I went through a phase last year when I felt like I was spending too much on beauty product/makeup, so I went to Target to buy a new night cream. A beauty sales associate (who knew they had beauty specific SAs at Target?) suggested this cream to me after I told her my skin was on the drier side. I tried it out, didn't think it was anything special because I thought it was just a run of the mill Shea butter cream, and I let it sit in the back of my makeup drawer while I used Ole Henriksen's Sheer Transformation (also a great cream, lighter than this one so I use it in the summer). Then I got lazy one morning and used a face wipe (from Old Henriksen, if you must know) to cleanse my face and I broke out in some sort of rash that left my skin dehydrated, red, flaky, peeling, you get the picture. The lighter creams did not penetrate my skin, and forget about using serums, nothing was getting through. I tried using this cream as a last resort, figuring it would be gentle since it didn't have any intense actives and it totally nursed my skin back to health! It has now moved to the top of my makeup table and I use it under my makeup/tinted moisturizer in the morning and at night over my vitamin C serum/retinol serum and my skin has not felt this supple and hydrated in years. The moisture definitely sinks in and rebuilds your skin's moisture barrier (go Shea butter!), and like another reviewer said, you can still feel the effects even after you rinse it off in the morning (I rinse w/ water only in the morning). It is not greasy, yet somehow super moisturizing at the same time, and it is very lightly scented, which I also appreciate. Also, it seems like a little goes a long way since I have been using this twice a day since the beginning of autumn and I have barely made a dent. At $20, I would say that this is a great deal, but I understand that not everyone has become numb to spending $50+ on night creams (Sephora marketing... what have you done!). For all the great benefits and ease of accessibility (who doesn't practically live at Target?) I would definitely purchase again in a heartbeat!

I actually like this! I was very skeptical about giving this a try, but I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think anything of it until I started getting compliments on my skin. The consistency is rich enough for a night cream, but not too heavy that it can't be worn in the day. All you have to do is put an extra layer of sunscreen if you are outdoors. If you take care of your skin, i.e. exfoliate, do a detox mask weekly, etc., then this product will keep your skin looking fresh. My skin was smooth and glowing after I used it. It smells nice and light. I have been using this for over one month, night and day, and I am half-way through the jar. More expensive and heavier creams will last longer, but for $20, this isn't a bad deal and it works. My mom told me that Dr. Oz says this stuff works just as good as the expensive creams...
*UPDATE 12/18/12: I bought another jar of this, even though my first jar is completely finished. I forgot to mention before that the packaging is different than what is pictured above. The jar is a blue color and the top is a metallic grey color. It's still working well for me and I can see the difference when I don't use it.
**UPDATE 5/15/2013: After using three jars of this, I can definitively say that it really doesn't do much for anti-aging or skin care. I would only use this if you are just looking for a cream to moisturize and nothing more. My skin looked horrible two weeks ago and I didn't even notice until I started using my Estee Lauder products again. Now my skin is dramatically different and everyone has been complimenting me. Ironically, it was my mother who bought the more expensive products for me to start using again. She no longer uses this product either. If you are serious about your skin and taking care of it (clearing it up, anti-aging, etc.), I would not recommend this product. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

This product isn't as moisturizing as I had hoped it would be. That being said, I still have to find a good nighttime cream, but I do use this for a daily application when my face feels dry.
I would definitely recommend if your face isn't super dry like mine is .Boots does make some good products for a very reasonable price.

Can't really recommend this. I used it for quite a while because it did moisturise well. But I've stopped using jars as I've learnt that any active ingredients break down in the presence of air. There's more fragrance and preservatives in this than any beneficial ingredients. Also considering it's not doing skin that much good it's expensive.Much better out there. My day's of using this are over.

Let me preface this review by saying I am not someone who is easily irritated by perfumes or chemicals. For the first time in my life I have found a face cream that actually makes my lungs burn each and every time I put this toxic sludge on. This is about the 5th time I have put it on, and here I am sitting here 15 minutes later still suffering and decided I had to write a review and warn others. I do not know which chemicals are causing the burning but as I said, my lungs are not ultra-sensitive or anything and I have never had this reaction to any other products. This is also the first highly commercial product I have purchased. I tend towards more natural moisturizers. I would say that yes, this does seem to have a moisturizing effect but after 5 uses I can't give an accurate review of its skin-changing effects. I can only warn others that this stuff is very toxic. Mine will be going in this trash. I can't see giving this away, knowing how nasty it is. I won't even use it on my feet. God only knows what your skin is absorbing. My lungs are only now starting to feel better. I kept using it thinking maybe it was just that one time, but after 5x of lung burning, and this was even just using it around my eyes today, I know for sure I don't want this stuff anywhere near me or anyone I love.

I feel like I have brand-new skin. I wash at night and put it on while my skin is still damp and I am loving the way my skin feels. I'm still having tiny issues with dryness and small pimples, but I suspect that may be related to the rest of my 'beauty routine'. Seriously, after two days with this stuff, I wanted to run back and buy ALL the Boots No. 7 products. But I'm cheap, so I'll have to be choosy.

I think Boots skincare and makeup are a formidable Brand. This particular cream contains sought after ingredients of a high tech nature: Ascorbyl Glucoside (stabilized Vitamin C), Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (wrinkle fighter), Palmitoyl Tetrapetide 7 (wrinkle fighter), Ginko Balboa and Phullanthus Emblica Fruit Extract and Lupinus Albus Seed Extract (calming, water binding and anti free radical fighters). There are many other ingredients that are wonderful to have in any skin protecting and moisturizing products, just not as esoteric: Shea Butter, Tocopherol, Dimethiconol, Retinal Palmitate, etc. These sound as if this is an ingredient list from a $75-$125 cream from a high end brand from Sephora. Instead it's a $19.99 cream from Target, the only place you can buy it here in the US. Boots is an English company. They have Boots free standing stores where there are lines to get into in London! The texture is like silk. It sinks into the skin rather than having a thick layer which just sits atop the surface. Your skin feels moist and soft in the morning. When you add water to your face for washing in the morning you can still feel the cream and the results it gave the minute you put it on that earlier evening.. The entire #7 Line of skincare is amazing, but particularly the Protect and Perfect line (serum, day cream w/SPF, eye cream, night cream.) I think there also might be a hand cream and a body cream that is part of this line as well. It's a product that does what it says it does and does it in a very high tech manner at an unimaginable low price. Don't look this gift horse in the mouth, as they say. Just go and buy Boots. There's not a bad product in the bunch. I would add you first get the Protect and Perfect Serum (in the tube, as the pump bottle stops at the last 5th.) Use this serum under anything you'd like, but preferably a #7 Protect and Perfect product and watch the improvement of your complexion in a week. Hydration and smoothness is increased, lines and deeper wrinkles are softened and sun/brown spots are faded. Glorious!

This is a great product for the winter. It's not too heavy but it moisturizes well. It comes in a jar, which is not my favorite type of packaging for moisturizers (I just use a Q-tip to get some of the product out). The smell isn't that overpowering either (it smells a little like cucumbers). The texture, at first, seems heavy but as you work it into your hands to put it onto your face, the texture becomes lighter. At first, I thought I disliked the product, but I found out that I was simply just using too much for my combo skin! You really need a half of a pea size amount for your entire face. If you put too much product on, your face can look like a greaseball. Also, I use this cream during the day as well and I don't think it looks too oily. I also have extremely acne prone and sensitive skin an am using Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid (which is a tad bit drying), and this night cream has helped immensely with my dryness. It also hasn't irritated my skin nor has it caused any acne. I would definitely recommend this product, even for younger people who are in dire need of hydration!

This is a great product IF it's right for your skin type. I have combination skin whch basically means my face is dry except for my nose. I hardly ever break out but my skin does get a little rough with patchy dry skin and this works wonders! I've been looking fo an anti-aging product that works without it being to strong or making my face greasy. I've tried Estee Lauder and Kiehls an although the Kiehl's serum was great, paying $60 for a little bottle was too much. I tried this on a whim and was pleasantly surprised to find that it moisturizes and really does smoothen the texture of my skin. I use it together with the Protect and Perfect serum so I cant really tell if it's the serum, the night cream or both but im going to keep using them both until i find a brightening serum that smooths out my skin as well as this.

I've been through about 2 of these and half way through a pot at the moment. I really like this night cream. The scent is nice and fresh and i love the feeling on my skin after i have applied it. I don't use too much as i oily skin and it works really nicely and also means i don't get through a post so quick! Very good night cream.

I have combo skin. Oily t-zone with dryness in the cheeks even in the summer! So I bought this because of the great reviews here but... Didn't work for me. I'm looking for something to use at night to soften the dry patches on my cheeks and to improve the look of my skin without breaking me out. But, I would put this on and it would feel nice going on. I liked the texture and smell but after a minute, it was as if I had never put anything on! It didn't moisturize at all! Even with my combo skin it did nothing! Back to target it went. Still searching for the perfect night time moisturizer.

Ive been using both the Protect & Perfect Night Cream and the Protect & Perfect Day Cream moisturisers for 12/18mths, and although I've strayed for a little while (usually to Clarins via their 'gift with purchase' testers), I've always returned.
Until I moved to London, I never had issues with dry skin, but even my oily tzone has dried out (or I just got older!). I've noticed that in general my skin now is usually quite smooth and clear. The night cream is light, but very 'moisture rich' without feeling heavyor greasy. My partner now steals mine (even preferring it to the Mens No7 versions).
Downsides are price (its very expensive for what is effectively a drugstore / High Street brand) and packaging - its extremely heavy and so if you're travelling, you either have to transfer into travel pots or use something else (hence the Clarins defections while on holiday).

What a wonderful product! I had read a review of this product in a British magazine that had rated it as one of the best night moisturizers on the market (it was compared to more expensive "department store" brands) and this product placed #1.
I have to agree with the rating. My skin after just a week looks noticibly firmer and smooth. I love the way it just sinks directly into your skin upon contact and although a little heavy to the touch, it absolutely disappears upon full contact to your face. The smell is a subtle floral but it doesn't bother me. For just under $20, I can honestly say that I will buy this product again!

started using this product when my usual nivea visage Q10 night cream ran out as wanted a change. I like a heavier lotion for my face at night. This smells nice and plumps up skin leaving it looking fresh however did not really find a big differece between this and my usual nivea apart from the price but would probebly buy again.

A really, really great moisturizer. I personally was not a big fan of No 7's famous Protect and Perfect serum - I found it too light and didn't feel like it was really 'moisturizing' my skin. The night cream is excellent though - it has a lovely texture, almost like a whipped up serum. It goes on smoothly and not only makes my skin feel plumped up and super, super soft, but really makes a difference to the look of my skin. I feel my face now looks much brighter and dewy. Initially can make your face feel a bit tight and 'mask-ish' when you first apply it (must be something working!) but that effect doesn't last.
I use this both day and night, I personally don't think it's particularly 'heavy' although my skin is pretty dry.
The only real gripe I have with this, as other reviewers have said, is the pot it comes in. It's pretty heavy and unscrewing a lid is just an extra faff. In all fairness the packaging quality is really great - but a tube or pump would be easier to dispense and probably much lighter.
I thought the price was pretty high (£19.50) for what is fundamentally a high street brand, but I feel it's worth every penny and a little bit goes a long way!

This is a lovely product, just not for me. The cream has a nice, light scent and is very heavy (too heavy for my liking). It does help to smooth and keep skin moisturized but I felt that the consistency was too thick for me, although I wish I liked it enough to use it more often. My biggest gripe is the jar. I hate dipping my fingers into these jars in order to get to the product and wish it came in a pump. Still, if you are looking for a heavy duty night cream I would recommend it, I just prefer something that feels lighter.

A gorgeous rose scented cream with a rich but non-greasy feel which leaves my skin beautifully hydrated and smooth.
I absolutely adore this cream and it even suits my tricky combination skin and doesn't make me break out.
I've purchased it 3 times and will continue to do so.
My only gripe is the packaging as I much prefer tubes and pump dispensers to pots but it's no big deal.
An absolute winner for a fussy girl like me!!!!

Boots have started a whole range to complement their famous Protect & Perfect serum and I was surprised to see no one else has reviewed them yet.
I read in a magazine that it's usuallly best to stick to one range of products to get the best effect and that using different products from different ranges all at the same time might even sometimes be detrimental to the skin. As I use the Protect & Perfect serum I though I'd get the night cream to use with it. I am very pleased with this and may well go on to try some of the other products later (e.g. they also do a day cream, eye cream, cream for the body and even a men's range now)
It comes in a satisfyingly large pot that you can dip your fingers in and is good value at £19.50 for 50 ml. It's quite rich, which I expect from a night cream and you feel as though it's really mouisturizing your skin. Too early yet to report any dramatic effect and frankly I doubt that there will be any since I have never yet bought a night cream that makes any dramatic improvement. But it does make the skin feel quite dewy and plumps it up a bit.
It claims it "includes a skin-firming complex containing lipo-peptides to boost and maintain elasticity." Don't know about that but I think it's definetly worth getting again.
