(Review for the spf 30:)

This is hard.... On one hand this is a specific product for acne-prone skin, that promises to not break you out... And for so long it hasen't broke me out (but I have only worn it for a few days, and will update if that changes)... This is really important to me, cause i've struggled with adult acne almost whole my life...

But on the other hand, this product gives me a shine in the face... You get that "oil slick" that is hard to combat with even usually good powders (Obs! It does not FEEL oily when you touch the face with your hands, it only LOOKS greasy/oily)... and the imperfections in your face are easier to see ( like uneven skin, enlarged pores and small bumps ). So this does not "even out" your skin, as maybe your daily moisturizer does....

But how much can one expect? I want to be satisfied with this "acne-safe" sunscreen, BUT the oily look I get reminds me of my teenage years..hmm...

(Compared to another "acne-safe" sunscreen, LRP Anthelios AC, this one is a little better... The LRP leaves a more whitish cast and the makeup looks too dry with it...)

PROS:

-No white cast
- Non-comedonic
- Relyable brand
- "Higher" spf than many other "acne-safe" sunscreens right now..

CONS:

- Leaves a greasy/oily look
- Quite expensive for the amount you get
- Feels "thick" in the start when you apply and spread it out..

Will I buy it again? Yes, cause it's acne safe...but only until I find something that is a little more "refining" for my uneven surface and enlarged pores....

UPDATE 2012-07-04: when I used this the whole day long for a few days I noticed that my face felt dry and a a little irritated, red. I asked at the pharmacy, and they explained that this contains TREATING ingredients for acne... And cause Im on retinol and BP, this can become to much.... Still I haven't find any replacement though... :(

I also seem to avoid wearing it when I'm going to the town/se people, cause I feel that it makes me look so greasy... This is a real con for a sunscreen during the summer, its important to like it cause you're supposed to wear it regularly.... One lippie off because of this!

Review for the SPF30

Last step in the morning under makeup. I got so excited by the avene range that I ran out to buy this sunblock. Don't love it.

PROS:
Packaging is fine. Pump dispenser is convenient to use.
Light texture. Easy to apply
No white pasty finish as mentioned by other reviewers

CONS :
Not worth the price for the amount.
Oily finish (I don't have oily skin)
Cheap sunblock smell
Makes my foundation powder ball up and leaves my skin uneven
Concealer doesn't go well over it.

Will not buy again however in love with the other avene products so far :)

This review is for the SPF 30. I finally found a sunscreen that doesn't irritate and clog my acne prone skin. It does leave a slight white tint to the face, but that's easily fixed with a dusting of powder/bronzer. Only cons are that you have to purchase it online if you live in the U.S. and it's pretty expensive for the amount you get. Wish it came in a larger tube.

HG sunscreen for warmer months! However, when it gets cold, probably will switch to a more moisturizing cream; this is good as just a sunscreen.

i have it in spf 30 and i use it only for face and around my eyes too. mat finish, light, not greasy, liquid, does not give a feeling of a chemical or synthetic layer, contains some organic filters as well, efficient BUT it looks white on face, not really pleasant so i give it 3 lippies for this reason, and it may also have woken up some of my dormant acne. update: after my summer holidays, i loved it more (both the smell, texture and protection), so i increase 1 lippie

This sunscreen works great for all people with mixed, grease or acne-prone skin, even in humid and hot weather. I would say it's the best ss I've ever tried on my skin. Definetely a must

I have this (the FPS 30 version) and I'm not sure. It certanly works and there's not much oil in the skin either but I believe it's a bit too thick (it's a sunscreen I know) as my skin is kind of white with it on. Anyway, it's a better sunscreen for oily / acne skin than the majority, so I'll definetly going to buy it again.

I also have mixed feelings about this cream, I bought the SPF30 version and I could not sample it first, but after reading about it, it said it was a "light, quick-absorbing lotion", when I got it home, I was disappointed as the smell was not very great and it was like the consistency of icing. I first applied it to my hand and thought it was way too thick for my face, but after trying it on my face, I was surprised, it wasn't like icing. It absorbed fast and left my skin totally matte, no grease at all. I have oily-acne prone skin so I assumed that pretty much every sunscreen would be greasy. I have to give this cream credit for that, there is absolutely not a drop of oil in this cream, but perhaps it is almost too dry for my skin, I may have to put a moisturizer on first. I will keep using it at least on my neck and chest. The coverage is great, only downfall is the smell.

I completely agree with soleil_kitty below! This is a winner! Here in Belgium this one is sold with spf 30. I've been travelling in hot areas all month (+35°C). With my acne and the Benzoyl Peroxide I'm using to fight it, sunscreen is of major importance to me. (I hope everyone knows that the sun is really NOT your friend when it comes to acne, though it may seem like it at first!). Most sunscreens are also very greasy. So I was looking for something strong and safe to use on my superoily skin.

This product is non-greasy, quickly absorbs and the lasting power amazed me. I only had to apply it once a day and NEVER burned, though I was in sun all day, am really pale and went swimming a lot. Its consistency has the typical Avène softness.

This sunscreen is a great quality product for everyone with an oily skin!

Age: 30-35   Skin: Sensitive, Fair   Hair: Black   Eyes: Blue

First things first: The Cleanance Sunscreen is sold with SPF30 in Germany because that's the one I bought and the one I'm reviewing: I used to have Artistry’s Multi Protection Lotion for the summer days in order to protect my NC15 skin. But for some reason my skin doesn’t really like it anymore. Artistry started breaking me out after a few days so I had to look for an alternative. When I found out Avène has a summer moisturizer for sensitive and oily skin, I settled for this. What can I say? A perfect match! This lotion is milky white, has a really liquid texture and can therefore be applied easily. It gets absorbed by the skin immediately and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling behind. The skin is matte and feels moisturized. Applying make-up afterwards is no problem at all, either. No break-outs, no irritation, oil control is pretty good as well, make-up stays put. In short: we have a winner. Will buy again, probably also for the winter months since I’m set on protecting my skin the best that I can.

I love this sunscreen. I have very sunburn-prone skin and so sunscreen is an absolute must for me, but most sunscreens I used before were greasy and broke me out. This one is amazing. I totally recommend it. It has a neutral smell, absorbs easily and quickly, and allows you to put makeup on top; also, it does not break me out at all; i would even say it helped with my mild acne.

This has a very subtle fragance. The texture is kinda heavy at the beggining but tends to absorbs quickly. Great protection properties, good for my oily acne-prone skin. No breakouts or redness. It controls shine very well all day long so make up goes well over it. The finish is not as matte as other ss, but i love the natural glow it gives to me after i put my matte foundation, so that´s a pro. I bought mine around 24 bucks and it lasts long.

I have mixed feelings about this ss. I bought this ss because I was tired of LRP and I wanted to try another photostable ss. This was the first ss I bought from Avene but not the first sunscreen I've used with tinosorb (tried an asian ss with tinosorb previously). If I look at it from a good ppd, ingredient, and sun protection perspective, this ss is a dream. However it is not a dream on my face. It has that stickiness associated with most tinosorb sunscreens. It applies well but it takes a while to sink in, like about 30 minutes. I would dust finishing powder (everyday minerals) but it would just soak it up and still be a bit shiny. I think this ss would work better in a dry climate because it seems to have that extra moisture. However that extra moisture looks too shiny in a humid environment like mine. Overall, chemically it's a great ss which is my reason for giving it four lippies but I don't think I would repurchase again. I might try the spf 50 emulsion instead since it has good reviews.

I think this is the most cosmetically elegant sunscreen that Avene has out right now, though I can't stand its fragrance or stickiness, which does go away in about 2~4 hours. Initially it's very shiny and oily, but it does sink in after 30 minutes. A long wait for a busy person.

Think it would work nicely for normal, combo, or oily people in temperate weather. I prefer Ducray creme, Neutrogena dry-touch 55, City Veil 50 by Shiseido, among the many others that I own here, for where I live right now. In this hot and humid weather (perpetually above 90 degrees), my old favorite LRP Dermo-peds lait and Bioderma fluide 50 look and feel oily, and my L'oreal UV Perfect XL block is just plain greasy. And since the locals here care so much about whether someone's face look shiny, my old favs are just collecting dust.

If I didn't live on a humid semi-tropical island, picking out a sunscreen would be so much easier. I miss the days when I wore Avene kids lait in Oregon and enjoyed its dewy finish.

I purchased this for around $13 USD in Europe a few months ago. The stickiness & shininess is a bit like that of La Roche-Posay Anthélios SPF 40 W Gel - but both are thankfully a little less so. Also, since there is no Avobenzone, there's no eye sting! Bangs are out of the question with this product, so this is the "comfort sunscreen" I wear if I'm wearing a hat that day. Definitely recommended!
