I love this lipstick. It is hydrating and gives a slight plumping effect. I use this in one of the nude shades--Persimmon--and find it to be more vibrant than most nude shade lipsticks I have tried. I do not notice the mint or vanilla taste or smell, but these are ingredients in this product. The container resembles recycled brown paper and I find it to be cheaply constructed and ugly looking. While this very minor complaint would not prevent me from repurchasing this product, I wish Aveda would redesign the packaging. A $20 lipstick shouldn't make you think about recycling, ugly brown plastic, or the brown paper towels found in a port-o-potty.

I needed to replace 2 of my Aveda lipsticks from 2 years ago (Sun and Lychee Splash), and the consultant at the Aveda store told me the formulation had changed. She said it was less drying than the formula I'd used up, and added vanilla and peppermint.
I tried the new version of Sun, and it was too brown. So I splurged on the new Lychee Splash, and a new Sheer, Sheer Filarie. They fit into the same recyclable containers I'd had, so off I went.
It was love at first lick. The lipstick tastes like the original Aveda lipsticks I fell in love with in the early 90s, and I don't have to use lip balm under it. They don't last quite as long, but I don't have the ring around the lip issues I had previously.
Definitely love it, will definitely purchase again in new colors. I haven't used my Bobbi Brown stuff since buying this!

In March 2008, I saw an ad for these brand new lipsticks that Aveda had just debuted that month. I had stopped using Aveda lipsticks because I couldn't find a color I liked, nothing that went with my pale skin and brown eyes. I went to my local Aveda store because I was curious about the color Cherrybud. I am always looking for a good red lip color. Well, I'm totally thrilled. I love this lipstick so much! I have Cherrybud and Cerise, and I have fallen completely head over heels. Cherrybud is a dark neutral red that looks exactly like the color of a pomegranate seed, everything I have been searching for. It is my new HG red, surpassing all other HG reds; that's how perfect this color is. Cerise is a dark rose pink that looks very natural. The new formula is absolutely divine, with pomegranate oil and babassu oil -- and Maxi Lip! So creamy and moisturizing. My lips are incredibly soft and smooth. They look and feel plump already and I've only been using these colors for two weeks. The colors are so pigmented that they leave a long-lasting stain on my lips even after eating, drinking, blotting, etc. And after the color wears off, my lips still feel soft and moisturized like I just applied lip balm. Hands down, this is the best lipstick I have found so far.

I have been waiting for these to come out. I went to my salon not too long ago looking for a red color, only to find out they discontinued one that they had at Christmas, and that there was a new formula coming out. I stopped in today as I knew they would be out soon, and guess what?! There they were. These are supposed to be a plumping/smoothing type lipstick. I can just say that I am in love. I bought the Poppy which is a creamy bright pink/red, but a very wearable color. I also bought the Sheer Saffron, which is a brown based red color, which on me is MYLBB. Neither color has shimmer, but there are a number of shimmery colors. The colors are broken down into Vibrants (which these are from) Neutrals, and a third which I forgot the name of (but they were very purplish colors) The formula is incredible. Much better than the others. It is very creamy, and glides on. No drying feel. The scent is a mint and vanilla, which is very soothing. I don't know about the whole plumping effect as of yet, but I do feel that they are moisturizing and feel great on my lips. I do like that they still utilize the recycleable packaging, and there are new cases that are green and silver, much nicer to carry around than that ugly brown one that looked like my vitamins. Will repurchase!
