I love this soap. I think that I've been using it for 2 years now. It has taken me a long time to find a cleanser thats right for my sensitive, breakout prone skin. Especially after having a baby, my skin became even more difficult. This soap prevents breakouts, rinses clean and it doesnt dry out my skin. If I am feeling dry in the winter I just use a bit of moisturizer at night time and thats all it takes. I dont have a lot to say because this soap is just simply awesome. HG.

The only cleanser I can use that not only doesn't break me out, it helps my skin. I can't use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid so sulfur is my friend.

I get hormonal cysts and pimples during PMS, but this cheap workhorse really seems to work! It's not the most cosmetically elegant formulation: it's soap and it is drying. However, the sulfur packs a whallop. I'm sold on sulfur as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide. I hate BP as it's very irritating to my skin. I'm using salicylic acid pads (Stridex Red and Green) in combination and this month has been the most spotless in a long time! I will continue to look into less drying sulfur products. But I won't be devastated if I never find one: this is the best $5 I've spent in a while!

HG facial soap. Enough said. I love this stuff and my face is completely clear after months of drugstore brands and prescriptions.

I use Derma-Klear sulfur soap (5% sulfur) because that is what's available at my local grocery store--I'm sure that Grandpa's works just as well and it doesn't change my question:

"SULFUR! Where have you been all my life??"

For the first time in over 10 years, I am without a pimple. I used to get a new pimple every day, but now it's all gone. Oh my gosh, I had just about given up. I don't know why sulfur isn't touted more as an acne treatment. I still have a massive amount of acne scarring, but now - finally! - my skin has a chance to heal. Holy grail, holy grail, holy grail.

My new HG makeup remover! I use this soap before washing with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. It removes everything quickly and easily and has helped to clear up some of the remaining acne I had from a bad reaction to a sunscreen a few months ago. I stopped trying to use conventional makeup removers because of the cost and my sensitive skin. Sulfur is the active ingredient and in addition to clearing acne it also helps to shrink pores. You can use this soap as a face mask/spot treatment as well as a cleanser. Lather your skin (don’t scrub), leave the soapy lather on your skin for one minute, and then carefully remove it with a tissue or towel instead of rinsing. I LOVE the packaging. It has a very interesting Vintage feel to it. I wish I could buy this brand in a store, but it's only available online. I bought it for $3.56 .

Overall, this soap is a great product - especially for the price. It’s definitely worth a try if you have stubborn or persistent acne.

I Liked Grandpas but My Dermatologists recommended Sulfur Soap 10% FDA Approved for acne and dermatitis. I used this soap that smells great ! for the best results be sure to use warm water and work the Joesoef Skin Care Sulfur Soap 10% into a rich lather. Be sure to allow at least 60 seconds before rinsing, this allow the Sulfur Soap to penetrate deep into the pores for deep cleanse. Joesoef Skin Care Sulfur Soap 10% has Salicylic Acid that works to remove dead skin cells and unclog Pores. This make a HUGE difference in the Sulfur Soap 10% as compared to Grandpas Soaps.

I use the soap 2 to 3 times daily and saw amazing results for my Acne and Dermatitis. This soap has been used by dermatologists for over 50 years. highly recommend it you have ACNE or DERMATITIS. I hope this helps. its available online or ask you dermatologists...5 STRAS *****

HG :)
Some background:
I have had acne since I was 10, I am 19 now and at first it was isolated at my forhead. I tried proactive at 12 and it cleared my acne until I was 15 when it came back with a vengence. I then turned to the Clean and Clear acne system which helped for a few months but then failed me again. I went to a dermotologist and tried everything from benzaclin, epiduo, differin, antibiotics, a plethora of different cleansers and masks and odd home remedies., clarisonic, etc. By Oct, 2011 my acne was so bad that it made me cry in the mornings and dread leaving the house. I had cysts all over my cheeks and jawline and postules all over my forehead...big red inflammed pimples on my fair skin it looked awful. Even with makeup on people would still comment on my acne, ask me things like
"What happened to your face?!"
"Why dont you wash your face?"
(and all the other dumb comments people make)
Salycilic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide failed me...so I started looking into sulfur products. I was searching it on google when I came across this product in January. I went ahead and ordered it and a week later I am 90% clear besides those pesky scars the cysts left behind. This thing is a miracle in a box and a steal for barely 4 dollars!!

Everyone suffering from acne needs to try this soap!

UPDATE: so this stopped working and I started breaking out again a few months later. It was great while it lasted

Very happy with this product. My skin generally likes sulfur soap and products to keep acne at bay. This is fragranced to mask the sulfur smell but not too heavily and it has not irritated my skin. So far I have noticed the most improvement on my jawline.

This product really helps to reduce my pimples. Although I still have pimples occasionally normally during my periods, it definitely has helped me to tame my pimples. At first it is quite drying but later on it is okay. Further more this is a natural product so it will do no harm to your skin.

It is so cheap and yet worked. I bought it from iHerb.com and I get a $5 discount by entering this code DEX423. iHerb sell it at $4.29 so I got it for free!! But the discount is only for your first iHerb order.

I must say I was surprised at how well this product worked for me and at such a low price! (Around 3.99) My forehead and chin generally stay quite oily but my cheeks dry out easily. This soap took care of the oily parts and pimples quickly but left my cheeks slightly dry. Nothing a light moisturizer couldn't fix. Highly recomended and the price can't be beat!

The word 'love' isn't enough to describe my feelings about this product. I suffer from cystic acne and was using prescription-based products for a nearly a year. The products did a great job of maintaining my acne but it was costly to keep up with my regimen.

After reading great reviews on this website and iherb, I purchased it for only 4 bucks. I've now been using it for a month and I have to say that my skin looks fantastic and I'm not using much more than this soap in the morning and a glycolic face wash in the evenings.

I get a few cystic pimples here and there, but nothing like I used to. For me, this is a must-keep product. You can use code KOP962 on iherb.com to get a discount on your first purchase.

Normally I don't review a product after only 4 days of use, but I must say that this soap has reduced all the problem areas on my face. I used as directed, lather and apply for face and let sit for a minute and rinse off. I try not to irritate my skin with rubbing to hard or using a wash cloth. I wait 5-10 minutes and apply moisturizer like Nivea aqua sensation. I am seeing a huge difference on the clogged pores I had on my nose and around it and the acne I had on my chin which was little bumps and some zits under my skin. It's not getting worse before it gets better (like some products claim will happen) which I love because I have been dealing with these skin issues all Fall... I will have to update after another 2 weeks to see if it continues to get better!

*update* more like 3 weeks
Later... So my skin has not gotten much better and it's gotten a little worse around the chin I have the little pimples on it still. I will use up the bar and exfoliate twice a week in that area. I ran out of nivea and use Vichy mineral baume after using. It could be what's caused the breakout but I'll keep using this combo hopefully it gets better!
This is my second update - I stopped using it towards the end of the bar. It wasn't making my skin better and I has been using it for 2 months.

This stuff is great! The sulfur smell is not that noticeable and goes away once you dry off your face. I use a moisturizer after to avoid dryness. It's pretty cheap for the size of the bar and a little goes a long way. Great for those with hormonal acne.

Like a lot of people, I get monthly, pre-menstrual and stress break outs. For years, I used 2% salicylic toners to control them, and with good results. Unfortunately, my skin suddenly decided it hated salicylic acid and any product with that ingredient not only did nothing to shrink my periodic zits, but made them worse!

After reading the reviews on MUA, I decided to give Grandpa's a shot before seeing a derm. It's been about three months now and I am very pleased with the results. This soap not only cleared up the acne I had, but I also have not had an issue with PMS zits since I started using this.

Pros
- It works...on pimples. I started to see a difference after about a week, but it took about 4-6 weeks to see a dramatic change.
- Cheap! If you buy this and it doesn't work for you, you won't be out more than $5.00 US.

Cons
- It stinks. Ever gone hiking on a volcano? Then, the smell of this soap will take you back.
- The copy on the packaging claims that this soap "dissolves" blackheads but I didn't notice any difference.
- A little drying, but nothing some moisturizer won't help.

I recommend this to anyone with persistent or cystic acne. If you have tried everything else like I have it can't hurt. Give it a month. I don't get break outs nearly as often nor do they last as long. Smell isn't good but it fades

My skin responds quite well to sulfur. Other treaments (BHA, BP etc) irritate my skin causing either discomfort or worse breakouts. I originally tried the Joesoefs sulfur soap based on board recs. I prefer this one. I massage my face with jojoba oil to remove my makeup, following with washcloth. I then apply another layer of jojoba and then suds up this bar and rub gently into my face until creamy. I usually let it sit on my skin for a few seconds before rinsing. My clogs are really starting to break up and surface.
Update 12/11- I use a sulfur night treatment from GOW instead of just cleansing which I find is much more effective being in contact with the skin longer to do its job.

I have used this soap for about a week and so far I am really pleased. The smell is not overwhelming, and it rinses nice and clean. I have battled hormonal acne since stopping birth control. It is really hard because I have always had nice skin, so I continue to keep trying new things. My skin also has very uneven tone with past-fading acne scars. After a few days of this and Visual Changes sal gel, my skin has improved a lot. I have small whiteheads, several larger pimples and persistent clogging and blackheads. All have been reduced, not completely cleared yet, but definitely a huge improvement. The two products have dried out my skin so I am having to moisturize. I think this product is worth a try for those who are not achieving the results they want from bp and sa products, it is also very inexpensive. Will update with further use.

I do find this a tad drying, but I just make sure to follow with a heavy moisturizer at night. So far, my skin has been clearing. For reference, I have sensitive and oily skin that is prone to congestion and large pores. This clears my skin and makes it look healthy, though it makes me a little more flushed than I would like. I stopped using it directly on my face and instead lather the soap in my hands and then apply it to counteract too much ruddiness. It rinses off clean, not filmy and I actually don't detect any hard-boiled egg smell. I love sulfur-based products and this is pretty good in doing what it is supposed to do. I usually try to stay away from bar soaps, but I figure if something works then why not. I purchased this at my local health store for around five bucks. Edit: Way too drying to use long term. Will reserve this when my skin really needs it.
