I have very fine, flat hair that's pretty weird- it's curly/wavy underneath but then pretty straight on top. I've been searching for my HG curling product that would define my curls underneath and also sculpt some on top. This product worked AMAZINGLY well. I've tried many curling cremes, gels, mousses, you name it.. I haven't found anything that made my hair so curly, voluminous, bouncy, yet still soft at the same time! I scrunched this in the ends of my damp hair and added some Aussie flexible hold hairspray and then scrunched some more.. it lasted all day and looked great! It's definitely worth trying!

I love this product! I have long, thick, curly hair. Not to mention frizzy. I need about a silver dollar sized amount of this product to tame my hair. Makes my curls..... curlier? Also, it doesn't make it crunchy so it pretty much looks like my hair is naturally that soft and shiny. HA. And I don't have to pair it with any other products. Another pro is that it smells good. I always get compliments on how good my hair smells :) Doesn't really give it volume though, which sucks. But that's what a diffuser is for!

This is a great product! It smells absolutely delicious and does exactly what it says it does. It does not leave your hair crunchy and it makes your curls extremely nice and soft. This one is a keeper!

I have super curly hair and this is the only product I use on it to keep them from getting frizzy and dry during the day. I go through so many of these. I comb my hair in the shower so that I can de-tangle it (it has to be soaking wet to comb through), and once I am out, I apply a quarter size amount to my ends since they need moisture the most, then a nickle size amount to the rest of my hair and my scalp. I do this just about everyday since I can't really style my hair unless it is wet first. So this stuff is great! I let my hair air dry and this product takes care f the rest. It doesn't leave my curls crunchy. It leaves them all soft and defined. This is the only product I need for my super curly hair!

I am a huge fan of almost every Garnier product I try - this being one of the only exceptions. I have had great success with mousses in the past, but I saw this on the Garnier website and it seemed to get good reviews so I gave it a shot.
I have fairly fine 2B/C hair, and I find that this just weighs it down and makes it clump more than anything. It feels oily in my hands, and makes my hair feel (and look) greasy after it's applied. My hair looks and feels like it needs to be washed, no matter how much of the product I use.
If you have hair like me, this is definitely not for you. I've had it for over a year now and nothing I ever try with it works - it's finally going in the garbage.

I like the smell and consistency of this product, but overall, it just didn't work for my hair (wavy/frizzy). It didn't control frizz at all for me or help define my curls. I like the spray gel much better than this stuff.

I love this product! It is my go to curl product, and I have tried more than I care to count. It works especially well in the summer, I can just let my hair air dry after using this, and I get great curl and very little frizz. It never makes my hair crunchy, and while I don't mind paying a lot for products that work - this has a side benefit of being shockingly cheap! I've used it for over a year, and I don't have any problems with it.

I think this had one "bad" silicone in it so its not Curly Girl approved. Which sucks because I really like this. I will continue to use but I might have to consider finding a replacement.
I love this in my 3C DD's hair. After washing & applying a leave-in, I put a decent amount of this in her hair and she's good to go. Her curls are short and very spring-y so she doesn't really need a lot of hold. (I am going to experiment with adding the smoothing milk to see if I can combat frizz a bit more). Soft, shiny & well defined curls.
I also add a tiny amount of this to gel & apply to my 3A/B DD's hair. This lessens the crunch and adds softness.

Overall, I like this gel. I have thick, long, permed hair that tends to be frizzy from over-styling and this gel works really well for taming frizz. It feels a little slick and oily in your hands (I'm thinking it much be packed with silicone) but it doesn't seem to weigh my hair down. It's more of a smoothing gel so don't expect a whole lot of hold but it's nice if you want a softer more natural curl look. Will I repurchase? Maybe. It's good but I'm always looking for something better.

oh m god. holy grail product. first off, THIS IS NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH THIN HAIR. my hair is INCREDIBLY thick and VERY curly. I use other products for anti frizz and hydration, but this is the only product that i CANNOT live a single day without. if they ever discontinued this... i cant even think about it. it makes my unmanageable hair have defined curls, and i literally have gone through 6 bottles of this stuff. if you have fine hair, DO NOT buy this, because you will get residue and if you have thin curls, im pretty sure it'll be crunchy. it smells good, the packaging is good, this product is THE shit.

I love, love, LOVE this product. I discovered it about the end of February and had been using it daily. I was switching from Curls Rock curl amplifier and was ecstatic with what I had just found. I quit using this product about 5 weeks ago because I was getting this white gunk stuck to the ends of my hair that WILL NOT come out. I am still having trouble picking this out of my hair. I wish that it did not do that to my hair, because it always made my curls smooth and they looked amazing. I hope that this is something that will be fixed so I can use it again. :(

Just discovered this cream gel and am loving it! It's always an issue to find products that help control frizz, soften texture, and don't crunch. This product does them all. I apply to damp hair over conditioner. Just lightly scrunch it in and I'm good to go. My hair is very curly but dry, thin, and fragile. I have a tendency to layer too much product on and that's not good either, but a little goes a long way with this cream. They only other product that has worked as well or mayby just slightly better is Alterna Straightening Balm which I used as a gel not a straightener. This product is almost identical. The scent is a little too strong for me but dissipates as it dries. I'm hooked and I will buy this as long as they make it! I hope that's forever.

I had thought some of my curl had fizzled out with my age, but apparently I just needed the right product. I have used this gel-cream in conjunction with both air drying and diffuser drying, and the "boing" and definition it gives my curls is amazing. The scent is rather powerful IMO, but not unpleasant. I can deal with that considering the benefits of using this amazing styling product. I love the fact that it provides great hold yet no crunchiness, and it helps tame frizz. It is easy to revive my ringlets after laying on them all night with a little spritz of water too. I just love this stuff!
My hair is semi-thick and rather coarse (shaft diameter is large), and it can be dry. It is bra-strap length when wet and just past my shoulders when dry, so it shrinks a lot as it curls. I do not find the gel-cream heavy or greasy at all for my hair type. Those who had this issue could have a hair type that is not suited to this formula, or maybe they need less of it? It says to use a "quarter-size" dallop, but that might not work for everyone. Fine hair would probably need less than that, and if you use it on wet hair, it will spread easier. I noticed that the directions are similar to those of Garnier's leave-in conditioner, which I also use right before this curl definer. Both say to use on damp, towel-dried hair, but I use them on my freshly rinsed hair that is just about soaking wet. I don't towel my hair too much as this contributes to frizz- I know you other curly heads know about that! It is better to just blot the extra water out- no rubbing! Someone should let Garnier know too, I guess.

I read great reviews and thought I might really like this. Sadly, it didn't work for my naturally curly, dry coarse hair. It made my hair look dirty, a little greasy and didn't define my curls.
The texture is really weird and slimy too. It didn't smell like the Garnier shampoos and conditioners either, kind of like grapefruit.

This is HG, and I have never said that about a product. I use this while my hair is dripping wet in the shower, and scrunch with a cotton tee. Viola perfect frizz free curls every time. I get compliments on how good my hair smells and its incredibly cheap. What's not to love

Love this stuff. I buy it up every time it goes on sale at Walgreens. I live in either medium or long length, naturally curly, color-treated, light textured but full-bodied hair. After trying a million different brands, types, etc., of gels, mousses, creams, and other styling products, I landed on this one because it just plain works. The only other product that comes close is the Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel. But, the Garnier product is both easier to find and cheaper. Although, I've noticed that the grocers who had carried it in the past (Albertsons, etc) are no longer carrying this product.
Keeps most fly-aways and other static hair chaos at bay, but my hair looks natural (no stickies or gooies). My hair doesn't get too kinky-curly when using. Lasts the whole day--especially since I use it generously. Best results are on days that I don't wash my hair, but just wet it in the shower, and a few hours after application (i.e. late afternoon if I applied the product in the morning). Works either with a hair dryer or natural dry. Smells nice. Easy to apply evenly.

this product is great! i love the fact that its a Cream-gel and due to that it moisturizes my hair. its not sticky and doesn't leave your curls and waves hard. on the contrary, it leaves your hair soft, with long lasting hold, bounce and healthy shine. plus, a little goes a long way so the product lasts:)!

Idk about this product, I wash my hair twice a week & each time I do so I flat iron my hair. I know that's very harsh to my hair so I decieved to define my naturally curly hair. I went on the Garnier website (because that's the only hair products I really stick to) and watch a how to video for curly hair. The video was very convincing so I went & purchased it. This product didn't do for me what it did for the girl's hair in the video. It honestly just mad it less frizzing. I'm still on the hunt for my "curl activator".
I will not be purchasing this product again.

This is a wonderful product for people with curly hair. It smells amazing and is very easy to work with. It only costs $3.00 where I live and lasts a long time. You only need a very small amount for each use. A tiny little bit rubbed between your palms will fix flyaways and frizz as well as define curl. That being said, this product will not create curls where there are none. I don't know how this would work on straight hair. This is the only product I use in my hair on a regular basis. It is really a miracle. It doesn't make your hair crunchy or hard. You cannot tell you even have product in your hair when you use this. It just looks like you have naturally amazing hair. I get lots of compliments on the smell of my hair after I use this. I will always repurchase this product. It's a miracle product.
