I have had this product for a while and pulled it back out of my bag of tricks again! I noticed when I only use a small amount mixed with other products that it really seals my ends nice. I use it on damp hair and it really works well on those crunchy ends. I will continue to buy. I am sorry I shelved it for so long. I have not tried it in the humidity as of yet, so I may update this at some point.

My stylist turned me on to this product 2 years ago and I've never looked back! My hair is thick and wavy and tends to be frizzy and dry due to flat ironing on a daily basis. This product does what it says! Smells so good! It does not cut the frizz completely it comes very close my roots look 100% better. I absolutely recommend to those with thick/wavy hair!

I'm SHOCKED that there is anyone who doesn't love this product! As someone with thick, wavy hair, i'm always looking for things that de-pouf my hair and this delivers...
I find that it cuts drying time by a lot but the only complaint i have is that it makes my hair TOO slippery for a flat iron - I have to mix in a little gel when I plan to straighten because otherwise my hair slides through the iron too easily and doesnt straighten well...

This is my favorite straightening balm. A dime size amount of product is all you need. It makes the process of blow drying my hair much faster. Sometimes I just put the product into my damp hair and let it air dry. Once dry, I flat iron my hair in sections. This stuff paired with my flat iron gets my hair perfectly straight. Love it!

I got a small bottle of this with my serum, and it worked great with my hair. I like the smell of the super skinny line Paul Mitchell has. Like the reviewer below me I have the same type of hair. My hair is curly, thick and now that it's shorter it's poofier. As the name of the product says "Super Skinny Relaxing Balm" my hair feels more relaxed after I use this, without having to spend too much time styling my hair to avoid frizz.

For reference, I have a lot of medium-thick, wavy, extremely frizzy hair which is currently almost waist-length. It's the type of hair that, when cut short, turns into a giant fluff ball.
This works quite well, making my hair soft, silky and shiny. It doesn't completely eliminate frizz, but I'd be hard-pressed to name a product that does. It doesn't really make my hair straight either, which is nice. The scent is very pretty and floral.
Overall, it's a nice product and I'll be repurchasing this. :)

This stuff sucked for me. It weighs my fine hair down no matter how much or how little I use. I find it doesn't smooth my hair out at all and it doesn't do anything for shine or protection in my opinion. The serum is much better. Unfortunately since it was so expensive I have to use it up :/

No matter how you do your homework ahead of time, some times you just never know what cosmetics or hair products will work for you until you try them yourself, do you? Based on the reviews of this product I probably never would have tried this stuff. I've been using the Super Skinny Serum before flat ironing for quite some time now. It makes my hair sleek and shiny, but also just a tad greasy. On a whim, without checking reviews here first, I decided to try the balm. After applying to damp hair, I must admit I didn't like the way it felt. I decided to style with my new hot air brush and was thrilled with the results. My hair was soft and had noticeable body. Now of course, I can't be sure if the hair product or new tool had more to do with this outcome, but nonetheless I'm a happy camper.

I really like this product. I have very fine, wavy frizzy hair. This helps tame the frizz w/o making my hair flat or greasy. I usually mix a tiny drop of the serum with this for a little extra shine.

Overall good product. Clean scent, great quality, great consistency, fair price for amount of product you end up with. Did leave my hair soft to the touch and sped up drying time. Unfortunately it did not do much when it came to the relaxing nor the frizz. Would not recommend for naturally curly, thick, frizzy hair.

wow..ok. bought the travel size of this. liked it quite a bit and did not think too much of it when it ran out. My hair is very damaged right now and i did realize that my hair seemed to behave better when i had it, but i have so many other products that i could not justify going out and buying a full size. I have the super skinny serum which also seemed to work fine, but I really thought that the balm might just be better for me. My hair has not been looking good for the last few weeks and i was trying to figure out what i was doing differently. I remembered this stuff and thought that maybe it was that? I splurged at bought the super skinny balm for around 20.00. This, mixed with the ss serum might be the only things i need on my hair. really?! I have hundreds (no exaggeration) of products. These two have really made my hair look different and behave. It just sort of feels like normal hair. In a good way. It has movement, is shiny and just sort of falls the way I remember it. It may look better one day comapred to the next, but overall, I just have good normal hair days. I just need the breakage to grow out....that is another review (or two or three).

This was very disappointing. It lacks any hold, though it makes my hair soft when it dries. It relaxes the curl but doesn't do much for frizz-control. My hair looked dull with this which was very surprising. It has a very liquidy consistency and while I will have to experiment more with how much to use for my hair, I don't see myself purchasing this again. This perhaps might be better suited for those with finer hair or with wavy hair.

LOVE this stuff. There is a lot of product in the bottle and it lasts forever. I use about 1-2 pumps each time. I find that is makes my hair dry much faster, although, I wouldn't say that it completely tames the frizz. It does give a big help to the frizz. I would definitely repurchase, as a matter of fact, I have a backup bottle "just in case".

I bought the travel/sample size of this product after my stylist used it on my thick, poofy, prone to frizziness hair.
I hardly ever use it alone, so I can't speak to it that way. I usually use two pumps with a nickle size amount of Modern Elixers Styling Serum. My hair usually looks like something out of the 1980s after blow drying but this styling combo makes my hair super sleek, soft, and manageable. The hold is good and my style lasts for 24 - 48 hours without any stickiness or stiffness.
I also like this product a lot more than Sunsilk Anti-poof Hair Creme or Chi Silk Infusion. This works way better than Sunsilk and smells better than Chi Silk Infusion. With the ME serum and this stuff, I still don't feel like anything is in my hair and the lasting result is better.

I got this because I had run out of my Alterna Hemp straightening balm and I've used it up, but won't be repurchasing. I have med, wavy/curly hair that is dry and frizzy and living in the humid Gulf, I need a product that will stop frizzy plus relax my curl a bit. The smell of this is nice, fruity/floral, not overpowering, the texture is more fluid than the denser Alterna balm, which immediately had me worried as I need a thick product. Also, if you've tried Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Gel, the Super Skinny is decidedly more liquid in texture. Results: very disappointed in frizz control although it did a good job of pulling down my curl. I also use the Super Skinny serum, which I put on halfway through drying, and after drying my hair has already frizzed up. Possibly, if you have more wavier hair rather than curly, this would work, also if your hair is finer in texture.

This came free when I bought the super skinny serum thank goodness. This did nothing to help smooth my hair. The serum is a much better product. I use this on towel dried hair before I blow dry. If I use it alone I see no change and using it with the serum it looks the same as if I used the serum alone (which is a good product). So in the bin with this. I'll stick with the skinny serum.

I tried this to try and help control my frizzy hair. It helped a little but not like the serum does, I usually use this when I don't want to do much to my hair( just leave it curly) and it helps not make if really puffy and crazy but after awhile I have somewhat white flaky stuff in my hair. Looks kinda like when we use to have big hair and used alot of hair spray. Other than that its ok. Not sure if I will buy again.

This product dried even more my already dry, thick hair. Also, it tangled my hair and lacked lustre. Did abosolutely nothing to control freeze in high humidity. Horrible product! This product and the serum are overrated. Do not fall into the advertising gimmick!

I got a free sample from my hair salon. I use super skinny serum and this doesnt compare. It makes my hair a little harder to manage and tangles.I think its the wheat protein in this that makes my hair tangly. If you have weak hair maybe this would be good for you.I have bi racial frizzy hair and I will not purchase this product.I like my hair to have movement and I felt a little wighed down with this also.Sux

This is not bad, but I'm not sure I'm ready to give it HG status yet. I have fine, flat hair that has gotten wavier with age, especially the hairs by the crown that frame my face. I apply this to damp hair and it definitely speeds up the drying process. My hair usually doesn't take that long to blowdry because it's slightly longer than shoulder-length and not thick, but with this balm is really sped things up, I was seriously done in about 10 seconds.
In terms of straightening/relaxing properties, this is not nearly as good as John Frieda's Straight Fixation, but it's also more lightweight and more suited to my hair. However, I can still get away wtihout flat ironing - I just need one of those bristly flat paddle brushes to blow my hair straight.
The bottle says to use 2-4 pumps but with my hair texture/length, I find that one pump is enough for the hair surrounding my face, with the excess applied to my bangs. Less is really more, or you'll end up with piece-y, greasy looking hair.
