I bought this after reading mixed reviews and thought I'd give it a shot since I was on a budget and needed a quick fix for my liquid foundation. Ah, how terribly mistaken I was. This brush is nowhere near what a stippler should be. It cakes on my foundation a lot, and is really slow to work with. I take twice the time to use this than any other stippling brush. The bristles also poke my face, making it quite itchy and y'know, scratching your face while your foundation is still wet just defeats the purpose of stippling it in the first place. But I should think that the biggest flaw about this brush is the shedding. God, the amount of hair it sheds - I could collect it up and make a new brush after a few uses. Washing doesn't help - still sheds like crazy. Tossing this out and grabbing a Sigma or E.L.F Studio Powder Brush as a replacement.

Sheds and sheds no matter how many times you wash it........ besides that, it's a decent stipple brush~

A stippling brush seems to be the "must have" brush every time I read make-up blogs or watch a youtube video, and as I don't have money for the MAC one (or even the Sigma one) I bought this one when CS was having a 50% off, for $4.77 (I was switching between this one and the black handle one).
It's not too dense so I don't think it would work great with liquid foundation (and plus it sheds, so definitely a no).
It sheds tiny black hairs,so annoying.
I use it as a blush brush and it's good.
Haven't used it with any liquids as I'm scared of the tiny black hairs shedding like crazy.
They don't have it on the site anymore.

Eh. It's ok and I use it to apply cream blush (Maybelline Mousse blush) and it's fine for that, but I find it a bit flimsy. Might be worth the investment to get the MAC stippling brush.

Maybe this is an unfair rating, but I am rating this as a 187 dupe, which it seems that Coastal Scents was having all these "gurus" claim. When I first started my brush collection, I just bought a bunch of cheapies, and this was among them. With time I've collected a ton of MAC brushes, and I can say without hesitation that the 187 is worth splurging on (I also hear that the Sigma version is excellent, and is cheaper than MAC). This CS version sheds like crazy, is significantly bigger (making blush application a little ridiculous), and the hairs are much more flexible, making it difficult to get a nice application. I love how pretty this brush is, but it just doesn't deliver when it comes to using it.

I do not use this brush for foundation...I use it for blush. It provides the perfect product amount and applies it evenly...however it is kinda big for that so i'm going to try and find something smaller so I can have more direct application...but my blush looks beautiful and natural now when using this brush to simply stipple it on

This is my first stippling brush. I bought it in order to use it for my liquid foundation application. Everything is great, the density, the packaging, the appearance...however, it sheds like no other! Every application, it sheds around 10 to 15 hairs, everytime i brush it on my face. I know it is sold as a powder brush or something but this is crazy. I want to try the Sigma duo fiber brush next because MAC 187 is too expensive.

For the price, this is a decent stippler brush. I'm kind of new to stippling, so I picked up too much product at first, so I stippled around my face and ended up using a regular foundation brush to spread the foundation. I didn't want to spend $40 on a MAC brush and when I saw this one, I had to have it. I think it was around $8.00, a bargain.

I just got this brush and haven't used it much but so far I think it is excellent. I actually own both the MAC 188 and 187, so I can honestly compare them. This brush is slightly denser than my MAC and just as soft. I had no weird smell, but there does seem to be quality inconsistencies with Coastal Scents brushes (see my Pointed Dome review). When I washed it, there was some dye run off, but that is no big deal. Had a couple of hairs come out, but I get this every time I wash the MAC as well. In my opinion, I don't think there is any reason to spend the money on the MAC one, if you get one of the coastal scents ones that are good. And now there is the problem - it seems it can be hit and miss with them. UPDATE: Had to put this down to two lippies. I had only used it with powders - which it works perfectly with. HOWEVER I tried it with foundation and cream blush and what a MESS! Hairs all over my face. So disappointed. So if you want a soft brush, just for powders, this is great, but not for anything wet.

I purchased two of these brushes over a year ago (one initially and another one a month after) and I loved it for blush application with loose mineralized blush. It really helps the loose mineralized blush to blend in well with my cheeks. They're smaller than the black duo stippler so it fits really nicely on my cheeks. Ever since I started using MAC brushes and powder blushes however, these brushes have been taking a back seat. I plan on "shopping my stash" and using my mineralized blush again soon so I'll definitely be into using these again.

I was worried by the negative reviews on here, but I actually really like this so far, but I've only used it once. The hairs are super soft, which is nice, but can also be a bad thing. The softness doesn't really affect the outcome of stippling foundation on with this, which is what I do, but it's probably a little too soft and flexible to swirl product on. Also, it seems that there aren't really white and black separate bristles, but more so that they're all the same, black bristles that are white at the tip. This stippled faster than my ELF studio line powder brush, which is what I normally use. This can also be used for several things, I used it to stipple on liquid foundation, apply finishing powder, and also to apply blush.

I will update about shedding and if I have the problem everyone else seems to have with the dye.

This is a great brush!
--The bristles are very soft
--No weird smell (that some reviewers noted)
--A little shedding 1 or 2 hairs every other day--nothing huge

People seem to have an issue after they washed it. Could that be the cause of problems? I just didn't wash this brush before using it. I just wiped it off on a soft towel and began using it. No problems so far.

Okay, i heard all the raves about it on enkore and all the other youtube gurus.
So, of course i had to try it!
i dont have the 187 or 188 but now i want it.
when this brush came, it was nice and clean, it felt great.
i heard about how it shedded and had blue dye all over it, so i thought i would be a lucky person and not have it shed or get dye on me.
but i was WRONG!

it barely shedded, like one hair a day.
it was great, until a few days ago. I dont know why it just started, but there is blue dye all over it.

i decided to soak it in the sink and after a few minutes the sink water was opaque blue!
when i dryed the brush and began applying my blush, i got pigmented blue stripes across my cheeks!
i am so angry i will try to get a refund.

im getting the mac 187 or 188, something that isn't a cheap dupe!!!!!

ps: i think enkore got paid for his review raving about this brush, cause it SUCKS.

For the cost, this is a great brush. I wish the bristles were more dense, but it still works great. I used it daily...I spray my Fix+ on it and dab it on my fab to get rid of any powdery look. I also use it for powder or blush.

I've found a way to make this a better stippler for liquid foundation that I'm sure many have already thought of! I took a hair elastic (small one) and tied it in middle of the brush, it makes the top more dense. I tried stippling today and it worked like a charm, yay!

I had high expectation for this brush due to the large pos. reviews on coastal scents' website. It came packaging pretty nice. Didn't shed a lot, but I found that it was a lil' bit too flimsy and the fibers are pretty loose compared to the MAC fiber stippler. Gives very sheer coverage for foundation, and doesn't pick up pigments for blush, so when applying blush with this brush, very sheer as well.

It's soft and it is perfect for a sheer look. However, I feel like it is a bit flimsy when trying blend. Sometimes I want more blush color that it gives. I tried it w/ a few times w/ foundation and it isn't bad.
Overall, I would recommend this! (Doesn't shed for me)
