I originally got this when I went to MAC for a pre-prom make-up session years ago. I used it every once in a while when I really wanted a smokey eye but the colour was darker than I liked and the fallout was a pain. Then I tried using it wet as eyeliner and GASP! It's perfect. It comes out being the perfect darker bronzey colour. It's so easy to apply as liner and it stays for days with minimal smudging. I'm so glad I tried it as a liner!

I must say this is the worst MAC eyeshadow in my collection. It is difficult to work with, appears matte on the lid and is horrrible to blend. I think MAC did something wrong here calling it as VP. It is a BAD luster finish that is kind of dry. Nothing special about it - simple brown with silver glitters.I am dissapointed with it but at least I love the orange case which is cool.

This is a must have colour if you like unique neutrals!
It's definitely darker and cooler than Satin Taupe. I'd say it's a plummy taupe colour. Very pretty for a winter smokey eye with some black tied on the outer corner.
It is LE, but I guarantee you could find it for sale on one of those Livejournal makeup communities. I got mine in a swap, and I'd say it's somewhat easy to come by. Try it!

HG Crease Daily Colour!
Wowzies!
I picked up this baby on a whim at my local CCO in york designer outlet and OMG i love it! I find it blends beautifully when used on the top of a paint pot (i use painterly) and it is my daily crease colour.
For the price i paid i love this baby!
1 bad thing i thought the Neo-Scif-Fi packagaing was vile and i hate the orange container but hey ho!

I have been on a brown eye shadow kick and I was finally able to track this down and get a great deal on eBay. Definitely not disappointed as it's a beautiful and unique colour that I can best describe as a deep brown with plummy undertones and flecks of silver and slight gold shimmer. Pairs well with neutrals, browns, coppers, purples, and grays due to the uniqueness and complexity of this shadow. It terms of versatility I have used it as a lid, crease, outer V, and eyeliner. It looks great no matter where I apply it for eye looks.

I got this in a swap yesterday. I looooove the color. Its hard to describe, like a brown, taupe, gun-metaly thing with a hint or purple lol. Idk u really need to see it in person. Im dark (NW 50) so I can pull off this shade as an everyday look. I wore it yesterday and I absolutely love it. If MAC repromotes it I def will pick up a couple. One of my faves so far in my growing collection!

I'm knocking a few start off of this, not because I don't love it and use it all the time, but rather because the product it's self could use a bit more blending. If I'm not super careful when applying this it comes out in big uneven patches and it's a huge bummer to have to spend all the extra time blending it out. Also beware! It might look brown in the pot but when on this baby is black! The silver glitter and red/brown undertones make this a super dark shade that sits on the eye like a bruise. I've found for me the best way to handle it is to apply it wet directly to the lid, otherwise the only way I can use it is for a crease shade only. Also make sure you have your Fix+ around ladies - the fall out is substantial.

Although I like the color of this one, the consistency is horrible. When I put my brush into the pan, chunks of it fly everywhere and trying to get an even application on my eye is next to impossible. After a base (I use YSL cream shadow) I put it on and it's patchy-heavier in certain areas and lighter in others- and it wonders, so I end up with eyeshadow all over the place because of fallout. I have never had fallout before with any eyeshadow I have owned, so I guess it was only a matter of time until it happened, but it is really annoying. Color is great, but not worth the hassle. I think I'll try satin taupe, as everyone on MUA thinks they are similar.

I got this from a swap and it's a great neutral colour for daytime. It's a little more brown than Smut. I use it with either Naked Lunch or Femme Fi for a quick and easy look.

If possible, I would give this product a 4.5, but I decided to round up.
The ladies of the MU board described this as Satin Taupe's glam cousin, and I had to hunt it down. Magnetic Fields is a gorgeous deep silvered brown, less plummy than Satin Taupe. In the pan, Magnetic Fields looks glittery, but once applied, this effect is much more of a gleam than chunky glitter.
Although I have used this as a crease colour as well, my favourite use for Magnetic Fields is for a simple but lovely smokey brown eye. A lot of browns are not flattering on me, but this happy marriage between taupe and brown is perfect. I start with primer and then Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha drawn onto the lid and blended out with my ring finger. Then I use the ELF blending eye brush swirled/dipped in the pan to pick up product and then swirled on my lid and smoked out. I might use a separate clean blending brush to soft the edges. I either wear this as is with some black liner or add a little black into the outer v to deepen and add even more depth.
This product does lose half a lippy for the finish. This is supposed to be a Veluxe Pearl finish, which a lot of people describe as Mac's nicest, softest finish next to Starflash shadows. I find Veluxe Pearls to be very inconsistent, and Magnetic Fields is much harder than expected, similar to a Satin.
That said, the color still picks up beautifully when swirled on with ELF's dense blending brush and layered over a taupe base like the Nyx pencil. The end result is definitely worth these special steps.
For reference, I am an NC25, neutral leaning toward warm.

This color is a dark brown with glitters in it, however once applied you cannot see any glitter at all. I use this a variety of colors. I use it in the crease paired with shale, satin taupe, sable and nars ashes to ashes as well. It is a tad gritty and somewhat hard to work with but overall it's a very versatile color so I'd def pick it up again if it were to be repromoted.

Magnetic fields is a nice darken brown. It really reminds me of constructivist pp. It pairs and blends well with most es colors. I love neutrals so this was a great find for me. It also looks shimmery in the pot; however, I do not get disco ball lids when I have applied this.

very unique dark brown. pairs well with lighter browns, coppers and even purples. really versitile. it's a bit gritty though and weird to work with, but it's not impossible.

I'm so glad I bought this, just wish I'd got more from the Neo SciFi collection, everything seems to have been worth getting. I use this a lot on the outer V, it's a great neutral dark brown with shimmer. MAC does so many warm browns I had to have this when it came out! It's great paired with Patina or Brule. Colour payoff isn't the best, slightly chalky given all the glitter in it, but not too bad. It's also my only MAC e/s I haven't depotted because I love the funky neon orange pot! If MAC re-released this shade I would buy again.

Pretty shade, nice for all over the lid, though I've only used it as a crease shade so far with the Painterly paint pot (brings out magnetic fields since it is matte and a nude color). It's a grayish brown color with a little bit of sheen. In the pan you can see the sparkles more than you can when it's applied. I feel comfortable using this every day and I'm sure I'd wear it out at night too. I like the texture and how it goes on. Definitely pretty, glad I picked it up at CCO since it is an EL and they no longer sell it at the counter!

I LOVE this eyeshadow. The color is a universal flattering shade and it's perfect for the crease (as the others have pointed out), but this could also be good by itself if you're going out. I bought this online, and I don't regret it! Love the packaging, I'm a newbie to MAC, but already love collecting these shades, this one is definitely unique

One of the better Neo Sci-Fi shadows in my opinion. It's a VP, though it seems a bit more on the lustre-side than other VP shadows because of the slight grittiness, though this doesn't lead to the fall-out associated with lustres. It's a slightly plum-grey dark brown shadow, like Signed, Sealed lightened up a bit and became a VP with silver shimmers rather than a Matte2. Not sure if I'f rebuy, but I won't sell it for now. A decent shadow.

Another great brown eye shadow, which I adore. I like to play with make up but on a daily basis I feel most comofrtable using earth colors and magnetics fields is exactly what I need ;) It's great for crease color with every brown, beige and so on. A staple and I will repurchase if it ever returns...

im a huge fan of brown eyeshadows (the darker and cooler the better) for my brown eyes. so the more variation in browns i find, the happier i am.
this is a cool brown since it has unique purple undertones. if brown looks good with brown eyes and so does purple... then think of how amazing this color looks. i always say this e/s reminds me of "rich soil" because it has little bits and pieces that reminds me of rocks in soil, which makes this kind of a lustre (but NOT a crappy lustre). t
great for all over the lid and just fading it out for a soft, sexy, smokey eye.
