I really like the look that this mascara gives. It is very black. You don't need a curler with it as it has some kind of adhesive in the formula that apparently curls the lashes for you, just hold the brush in place for a few seconds. It gives a beautiful thick, full look, and is 2 mascaras in one. The bigger side smudges badly, you have to be quite wary and possible prop a piece of card to shield your lid from possible smudges. It does give a nice look, similar to Chanel Inimitable. The smaller side gives major clumping. Le2 won't last through tears, yet lasts reasonably well without flaking. I would give it 2-3 stars if it weren't for the nightmarish reaction I had to it! The reason for the one star is that this mascara burns, irritates, and hurts my eyes like nothing else. The first week I was fine. It was afterwards that it became awful! i mentioned this on the makeup board here and other forum members who have tried it said they had the same experience!
.
I persisted using this (had not realized my eye irritation was caused by it then) and then over the days my eyes got a major swelling with little red bumps and my left eye was swollen in the most awful way, disfigured, horrible, it is still recovering. It hurt to blink, took 3 days for the swelling to go down (i went almost a week not using any eye makeup to help it), today it is finally okay. I will try to return it, but if they don't take it back, into the trash can and never again! Have not had a reaction like this in my life and I have used loads of mascaras. It gives a nice look but honestly I have gotten the same look from several drugstore mascaras.

I love this mascara even though it costs $38. One side has a tiny brush and the other side has a silicon larger brush. I use the tiny side first to really get a lifting action. Then I go back in with the larger side. This side really lengthens and separates the lashes. This formula never clumps of flakes.

I found this mascara hard to apply and the results were clumpy. For something so expensive I was very disappointed. I found that I could only go over my lashes once before they all started to stick together which meant I couldn't get them looking super long, I then tried letting the mascara dry and then applying a second layer but it turned my eyelashes so brittle I couldn't layer it that way either. I did love the second little brush, such an awesome idea and makes getting the corner and lower lashes so easy but the actual mascara was no good. I took it back to the shop and got my money back. I'm only giving it a two because of the awesome little brush and the nice packaging.

To start off, my lashes are very thick, long, but difficult to hold a curl. Many mascaras either create the spider-lashes effect, have a formula that is so heavy it makes my lashes droop, or flakes or smudges on my bottom lash line.
This mascara applies like a dream, I can put on more than 1 coat. I tried it at the store without an eyelash curler and it already gave my eyelashes a slight curl, I was in love. This mascara definitely lengthens and gives some volume. I love that it didn't clump and gave my eyelashes a slight curl without a curler! It also does not smudge on me even in 90+ degree heat. The formula is not too wet, which I like, because I hate it when I get mascara all over my eyes, or when my curl gets weighed down.
I say try it at a neiman marcus/nordstrom/bloomingdales with one of their tester wands before you buy it!

I took a lippie off for the price, it is expensive unfortunately

My latest favourite mascara is BeneFit's "They're Real" after using Clarin's Double Fix to help my straight lashes keep curl. I used to use Maybelline's Voluminous (any) or Full 'n' Soft (any), all waterproof. BeneFit's TR gives awesome volume, lengthens and doesn't smudge which is great for my Asian eyes and lashes. I find the combo of BeneFit and Clarin's easy enough to use but I was hoping that the miracle of the Guerlain 2 would nix needing 2 products.

I didn't find it lived up to expectation though. The bristles are short and don't catch all lashes. It also smudges on me. I got the waterproof one - I usually use waterproof - and didn't find it particularly hard to remove even though it did smudge.

I'm going to exchange it to go back to BeneFit. =(

This Mascara initally goes on really nicely, then after a while the appliciation becomes clumpy, it needed a wipe and now its less clumpy. Soft application and picks up the lashes well, but wouldn't buy again.

This mascara has really good staying power. It can be difficult to remove at the end of the day. I don't if this is waterproof, but I would wear this when swimming and it never smear off. The wand is so perfect and having a tiny wand to get the inner corner of my eye lashes I gave it only 3 lippies because it is very difficult to wash off. I will repurchase if I am going away on a trip where I will be at the beach daily.

Gross! Clumpy, fragranced, unflattering. It's extremely expensive for such an underperforming product. Glad I had a gift certificate for this! One light coat clumps like crazy on me, one of the worst mascaras I've tried for this. It hurts my eyes to distraction and they're not sensitive. A big fail, especially for the price.

I love the luxurious look of this mascara and love the 2-in-1 function with the second smaller brush. Overall, I think this is a fairly mediocre mascara. The consistency of the formula is smooth and not too thick. The initial coat applies really nicely. Doesn't have a significant lengthening or volumizing effect. The second coat really ruins it for me. Even though it layers on pretty smoothly without causing any major unsightly clumps, the weight is really heavy. I curl my lashes prior to applying, but the mascara really weighs down the curls.

I do like the staying power, as well as the scent. Those adverse to strongly scantly product will definitely want a big sniff test at the counter, as I have found that the scent lingers for hours.

I love this mascara, but I HATE the packaging. I hate the wand so much that I bought a tube of Maybelline to steal the wand from. I'm not sure I'll repurchase simply because of the wand. It does stay put, though. And with my eye allergies, that's a rare thing.

Not impressed with this at all even though I loved the packaging. It did nothing extraordinary. For the price it's not very good. I like the smaller lower lash brush but overall a very average mascara. Still looking...

This is my go to mascara. Yes it is expensive, but it is a two in one product. At first I was very hesitant to try it, typically I like big wide spooly brushes (bad gal lash). I love how black this is, makes my eyelash's long, full and voluminous. The formula doesn't clump, smudge or flake. The brush is built so it evenly coats and separates my lash's. The small brush is perfect for the bottom lashes and gives the ultimate doll like look.

Great product, does take a little getting used too but once you have mastered the technique-wow! The trick is to do one eye at a time, put one coat then another- or may be 3 coats on you top lashes. Then do the other eye. When finished use the little brush to do bottom lashes and a little to top lashes if desired. My SA told me this way and it makes for the biggest, longest lashes. I am constantly being asked if my eyelashes are my own!

Nothing special.
PROS: I like the tiny brush and the packaging.
CONS: makes my lashes feel dry and crunchy, hard to remove because feels like waterproof, average volume and length, dries out fast.

Thus has been my HG mascara for almost 3yrs(since it came out). I curl my lashes(shu curler) then put this on and not a day goes by when I don't get a compliment on my lashes. My lashes look dark, thick, full of volume. They're not crunchy looking but they look so full and soft, featherlike. This also holds a curl great.

It sure it nice not having 2 spend money on mascara anymore. It's extra $$ I can spend on blush:-)

lo v e the packaging, it's reeeally cute haha. mascara, not so much.

EDIT: I adore the small brush! it really fans put your lashes and gets the corners! love love love the small side! sometimes it's a little hard to control tho :P I'm still not sure about thelengthening aide, haven't tried that in a while.

the lengthening part of the mascara is extremely clumpy for me, it makes me pretty mad. the small volume side is alright, I think it's pretty good that the brush is small, good to use in corners. I'm going to try outing on mascara next time by wipin a bit of product off the lengthening brush, and use the mini volumizing one for my entire eye.

wouldn't repurchase, I got this as a gift anyway!

i didn't think i'd like this, because i don't usually like plastic comb applicators. but it's awesome! i used both brushes for their intended purposes. i layered both on good, and wow! POW! serious long, defined, full doll eyelashes. no flaking, smudging it. difficult to get off but worth it.

I purchased Guerlain
Le 2 Volume Mascara hoping that this would be the "it " mascara for me. Unfortunately i was wrong. It lengthened my lashes a bit (but that was because i wore lash primer underneath). There was nothing dramatic that occurred for a $36 dollar mascara. The other soft q-tip wand that is then supposed to darken the lashes just ended up seperating them more and my lashes looked sparse. I would not recommend purchasing this mascara. its expensive and not worth it, i would rather stick to Yves Saint Laurent!

Is there a review anywhere on the Le 2 de Guerlain Lacquered Volume mascara? Has anyone tried it?

I've tried it ONCE and it was beautiful. I did not curl my lashes prior, and this mascara curled my lashes beautifully on its own. As far as lengthening and volumizing goes, I can never tell because my lashes are naturally thick and long. While wearing this mascara, my co-workers were arguing with each other (and me) about whether or not my lashes were falsies or extensions (it's neither, I SWEAR on my life my lashes are real and all natural). This has major potential for HG mascara for me, BUT:

1) I'm still on the fence about it because of the price.
2) I haven't tried it with my mascara base (which I MUST wear if I don't want my lashes to fall off).
3) Don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do with the other wand (a sponge-type applicator meant to be coated on top of the mascara to add a 'stunning vinyl finish').

Need a second opinion before purchasing~
Please and thanks! :)

I have this in Black.
I saw what a sexy case this came in and I had to buy it. I don't hate this product, I'm a just a bit disappointed.
The formula, though, is magical. It holds a curl while still being flexible. Never, ever flakes. Even though it's not advertised as being waterproof, it is. Just if your eyelashes get wet don't touch them. This stuff even my eyelashes soft after I wear it. And I've had fewer eyelashes falling out when I take off my mascara.
I love the little tiny brush. I always put mascara on my bottom lashes and this really helps. Makes it completely mess free haha.
Now the disappointing part. This gave me just a little bit of length and volume. This is good for a natural look, but if I'm spending $40 on a mascara I expect something more WOW. I didn't return this to Sephora because my eyelashes are reasonably long and thick. They're just blonde.. which is funny because I'm not blonde.. but anyway, as long as it doesn't clump and it makes my eyelashes black, it's acceptable. So this passed the test. I just prefer a little more oomph in a mascara. The only reason this gets a 4 is because the formula is so great.
