I randomly asked for this in a swap and am so glad I did!! I had given up on MAC lipsticks but THIS is the one that redeems all the other huge MAC fails! Why do I love it so? First of all, it's the perfect plummy brown that I have been searching for. Secondly, it's not too sheer like some lustres can be. Third, it goes on like a dream - one swipe gives you just the right perfect even pigment. I deducted one lippie because in general I find MAC l/s to be very drying to my lips. Otherwise it's P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

This does not look good with my tan-olive skin. The formula is smooth, the scent is fine but this shade is just too purple-gray to look good on me. I can just about make it work with nude lipgloss on top

5N is a muted plum/brown color. The pic displayed above is not a true representation of this shade in my opinion. No shimmer and the texture is smooth and creamy. Its a nice neutral color but I'm not crazy about it. Sometimes when I wear it it almost looks like I have smoker's lips. I will work with this more but for right now this will not be in heavy rotation.

Would I buy this again? Yes yes yes, A thousand times yes! I love 5N! I missed it the first time around, but when I saw it in the All Races collection (along with liqueur, another one of my all times faves), I just HAD to pick it up and I'm so glad I did. It's the perfect almost nude shade for me. It's a Lustre, so it's just a hint of color, kind of a plummy brown, but you can layer it for more color if you'd like. It's DIVINE, especially paired with liqueur lipglass. I'd definitely repurchase this one.

Could not get this color to work for me. Was a muddy plum like mess. I am NC44 for reference. Don't know what I did wrong since so many seem to love it. Not me

I am loving this color. Not really a nude on me....more of a sheer plummy color. but looks great and really brightens up my face for the winter. I find that my creme d'nude is too light on my nc25 skin in the winter time so this (and think tan)will be my winter shade. Will repurchase.UPDATE: upped it to 5! I put it on over a lip balm and it was a perfect MLBB shade. LIke i had bitten my lips really hard. brightens up my whole face and is just the perfect shade for my skintone.

Look up! swatched it for yall, while wearing 3n lipglass on top. Ok 5N has ended my never ending quest for the perfect nude lipstick. I'm between an nc45-nc 50 in fondation for referrence. I am in love with 5n. 5n is a color that is difficult for me to discribe. I really comes alive once lipglassis layered on. I was told by my MA theat flashmode lustre glass would be a good choice. I plan on trying that combo, for now i'm loving it with 3n lipglass on top. PLEASE DO NOT miss out on 5 N i waited a full year for mac to reintroduce it. I plan on hoarding as many tubes of 5n as my finances will allow me. By the way, I also found my perfect nude lipglass, no powdered donut lips, and with enough color to just wear with a liner " spirit and soul lipglass" :))
update:
i almost purchased " hold the pose" lipstick today, until i noticed that its basically " 5n" with a sheen ( just though id let yall know that.)

I'm not really a nude lip kind of girl but I seem to adore items from the N collection. MA applied this color with Flashmode lustre glass on top and I was sold! 5n is my exact lip color and makes my lips look more uniform and even. I've been wearing this with various dazzleglasses on top. What else can I say, I'm loving this plummy, sheer, brown color.

This a beautiful nude brown color and it can be paired with any type of eyeshadow look you are wearing. It's a lustre so it goes on really smooth and it's not too dark of a brown. I'm an NC50 and alot browns this color usually don't look right on me because browns tend to wash me out since I'm brown. I purchased this during the All Races, All Ages MAC Collection. I will probably purchase a back up. Who knows when MAC will launch this lipstick again.

this was way too dark for my FFF NC15 complexion. I was oping for a dark nude but it looked like a muddy brown. I'll leave this color for the olive skinned gals. It gets 3 lippies because it was very smooth and had great color payoff without layering it on.

Wow! I was shoppng at Macys today and I was at the Mac counter asking if there were any limited items left over in anything! I am a limited junkie, anyway the lady went to the drawer where they keep there stash, and yes! she found a few things, the 5N lipstick! There were two! I was so trilled! its a nude color but once on my pigmented lips it turns into a mauve subtle shade so beautiful! I wish I had purchased the other one but I felt bad for the sales lady she wanted it too! it will be my HG for a while of course until Mac comes out with other limited colors.

So much more then just a plain old brown..When it first arrived I thought I had made a big mistake because first off, I'm an NC15 and 2nd if does look like your average '90's poo brown BUT in the tube only. Applied it's a beigey brown w/ raisiny/wine tones that when blotted, gives the effect of a stain..It looks like like my lips but way better(and only slightly darker) Very natural. AND its a lustre formula which I love also..very moisturizing.Definitely worth checking out

Wow! Lovely grey-brown lustre. Lovely. Perfect for those of us in the NC 40-50s. Not flat looking at all. I really like this one a lot!!

This is a great shade. I have very pigmented lips that make most brown-nudes end up looking orange or hideously pinky-brown. Like the previous review stated, it is the formula -- Lustre. It's great under gloss (I use Love Nectar), but I wear it alone (or with Whirl or Hover liner) for work days. The formula is undeniably MAC Lustre (which I LOVE). The color I think it's closest to is probably Verve...but lighter due to the formula. Wish it wasn't Limited Edition...and hope they come out with a similar shade that's permanent in their line.

I see a lot of 5N love on the boards, I'm surprised to be the first one to write a review. First off, I'm NC45 and I'm in so in love w/ 5N that I've purchased one back up and am thinking about purchasing another since its LE. How to describe the color, well, it reminds me of a subtle brown nude but not dead looking. It reminds me of the brown lipsticks of the nineties, but not as drying as all the matte formula which was the only thing available back then. I think the winning combination here is shade and Lustre formula. Oh and did I mention there is NO SHIMMER? Another reason I'm in love, I can wear it to work and not feel like a woman trying to recapture here teenage years. It would be great if MAC made this a part of their permanent collection, but in case they don't, I may still buy a third back up because I would be so mad at myself if I ever ran out and couldn't replace it. oh and while i'm thinking about it, the shade is also like soothing beige tinted lip contioner (HG) in a lipstick formula.
