I have fine but dense wavy hair that has a tendency to frizz when I airdry. I tried this product last year and have been using it since. It's a very liquid gel, similar to Paul Mitchell Super Sculpt. It brings out the wave in my hair and gives me a beachy look without crunch. I apply a generous amount while my hair is wet and then "pineapple" in a towel while I'm putting my makeup on. When I take the towel off, I scrunch in some more Confixor and let it finish air drying. It controls most of my frizz and makes my hair very shiny. Love it!! It smells wonderful too! It's $18 for 8.5 fl. oz. but a bottle lasts at least a couple of months.

OK, I've had a bottle of this for a few years now and I just can't get past the fragrance so it doesn't get used as much as it could. With that said, it works well on my short, fine, thick wavy hair to hold particularly in the summer months. I typically mix it with a foam/mousse to provide some additional volume on an "as needed" basis. I am going to try their Flax Aloe gel next and see how that compares. Wait - after I said that I checked MUA reviews and that didn't get great reviews. So I'll need to reconsider prior to repurchasing the Confixor.

There are two Aveda hair products that I think are very good. One is the color protectant shampoo they carry and the other is this light weight styling lotion. All Aveda products smell wonderful and tend to be on the pricey side but this product is perfect for me when I need some hold and am straightening my curly hair. It does not serve as a strong hold product but as a gentle hold liquid. Worth the money and last awhile.

I had given up on gels years ago because they made my hair too flat and crunchy. I've been using mousse for a while and just making peace with the slight frizz I'm left with. Then my mom gave me some Confixor because she didn't like the smell. Wow, I love gel again! This is hands-down the best gel I've ever used. In fact, it's one of the best hair products that I've ever tried, period. I first use Style Prep smoother, then some Wen styling cream, then a dime sized amount of the Confixor (I have shoulder length hair). I dry with a diffuser and end up with perfectly formed curls that don't frizz -even on the second day when I don't wash it! Love, love, love. The only possible drawback I can see is the high price, and if you don't like how the Aveda store smells, then you won't like the smell.

I wanted to review this to say it not only works on fine hair, but on coarse thick hair also. Mine is very thick and fairly frizzy, and very few products manage to tame it. I apply Confixor when mine is wet to damp, and scrunch it a little as it dries to get some texture and movement. The result is soft definition, no crunch at all, and minimal frizz.
The smell: 'generic' aromatherapy/spa with a dash of alcohol. Yep it is strong and you can smell it all day, but I like it.

I have very fine, frizzy hair. It can lose its curl just as easily as it can frizz and curl up. It can also be styled easily--straightened or curled. I have tried a lot of products, and most leave hair looking wet and or/crunchy. Most products are also too heavy or leave a strange texture to my hair. Leave in conditioners make my hair take forever to dry. Gels can be too crunchy. Mousses are sticky and heavy. Serums leave greasy stuff on my hands. I bought Confixor and Be Curly Curl Enhancer together. When I tried them together I wasn't crazy about the effect. And I wasn't too crazy about Be Curly--not nearly as good as I was expecting. After putting Confixor aside for a long time, came back to it. And wow! It works great. It does what a gel does--holds my curls, without the slightest bit of crunch! Hair look totally natural, just with nicer, fuller, curlier, less frizzy curls! My hair is still a little frizzy, but in a good weigh. Love this product. Will be excited to see if I keep loving it and buy another bottle. Could this be the one hair product? Here is how I use it: after showering, I squeeze the excess water out of my hair, then I comb through with a wide toothed comb. After that I put a quarter sized amount of confixor in my palm, rub my hands together and them distribute throughout hair, focusing on ends. I touch the top of my hair only after most product has been used on the ends. I then flip my head upside down and scrunch my hair with my hands, squeezing out water and shaping curl. I then flip my hair back up and squeeze out water with a towel, scrunching the towel gently. Trust me, it works!

I love this light-gel product for my thin wavy/curly hair. I mix a small amount with my volumizing mousse (rusk thickr) and it keeps my hair full or volume with minimal frizz. Also does not breakout my oily scalp.

Ah, Confixor! I have very fine, wavy hair that is color-treated and with a naturally oily scalp. I first tried Confixor on a recommendation from a stylist, who thought I'd be able to use it as a leave-in conditioner. It didn't really work out that well for me as a standard root-to-tip leave-in on towel-dried hair, because my scalp is too oily and would overcome the Confixor in my hair. I tried using it as a gel but it would turn crunchy when I applied it to dry hair. Then I found the perfect use for it on my hair. I had been suffering from dry ends due to an experimental dye job (the new foam colorants: they dry out hair) so I was trying Frizz-Ease, which had worked so well back in the day when my hair had been fried from a perm gone wrong. The Frizz-Ease was a bit too much for this particular problem so I tried the Confixor instead. I used it pretty much like I had been using the Frizz-Ease: on only the sopping wet ends of my hair. It worked perfectly. My fried ends now lay in the direction I desire, and it's all thanks to Confixor! And it doesn't take that much to do it either, barely a dime-sized amount, which means this expensive bottle will last me a while. I love the herbal scent of this product - as others have said, it is the quintessence of an Aveda scent - but I will also agree with those who say it is very strong. When I was trying to use it on my whole head of hair, it was way too strong, but just using a little on my ends, it's just right!

This is one of the few products I have found to give my seriously baby fine haoir the body and bounce it needs to even look half way okay during the day, especially if there is any humidity in the air. I don't know how many bottles of this I have purchased but I have been using it for well over 10 years. It gives the hold and body I need without making my hair feel crunchy, like most mousses do. This is a great product!

For me this is wonderful stuff. I have baby fine long hair and Confixor puts body into my hair and enables it to hold a set event in the super humid place I live.
Don't understand people complaining about the scent of Confixor; I love the fragrance.
If you have fine hair you will be thankful you discovered Confixor

Have been using Confixor for a very LONG time. It is one of my hair product staples. I don't mind the smell, because I blow dry my hair and the smell tends to fade. (the smell reminds me of a getting a really good haircut at the salon) I have short, thick(but fine) hair that tend to lay flat to my head if I don't put product in it before it dries (oh, I wish I had some our your frizz-laden hair, folks)....I crave a bit of 'poof' in the hair, just so it isn't laying smack- dab against my scalp all of the time...humidity seems to make the flatness worse, so Confixor does its' magic!. Two bottles of Confixor last me a year. It feels clean, isn't heavy or waxy, and doesn't flake at all. Worth the cost.

Confounded Confixor! I can't stand this stuff. I know some people love the scent but to me it smells smells like barber shop tonic and provides absolutely NO hold on my fine-to-medium hair. I honestly can't figure out what it does. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it isn't sticky. Expensive and ineffective. I tried using it sparingly, then a few days later when I was having no luck with that, I applied profuse amounts of it. This made my boyfriend ask, "Ew, what is that smell?" but using more of the gel didn't provide any more hold. I'm going back to Bumble & Bumble Gel, or Kiehl's Clean Hold.

Yet again, MUA has led me to a wonderful product. For years I have been using the combination of Be Curly curl enhancing lotion plus Phomollient on my long, fine textured, very curly hair. Though it works OK, the Phomollient wasn't quite cutting it in the hot, humid climate I live in. I needed something that would give me more hold and more definition. Ahhhhh... enter Confixor.
Like many of the other reviewers, I've found the combination of Be Curly lotion and Confixor to be PERFECT for delivering soft, well defined, bouncy curls that are absolutely robust to whatever the weather brings on. A little bit of Confixor is also excellent for reviving my curls the second day and has allowed me to skip a wash several times now. What's more, the pleasant Aveda smell is a nice treat every morning, and although this stuff isn't cheap, it also doesn't reach the price point of some of Aveda's newer, hype-ier offerings. I'll stick with the oldies, Aveda. Just don't pull another Sap Moss and take this wonderful product off the shelves, 'k?

I used to use this on my long permed hair. Now it's all chopped off in a pixie cut and I still use it. Smells dreamy, soft hold, never heavy or greasy or stiff, doesn't turn on you halfway through the day. It's almost like it holds moisture or conditions my hair, too. And I have thin hair that hates product.
Love this stuff.

I have straight hair and use confixor as a volumizer. I put small amount in wet hair & blow dry. It provides nice volume and control. It smells wonderful and my hair continues to smell nice throughout the day.
I really like this product.

MUA reviewer gseymour has said it all for me. First, if the stuff did nothing at all, I would still use it cause it smells freaking wonderful! But wait, it actually works well on my mass of fine, wavy/curly, layered hair. Paired with the Be Curly enhancing lotion (the original stuff, not that psycho crap in the grey bottle), and a couple squirts of Sap Moss (which is discontinued, darn them to heck), this stuff gives me light, shiny curls. If I mix it with the Smooth Infusion, my hair looks pretty darn sleek. In my opinion, this IS the AVEDA smell. I've tried to replace it time and time again for something less expensive and easier to get to, but IMO this is worth the extra time and $$.
OOPS, I should add my secret recipe for second-day curls. (I dont wash my hair everyday, too damaging.) Put a quarter sized squirt of Be Curly enhancing lotion, the same amount or a little more of Confixor, and a little bit of water into a squirt bottle. Mix thoroughly. Add water to desired level. If you add all the water at once, the enhancing lotion will not distribute correctly (think gravy). This is a great way to refresh my hair without purchasing yet another product.

I've been using Confixor for many years, and I have yet to find a hair styling product that works better for such a wide range of styles. Although I'm letting my hair grow out now, when I was keeping it short and spiky, Confixor was the absolute perfect product for that look. It's also great for adding body and control to my hair now that it's a bit longer, but not yet back to the length where it will be controlled just by its own weight. This is also a wonderful product for curly hair. Confixor long ago reached HG status for me, and isn't likely to relinquish that title until my hair gets much longer.

This is the product I've been looking for! I have fine curly hair, which works well with the Aveda Be Curly cream when it is short. But now that it is long, I have more waves and fuzz than curls, and the Be Curly cream is just not helping hold the waves in place. I need something stronger for my long fine hair. Ta da, the Confixor seems to be it!
I've worn it several days now and been really pleased - it defines my waves and curls and keeps the poofy fuzz at bay. It also does not give that "cruncy" curl look I hate - it is soft curls that are defined- perfect! It also makes my hair feel much thicker and gives some volume.
I still use a little bit of the Be Curly cream, and a little more of the Confixor. If you put too much, your hair may be sticky.

I have medium length slightly wavy normal hair. My mom suggested I use this project for volume. Every day I put a quarter sized amount of Confixor through my damp roots then blowdry upside down and feel a tremendous difference in volume as opposed to when I do not use the product. I found this product works best when I use not only Confixor on my damp roots, but Big Sexy Hair's anti-humidity volumizer. Finally, if I really want a lot of volume, I add the Aveda pure abundance powder-gel to my dry roots. :-)

This has the same exact scent as the Shampure line which I love (the scent, not the shampoo or conditioner). I have naturally curly, very thick hair. I have tried this several different ways and have found that if I use too much it makes my hair very sticky, if I use not enough then my curls get frizzy and look like crap. If I decide to round brush my hair and blow my hair out straight to give it volume, this only really works great if it's mixed with either Light Elements Smoothing Fluid or Smooth Infusion Style Prep in equal amounts. Don't even try to use it before flat ironing your hair, you will not be pleased with the results at all. When I use any gel for my curls, I like a very defined curl, with a borderline "crunchy" look. The only way I can achieve this with the Confixor is if I use a ton of it on the ends of my hair. If you ever want to roller set your hair while it's wet and have a super curl and long lasting hold, definitely use the Confixor generously before putting in your rollers (not hot rollers, for a roller set that you either let dry naturally or sit under a hood or bonnet dryer). Once you take your rollers out, the Confixor is not sticky and your curls will look great without the gel flaking or looking like plaster on your hair. I have found that the Aveda Brilliant Gel is much much better than the Confixor for naturally curly hair that you want a string hold without frizziness. I also wish the Confixor came in a pump since it is so runny, when I'm applying it and have to keep picking up the bottle with my sticky slippery hands, it gets quite messy. A pump would be just awesome.
