I'm usually not a fan of jelly nail polishes as I don't have the patience to apply multiple coats and wait for them to dry. But I love the futuristic shiny effect of this medium purple shade. The first coat was super sheer and unacceptable. The second coat was a little better but there was still something missing. It took 3 coats to build up to the bottle color. I uploaded a pic of it with 3 coats- no base or top coat. But the pic does not do the color justice as it makes it look very blueish. Granted this shade is cooler-toned, but the purple is very pretty. Reminds me of a purple vibrator I have actually ;) I plan on experimenting with this polish for different layered looks and definitely want to see how black zebra stripes will look. I am satisfied with this polish and the Sinful brand overall (great bang for your buck, and with a topcoat, they last a good while). I just hauled several of their polishes, including Fiji, and selected this shiny purple polish for a spooky October sparkle.

I bought this color because of its jelly-like effect with minimal shimmer. Although it takes at least three coats for opacity, that's the type of finish this polish is meant for and I like it. When I want a more opaque look, I apply a base coat, one coat of Essie's Merino Cool (a cool creme dusty taupe with lavender undertones) or you can just use a good old creme black polish underneath and then one thick coat of Fiji. This makes for a more opaque shade and the Merino Cool serves as a primer to lessen the amount of coats. Top it off with Seche Vite and you're good to go! I really appreciate both drugstore and high end polishes. Mixing them together have its advantages. I'll definitely purchase again.

This is definitely one of the more sheer colors, but it is very pretty if you have the time and patience. I am doing a test right now on how many coats I need. 3 is good enough for me but 4 (and I did a pretty heavy handed 4th coat) looks like it does in the bottle.
It's pretty much hit or miss with these colors but others (ex: Folly) have awesome coverage, 2 coats is perfect and you could even skate by with one if you were in a hurry.
This is not a shimmery color but if you like glitter the color Frenzy goes over this beautifully.

3 coats? I wish... more like SIX. I absolutely HATE this polish. And every time I try to use it I hate it even more. Sinful is one of my favorite brands but this is one of the shittiest polishes I've ever used. Ridiculously sheer with a goopy, drippy, gummy consistency that NEVER dries. The only reason it gets a 2 is because it's a pretty color. Pretty, but not *unique*. I can think of several dupes to this color, all of them more expensive but i will purchase them before I repurchase this crap. Horrid, Sinful, truly horrid.

just applied this the other day.
I love the color. Took about 3 coats to get the color from the bottle, but I see that more and more with even the more expensive polishes. I painted my toes so this will last for weeks... until I take it off.I use orly's bonder base coat and I used rock topcoat this time.

Unlike many other Sinful Colors, this shade does take 3 applications to get an opaque coat. The first coat applies as a very sheer lavender. Second coat is a medium purple, but still not opaque enough for me. The third coat makes is a deep (but not dark) violet with a hint of blue--the way the color looks in the bottle.

I refuse to spend a lot of money on nail polish, and when i saw this for $2 i said why not! I am really happy with it, i am only able to compare to a Wet n Wild type polish. It dried pretty quick for me and i use two coats and i got the bottle colour. I'm a happy camper :)

I really wanted to love this nail polish, the color is so gorgeous! It jsut doesnt apply well, you have to layer and layer to get a decent coat, on my toes though it was nicer. So I just might use this for my toes only.

This looks great over china glaze coconut kiss. Takes long to dry, very annoying. On its own it takes too many coats to get decent looking results. Won't buy again. Good forlayering over other polishes but that's about it

I agree with other reviewers - this color takes many coats to look good. I never got mine to end up as pretty as it looks in the bottle. Its super sheer. I gave my bottle to my lil neice. On her young toes a sheer purple polish looks cute. On me? Not so much. Would not repurchase.

It is a pretty violet polish... I found though, that you need at least 3 coats for it not to be too sheer. It seemed too runny too, if that makes sense. I do like the color when applied but I was just a little disappointed with it because the color in the bottle is much more pretty than the color that comes out. It is a good polish color and is shimmery, but I have better purples polishes I like better and end up rarely using this one. I don't think I'll repurchase just on the fact that I have and can find better quality and purple/violet polishes.

A very pretty violet purple color...This is one of the most beautiful, unique colors that I own. It has some shimmer in it and looks great, inside or out, and glows in sunlight. The wear is pretty nice on this one with a topcoat. My pic is posted above. Definitely a color to get noticed in, it's a standout against other purples :-)

the first coat was barely noticeable. i had to apply between 4-6 coats to get the bottle result. it's a very nice purple, but a little less intense from the bottle... i didnt get the results from the photo beside this review, it was less pigmented of a purple than the person who posted the pic.. it's a nice color but kinda deceiving.

This is my favorite purple polish EVER. I love the grapey royal purpleness of it, it's so pretty. It only took 2 coats for me to build to bottle color. But I tend to do rather heavy coats.
After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like people have a problem with the formula and it not drying. I think I'm so in love with sinful nail polishes because I can never wear nail polish on my hands, I instantly massacre it. So I'm almost completely a toenail polish wearer. And on my toes they dry fine and have a beautiful finish and last FOREVER. I can see why people would have problems with this line on their fingers, however. I wouldn't wear it unless you're prepared to sit and sit waiting for it to dry. Some of the colors are so beautiful, though, it's worth it!

I really like this color a lot. This is my boyfriend's favorite color, so I bought it to please him, and I think that was the first time that he ever paid attention to my nails lol. The first coat for me is SUPER sheer; I could barely see it. After 2-3 coats though, it turned into a nice dark violet :). I love Sinful nail polishes, a great quality nail polish for a fantastic price (about $2). I get this at walgreens, I highly recommend! :D

Fiji is my favorite medium-dark purple shimmer, and one of my favorite pedi colors. It's just a little cool-toned, yet still more purple than blurple. The shimmer is very smooth, somewhere between pearly and foily. It's a bit on the thin side so it's a three-coater for me.

This is a beautiful deep violet blue, the true color of wild violets that bloom in the spring. I'm a big fan of Sinful polishes - great price & color selection with a nice texture.

These are BOGOF right now at Walgreens, so they cost .99 each. Woo hoo! This is a medium pearly purple. So pretty, not too loud. The round bottle is a little difficult to hold, but it has a wide brush.

Another review for another great Sinful polish. Right now I am on a Sinful polish kick...Sinfuls are such a great and affordable alternative for higher-end nail color brands like OPI...and at a fraction of the price, they really are a steal!
Anyhows, Fiji is no exception... I would describe Fiji as a true medium orchid-purple with very faint red shimmer. It is really hard to see the red, but I've been staring at my nails now for a while, and I can say with high certainty that it has a red base shimmer, and not gold...lol..Of course, red+blue=purple, so you will definitley see blue flecks of shimmer ever so faintly....I find that application is easy and dries pretty fast. Fiji dries to a semi-gloss finish which I absolutely love. The consistency of Sinful polishes are just right-maybe bordering on a bit too thin for others, but not me! Great lasting power too! as I have had this color on now for 3 days without a base or topcoat, and I have very minimal wear on my tips--impressive considering I've been doing a lot of housework and outdoor activities!! Sinful Fiji is my pre-Easter mani color...reminds me of a colored easter egg =)
