then in another moment, it would be gone. Maybe that was the point, hence the name of it? It also smelled like something a Victorian lady would use to scent her handkerchief to give to a gentleman caller, so that whenever he would catch a hint of the fragrance with this token of hers, it would make him miss her and ache for what could have been.

I wanted to like this as I thought the descriptions and names were so unique and beautiful sounding. But this stuff smells just like medicine, and whilst it does seem to go through stages of developing on my wrist the medicinal smell is the strongest, all it seems to do for me is invoke a memory of a medicine my mother used to get me to take when I was little but can't remember the name of.

from the bewitching brews series.

notes: "The scent of loss, love and the echo of time without end: sorrowful violet and chamomile with muguet, white geranium, calla lily and tea rose with a hint of autumn leaves."

in the vial: oh, dammit. this isnt good. kind of like---cat pee and aquanet.

wet on skin: the notes sound *so* beautiful. theres nothing i love more than muguet (lily of the valley) and violet. i am getting NONE of that here. its a full-on generic white floral assault with that unfortunate and STRONG urine scent.

dry down: thank the gods, the pee scent is gone after a few minutes. here comes some pretty delicious white rose (how does it smell white? dont ask me. thats just what i get: a light, crisp and beautiful tea rose) at this point, this is exactly what the description details - floral, floral, floral...in a good way. it smells like innocence and beauty, and theres something going on (chamomile?) that keeps it interesting. it takes a turn after about an hour, and starts to smell something like "the ghost." its like fabric softener. no complaints there.

verdict: ive tried this one several times and through 3 seasons, and its time to give up. the cat pee smell happens every single time, and no amount of comforting lily of the valley and snuggly fabric softener is worth that. sigh.
