A nice, heavy conditioning treatment that worked well on my thick, coarse Asian hair, which is slightly dry due to highlighting. I left this on for a couple of hours and rinsed it out without shampooing as the instructions indicate. My hair is slightly weighed down, but I'm willing to accept that for the great moisture I've gotten. I think this is only a once a week or less treatment as it might be too heavy for more frequent use.

I made a stupid decision to go from dark brown to dark blonde. My hair felt like straw, plus the color made me even ruddier looking so I needed to dye it again. It looked like what I really needed was a protein treatment so I bought this along with some dark semi-permanent dye. I chopped off the ends, put on the mayo, left it in for 20 minutes, then without washing it out applied the dye. Then I rinsed, shampooed, and deep conditioned. The result? Glossy thick hair that barely feels damaged anymore. AND the color took evenly to my whole head, rather than dying the damaged parts differently. Brilliant! My hair stopped feeling like straw (brittle, lacking in shine, frizzy) and started looking like actual hair again. Ah-mazing. This is my first protein treatment product, but I am sure it won't be my last. It's also a great price and it smells nice. A+

This stuff is heaven for my hair, seriously! I have used so many expensive brand name deep conditioning treatments and they've done nothing for my hair. But this product I bought at Walmart for ten dollars, comes in a huge jug, is amazing, and works magic. The smell isn't very pleasant but the repair it does to your hair is worth it.

This product worked really great on my hair until I overdid it and got myself protein overload. Oops. Though I don't blame the product at all. I blame myself for not using it as per instruction and keeping it in overnight. The consistency is great, it spreads easily and rinses out well. It wasn't a miracle product though. And the first time I used it it didn't exceed my expectations but it did great.

I bought a few sample size/few use packets at Sally's and a few full sized of a lot of products and I'm going to use them all at least twice before making a final decision, but I'm going to start now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The products were: Proclaim Argan Oil Intense Hydrating Masque, Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment, Ion Effective Care Treatment, One 'n Only Brazilian Tech Keratin Deep Penetrating Conditioning Treatment, Silk Elements MegaSilk Moisturizing Treatment, Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Treatment, Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol Conditioning Treatment, Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This one just didn't do it for me. I used a whole tub of Africa's Best Hair Mayonnaise, and while that one had quite the smell, I liked it decently. This one is maybe a little less strong of a smell but the same type. I've heard reviews that some girls need to shampoo *after* treatment which I have never done, so it *could* be better if I try that, but the AB was fine just as a leave-on-for-a-while-and-rinse-out. The consistency is similar, it's not like it left my hair sticky, so I can't see myself needing to shampoo this one. I actually would also put it on before the beach or pool to sort of protect my hair. I suppose I could do that with this product, or give it away, because it just sort of has been sitting on a shelf for quite a while. I have better ones to use now so...eh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: I did try this again last night after shampooing, left it on for an hour or so and then RE-shampooed and conditioned. My hair feels really soft. Better than I remember. I don't know if using this as a pre-poo made the difference but it's nice and I'm going to update to a 4. Though there are better products out there, this went from 'ok' to 'good' and I like it WAY more than the Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol Conditioning Treatment which got rave reviews. This makes my hair MUCH less sticky and more silky. Pretty happy now, because I bought this ages ago and don't have a receipt, so glad I found a way to use it that works!
So I've tried different deep conditioners looking for the best one and I keep coming back to this one. The great thing about it is it's not expensive and it's a pretty big tub unlike a lot of other deep conditioners out there. I use it weekly since I use a lot of heat and it really repairs your hair and makes it feel strong. I love Organic Root Stimulator products, they all seem to work great and not just on me but everyone I introduce it to. Sometimes I mix Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner with it and it gives a little bit more moisture which is always a great thing since I have naturally curly 3b hair. After straightening your hair it leaves a weird feeling to the hair so I wouldn't use this before straightening. It's good for any texture hair but not if your planning on styling immediately after because the product is thick and leaves gummy feel behind.
I've been using this for 1 to 2 years now and this is fantastic. The tub packaging makes it easy to scoop out what I need, and its fairly cheap for such a large amount. Every other week or so, I usually put this on wet freshly shampooed hair and leave it on anytime from 10 minutes to 3 hours when I have more time, and my hair thanks me for it. I recommend!
I've bought so many of these jars and packets over the years! I usually love to switch it up and use different products, but I always have come back to this one. It's amazing for my tight curls that easily get very dry and tangled. I leave it in my hair for as long as possible, wrap my hair in a plastic cap, and then rinse when I'm ready. The longest I've left it in was overnight. It works so well to condition your hair, make it very soft, and detangle it. I have a lot of hair, so I use a lot of product at a time, but I find that the jar lasts around a month or more if you use it once a week.
I absolutely LOVE this product. I bleached my hair a few days ago when it was already dry and had dead ends. For a day or two, my hair felt so dry and coarse (not to mention the breakage) that it felt like I had dreads. So the other night, after shampooing my hair, I coated my hair with this product and slept with a shower cap on. In the morning, I rinsed it. Tonight, after shampooing and leaving on conditioner, I can tell my hair is so much stronger from all the protein! My hair that was in the wet cotton stage before was so much better- my breakage cut down by at least 80% ! My recommendation for Caucasian girls using this product- shampoo, coat your hair, sleep in it, and then SHAMPOO AGAIN and deep condition. Remember this is a hair "food" not a hair "drink" so conditioning is vital. Also, using it too much will make your hair greasy and/or hard because you CAN give your hair too much protein.
I've been using this for years now. I wouldn't say that it made my hair grow but it helped me retain length. I went from a Bob to hair just past my shoulders. I do get why some don't think that it is very moisterizing. I used it as a protein treatment. Between this and apohgee. And I follow it up with a deep conditioner always. I wouldn't expect this to work as a moisterizing product for my hair but it helps with the health of it. I don't experience so much breakage and I am retaining length. So I would purchase this again and again.
*Warning**-If you are going to straighten your hair after this using this product it will leave it lifeless, limp and with a gummy feeling..
I used this when I was flat ironing my naturally kinky curly hair and it was the worst. But, now that I'm wearing my hair curly it is the best. It springs my curls to life after I rinse it out with shampoo (V05 strawberries and cream). It is so soft and healthy. I use it every week (sometimes twice) and leave in for 15-1hr. Last night I put some in my hair before going to the gym (without a cap) and worked out for an 1hr. I got the same results..Worth the money and lasts forever!!
Loves it!! (3c/4a kinky hair).
I have severely damaged hair after using sun in, then dying my hair red, then medium blonde twice, then bleached it three times in a row to get the brassiness out ): So I have breakage everywhere and fried hair. Really fried. This stuff saved it! I cut it of course n with this n a good conditioner it will grow out healthy n shiny. A must for bleach blondes!!!! I tried everything. This is sum of the best stuff out there. U must use w a cap or heat n follow with conditioner n rinse well ((:
I'm always on and off with this product... but i tried it today and i absolutely love it, i knew there's a reason why i always come back to it. so I washed my hair with L'oreal Ever Strong shampoo and mixed one egg with a good amount of hair mayonnaise and my hair is amazingly moisturized and looks and feel extremely healthy.
Meh, I'm not really crazy about this. I found this hard to remove with my shampoo. I had to wash it three times to get rid of the icky feel this stuff left on my hair. It didn't make a visible difference in my hair either. I used it a couple of times to try and finish the jar but I just couldn't stand the icky feel so I threw it away. I'll just stick with my coconut oil - sooo much better.
It's not terrible, it just didn't work out for me.
I like this stuff too. I have curly hair that is currently highlighted. I have to keep it properly moisturized to have it looking it's best. I apply a light layer and let it penetrate for a couple of minutes before rinsing. My hair feels healthy and picks up some nice shine from this.
this is a fairly decent hard protein treatment. I am caucasian with very dry wavy dyed and heat styled hair that benefits greatly from using products geared toward ethnic hair types. I use this once every few weeks, shampoo first, then smother my hair in it and let it sit with a cap on for about 1/2 and hour, then rinse it out. I shampoo again very lightly and then use my deep conditioner concoction that consists of about 3/4 of a cup of bioinfusion olive oil deep conditioner, two tablespoons of africa's best hair oil and about a tablespoon of tresemme conditioner. let that sit for half and hour and I am left very very soft hair. The deep conditioning step is very important after doing a protein treatment, especially a fairly strong one. without it, the hair can be left brittle and the benefits of doing one can be lost.
