I have rebought this body butter 6-7 times since first receiving a deluxe sample from Sephora and it's now my HG body moisturizer. I am extremely picky about scents, favouring natural based ones over all others. Every time it smells slightly different to me, always good, but the variance I think is due to the natural ingredients which by their very definition will change in accordance to weather, season, growing conditions...
The smell is a delicious and comforting blend of coconut, tiare flower and vanilla with some added woodsy notes. To my sensitive nose it smells only reminiscent of suntan lotion, while being something entirely more exquisite. It does not have the nauseating quality if cheapo synthetic or adulterated vanilla IMHO. It leaves a fairly scensuous base vanilla note that I will sometimes notice in the shower the next day.
The texture is thick and emollient while still drying down pretty fast. It leaves only a very slight waxy sensation, as opposed to most natural oil and wax based creams which tend to often leave you with very oily hands. It soaks in quite well and provides ample moisture for my needs. I have not found it to break me out or irritate my highly sensitive skin that is often intolerant to fragrance.
Really, I have no complaints about this product. Only that I keep using it up and having to rebuy!

I got this as a points gift from Sephora. I LOVE the smell. This product does not leave my skin greasy or sticky. I'd say it's about a 6 (out of 10) on the moisturizing scale. So, that's fine but probably not good enough to spend the price to actually buy it despite the amazing smell.

The scent is not that bad but it smells like suntan lotion. My problem is that it is not that moisturizing. I use it as a handcream. My hands initially feel good but the moisture seems to "wear off" quite quickly. I have only used it in the winter months when my skin becomes as dry as the desert. I will update for Spring and Summer where it may be sufficient.

I received a deluxe sample from Sephora. This review's based on that sample.

Two words: Hawaiian Tropics.

The quality of this body butter is fantastic, but it smells like Hawaiian Tropics tanning oil -- the kind we used to get when I was 16 and had an untrained sniffer.

The smell dissipates, and I would consider getting this in the plane vanilla fragrance. But this coconut one is to my nose gawd awful.

Because the fragrance doesn't last long, the plain-vanilla might be a nice base for vanilla or gourmand fragrances, but this coconut version is a bit much for me.

Great moisturizing benefits, sinks in well, and a little goes a long way.

I just don't like smelling like Hawaiian Tropics.

Ok.. so I LOVE the texture of this. It is hands down the best body lotion/butter ive ever used.
My skin is not too terribly dry, so the non greasy, but thick texture of this is perfect for me. I can seriously put this on and rub it in only once, and it absorbs right up leaving my skin feeling fantastic. go greasy slip, just amazing moisturized skin.
However, i really dont like the vanilla coconut smell. Honestly it smells nothing like the name implies. Maybe a little bit like vanilla extract mixed with something. but this is not a sweet smell at all (or at least to me and on me).
It doesnt linger so it is bearable enough for me to use up what i have. When i run out (which will be soon) I will be getting the pure vanilla or the vanilla grapefruit. Now those smell yummy.

Oh and by the way, this is not a 100% natural. If you want something 100% natural go for 100% pure products, a line which you can get at Ulta ( however their formulation is more oily to me)

I wish this smelled as good on me as it does on some others, because it's a really fantastic lotion! So rich and smooth, it absorbs within seconds, leaving no greasy residue. I won't buy it because it smells like cheap, artificial suntan lotion on me, but I do recommend trying it for yourself, since I realize how much personal body chemistry can affect fragrance. I may give the other scents a try.

I love the scent myself but smell is subjective so do try heading out to an Sephora to actually smell the scents. I do notice it smells differently on me than on others, on me it's more warmer with the vanilla. On other people, they smell more of the fresh coconut. That's due to body chemistry, just like perfumes vary on people. Besides the scent, it works well as a lotion, moisturizing and nice to know all those extra goodies are going on my skin.

Oh, ugh! I like the LaVanila in the vanilla and the grapefruit scents and thought I'd try this one because I like the smell of coconut. The formulation is awful: plasticky, cloying, even offensive. I couldn't even use it on my feet - they weren't far enough away from my nose.

Had to toss and won't re-purchase.

I purchased this because I am in love with coconut scented things. However, this does not smell anything like coconut or vanilla. In fact, every time I wear it out, some one says they smell sunscreen. Not good. It smells like elementary school paste to me. :(

i own the entire lavanila coconut vanilla set and i LOVE it, this is my all time favorite scent.. and my signature scent. this body butter is awesome. it smells divine and it moisturizes really well. i love that it contains really great, natural, and healthy ingredients and i feel like it is really getting absorbed into my skin instead of just sitting on top. this is my second tube of it... and i will continue to repurchase it!

I really love this product. The smell is absolutely wonderful, it is definitely the perfect blend of vanilla and coconut (I'm not really great at fragrance descriptions so if you need more details there are some reviews below that do it much better than I can!) Sometimes, coconut can be too strong and tanning lotion-like, but not this. It smells just as luxurious and expensive as it is. Because let's face it, even though it is a thicker body butter product, so you need less, $25 for 8 oz is pretty pricey. I don't use it everyday but I do wear it once or twice a week. To me it is fragrant enough on it's own without the spray. It is also great since it sinks in quickly and is very moisturizing. Overall, it's a great scent that is not overpowering and sickeningly sweet, can be used on it's own, and is well worth the price tag. It also makes me want to try other Lavanila products, which I'm sure is a goal of the company!

Smells absolutely scrumptious! A combination of creamy vanilla, sweet coconut, a hint of almond, and just a touch of floral notes (the monoi tiare, I suppose). The body butter itself is moisturizing, sinks in quickly, and feels great. The scent lingers all day too and layers with the perfume beautifully!
Though this is delicious and not too dreadfully expensive ($25 for 8 oz), a dead ringer for this fragrance is the Sephora coconut cream line, specificaly the body butter, which is thicker and more highly scented ($16 for 6.7 oz). Overall, I love this Lavanila blend and would/will repurchase when it runs out.

The formula for this body butter is amazing. It moisturizes like a dream and sinks right in to the skin. I used it after a nasty sunburn left me peeling and dry, and my skin seemed to recover super fast. I was a little disapointed by the scent at first. It seemed kind of sharp on first application, and there was a note in it that sort of bugged me. Maybe the tiare flower? I wish it was just vanilla and coconut, however, its really grown on me. It lingers on the skin for a very long time, and people seem to really notice it (in a good way). The girls in my office are always stealing this from my desk, and a guy at my gym told me I smelled delicious. I guess its a keeper. : )

I was so excited about trying this. Coconut and madagascar vanilla with a touch of tiare flower....I was hoping that this will make a perfect summer moisturizer. Alas, I was wrong. The quality of this is fabulous, as other reviewers have mentioned below. It melts into your skin nearly on contact and leaves it soft and smooth for hours. The ingredients are also to die for. The problem was the scent. For some reason, the tiare note was totally dominating on my skin. I was hoping for it to die down eventually, but no such luck. I could smell it hours later and its combo with the coconut and vanilla was making me nauseous. The scent remained sharp, yet sickly sweet and simply unpleasant. I returned it to Sephora couple days after buying it :(

This is the most heavenly smelling vanilla coconut lotion ever! I like this far better than Bath and Body Works versions, it's far more understated and not artificial smelling at all. Not greasy and very moisturizing. Scent stays too. Love it!! Will repurchase!

I have also reviewed the fragrance for this scent...I can't describe adequately how much I love this scent. It's absolutely perfect as far as I'm concerned. The sandalwood isn't very present on me at all - which is perfect because i could do without it - and the tiare flower is nice and subtle but definitely present to complete the tropical perfection (I love love love tiare flower)! I liked the description someone else used that it "speaks vanilla with a coconut accent". The body butter is very rich and sinks in beautifully with no greasy grossness. The smell lingers all day mmmm. I use it in the mornings and noticed today when I got home from work after having washed my hands several times throughout the day that I could still faintly detect the smell. I've used a lot of lotions and butters and this stuff is pure quality. Absolutely lerrrve it. I will buy any product they can come up with in this fabulous scent.

UPDATE 7/5/08:: So I'm still obsessed with this stuff. I recently cut my hand pretty badly on a broken wine glass as I was washing it and the cuts were pretty deep. After they had a day to heal, I resumed using this butter on my hands...Can I just tell you that less than a week later, these nasty cuts are pretty much GONE! I had also recently cut my same hand at work rather deeply and that one I thought for sure would scar....well it didn't, and I'm pretty sure it's because of all the fabulous ingredients in this. I should also mention that it has totally healed my "chicken skin" spot on my bicep. Don't let anyone tell you that stuff isn't able to eliminated! Just use this on it!! I know it's this too, because I've gone for a couple of days here or there using something else (like when I go away or something), and I can feel it start to come back.

I got my hopes up that this would finally be the coconut scented product that didn't smell artificial but I was wrong! The formula is wonderful and perfect for my dry and sensitive skin, but the scent was awful and very fake. Eeewww!

I purchased Lavanila Coconut Healthy Body Butter after sampling it at Sephora. This butter body as stated before moisturizes well, without a greasy residue. The coconut scent acts a fragrance in it's own right and has great staying power. The graphics on tube are simply elegant.
All this said,I wore this a few weeks ago on a visit to see my Dad.His Tibetian Terrier was overly happy to see me.We took notice.Later we went to a local restaurant and the wait person kept asking what was the incredible smell? A wonderful baked cookie smell!! A lover of L'occitane Vanille, she needed to know where she could by my coconut body butter?
We then realized why Lotus the Tebetian Terrier was so happy to see me..........COOKIES.
So I ask what more could you want then to smell wonderful and make a PUP happy too? ; )

Geez this smells good! I only have this product because Sephora dot com's mix up. To make a long story shorter, they posted the fragrance for the price of the body butter and vice versa, when they realized their mistake instead of just giving people what they purchased, or sending an email acknowledging it, we didn't find out until our orders arrived, good customer service huh? lol

I digress, so I was asked to send this back and would receive the perfume in the mail, well the perfume arrived, and it looked too perfect to open (Did I want to keep it? Was I going to sell it? I didn't know) so I sniffed the body butter instead, and the smell is incredible.
To be honest now I'd rather have the body butter lol, though I know the perfume is more valuable.
It smells like buttery vanilla and sweet coconut, foody imo but not necessarily over the top foody like a cupcake scented perfume, do you know what I mean?
Also points added for this being in a tube instead of a jar, and there being so much of it, and lastly because it's a "healthy" body butter.
