i swear by this cleanser, i use it every single day and i use it with my clarisonic, i've combination skin with oily t zone area and i love this stuff. cleanses my face really nicely, but i hate the smell, idk what it is about the smell but its not that bad to the extent where i feel like puking but i guess its bearable. i would definitely buy this again but the price was SGD 70 PLUS which is totally expensive but its dermalogica, so what can u expect, overall this is a great product for acne prone skin as my skin is extremely sensitive to certain foundations. if u haven't tried this, you haven't lived LOL. great cleanser, highly recommend, but my drugstore cleanser or cheaper alternative would be the body shop seaweed cleanser. :)

This cleanser turned out to be a perfect match for my skin despite the fact that my initial experience with it was less than stellar and i almost passed it on to someone else!
When i first used this I was really surprised that a Dermalogica product preformed so-so badly! It was a mess - not only did i feel it dried out my skin but the texture alone was a total turn off as well (goo is putting it mildly!). No matter how much i rinsed after each wash i could never get rid of the filmy residue left behind :-( I was disappointed to say the least and to make matters even worse i had purchased the JUMBO size so i thought i was stuck with yet another skincare "find" for the back of the bathroom cabinet (the black hole!).
Enter the Clarisonic Mia (amazing)! As i was experimenting with different cleansers that would work with my MIA i remembered the Clearing wash and decided to put it in rotation (for scientific purposes lol).
WOW!!! I was stunned! This time around the Clearing wash felt completely different - it foamed up lighly, rinsed easily and best of all my skin was calm and glowy after each wash :)
It might be that when i was using it with my fingers it wasnt able to emulsify or i could have been using too much? Who knows? And Who Cares? As long as it works i am not questioning it :)

This Product isnt "AMAZING" But I Have Acne Pron/Oily/Sensitive Skin. I think Its Pros Is that I Didnt recieve any Breakouts using this product, which for me is a first, However It didnt really fight the ones i was already dealing with as powerful as I thought it would, So i have to use additional products to help with getting rid of my minor acne. Another Con With this product is that my face dosnt feel squeaky clean after using it, so i usually have to wash my face twice with this product in order to feel satisfied that my face is actually "clean." Overall Id buy this product again but I Hope ill find something better.

Kind of pricey but lasts forever. And I would pay any price for something that works as well as this does. HG.

I'm 20 with pretty oily skin and a few pimples on occasion. I also have some acne scaring from my early teens.
Pros: It brightens up my skin.
Evens my skin tone.
Calms redness.
Get's rid of pimples quickly.
Helps with oily skin.
It has a nice lather, so you don't need to use much.
No artificial color or fragrances.
Cons: Expensive!
Hasn't helped with blackheads.
Hasn't helped with large pores.
I still get small occasional blemishes.
Overall I like it. The only big downfall for me is the price. The product didn't "blow my mind" or anything for $50.

On the whole, I do like this product. I have very oily, sensitive and sometimes acne-prone skin, so this product, with its Salicylic Acid content, is right up my alley. It busts existing blemishes within 12 to 24 hours, at most. My blemishes tend to appear a week before my time-of-the-month, when my hormones are high (darn luteal phase), and there's normally nothing I can to avoid breaking out during that period (pun intended); however, I found that this product miraculously kept the zits at bay.
Yes, it is drying and it is quite a harsh product. But I haven't noticed any of the dryness that other reviewers have described - perhaps my skin is just that extra oily! As well, I am hyper-vigilant about moisturizing my skin with products that restore the balance. I should also add that I only used this product once a daily, not morning and night, and preferred to have it in my nighttime routine, followed by a night cream. Again, this might explain why my skin did not react badly to it.
I am in the process of playing around with my skin care routine to determine what are the best products that work well together. If I don't add this to the lineup and repurchase, it won't be because I hate the product, but because I've found a better combination of products. I would recommend it to girls with very oily skin, and might perhaps suggest starting off by using it every other day to determine whether it's too stripping of your oils or if your skin can take it daily.

NC25 Chinese, oily skin but dry trying to remove mild acne prone post Accutane, early 30s.
I used this for about 2 years to cleanse makeup in the shower at night, combined w/ the powder exfoliant in the mornings... smells nice and cleansed the skin but no miracles. During facials, most of the time the estheticians would state my skin looked dry from the the overstripping of my skin. So moving on and looking at gentler options, since again, no miracles for my mild acne.

I have been using this line since I was 19. Now I am 33, I was using dermal clay cleanser. As time went by my skin has changed alot.So I wanted to try the medibac. Huge mistake. One night i used it to rinse off my daily makeup, and then my face was dry. So I returned it the next day. I think I will stick to the dermal clay cleanser.

I LOVE this cleanser! I've had acne since I was quite young (it started appearing on my forehead when I was maybe 11 or 12. I'm 19 now), along with very oily skin. This cleanser has just been great for my skin. I've used so many other acne lines, from Clinique to Proaciv to Neutrogena, but this is the only one that has kept me consistently clear. It lathers nicely, smells good, and I'm so happy it's not loaded with a ton of chemicals. I feel that the natural ingrediants in the cleanser are what have kept my skin so nice. The actual cleanser is a nice consistency too. I've used some other gel cleansers that are so diffucult to get off because they're so thick, but this one comes off with ease, especially if you use Dermalogica's sponge cloth. It is really expensive, however the results are worth it, plus Dermalogica products last so long. A full size bottle of this normally lasts me about 6 months, if not more. I will be buying this again, and woulf recommend it to anyone with acne!

I have cystic hormonal acne that really flares up if my diet is anything shy of practically perfect (which is quite often) so I'm often trying out new products for some improvement. The main ingredient in this face wash is salicylic acid which is fine, however, I found it to be pretty harsh when used daily. It really dried my skin out & following up with my hydrating booster of primarily hyaluronic acid was more noticeable due to the dryness caused by this product. IMO, it did nothing to improve my acne & generally just dried out my skin so looks like I'll be sticking with Clearasil's Ultra Daily Face Wash for now.

I'm on my 3rd bottle! I'm not sure if it works by itself on my acne issues, but I know it helped maintain it.
True it also has the same % of salicylic acid like other drugstore brands, but this one doesn't dry out my skin.
I need to switch to a gentler cleanser though, but will definitely buy again when my skin gets better :)

Had high hopes for this cleanser...not so much. I suffer from hormonal breakouts and have tried most everything to help the condition. This product broke me out terribly and gave me cystic acne along my jaw and chin within just a few days of use. Of course I bought the largest bottle of this thinking it would be a miracle. If you are wanting to try any of Dermalogica's products, do yourself a favor and try the sample sizes FIRST.

Felt compelled to write a review for this product. If I can help at least one person go spot free then cool. Oiler skin type and grew up with acne, had to use medication for it as a teenager, blah blah. Anyway, post teenage years definitely still had the occasional breakout but nothing dramatic...until I got into my 30's - and went off the pill. Skin went crazy (coupled with onset of wrinkles - didn’t seem fair!). Anyway tried several products and spent a lot in the process, got a sample of the Skin Clearing Wash though and honestly noticed a difference overnight. This product has seriously been amazing for me, I now only VERY occasionally get a spot - hence hands down for me - 5 stars for what it says it will do. BUT - it is not for everyone. If you have sensitive to normal skin I would potentially not even go near this product. I have recommended to friends and it has given them terrible rashes etc. So, please, it has worked on clearing up my skin...and I am not bullshitting...I had bad skin...but please try a sample before you use as I feel this product is only for people with more 'robust', 'thicker' skin. Even for me, I am getting more concerned about wrinkles now and as this product is pretty heavy duty, I don’t think it is doing me any favours in this department. So, on the look out for a new 'gentler' cleanser but let me just say that I will make sure I have a supply of this close at hand if the nasty bumps decide to rear their ugly heads again.... (note was not impressed with any other products in this line, only the cleanser helped).

I hate this cleanser. I didn't have acne as a teenager and when I hit my 20's I started breaking out. The claims this product had seemed to suit my needs (exfoliate, soothe and treat) and because I have heard such amazing things about Dermalogica I gave it a try. I haven't had dry skin in my life, but after using this it changed my combination skin (normal/oily skin) into a sensitive flaky patchy mess. HATE this product! Extremely drying, does nothing to treat current or prevent future breakouts. Waste of money.

Hands down the absolute worst facial cleanser I have used. I never knew what it felt like to have parched, flaky, irritated skin until I used this product (my skin is oily and a bit sensitive). I used this about three times in as many days and it took weeks for my skin to heal. This product is marketed as an acne cleanser but has way too many extracts in it that have no benefit for acne (or skin in general for that matter), and is ridiculously overpriced.

I'm on my third bottle of this stuff. It is probably the best skin cleanser I have used. I have combination, very fair, sensitive, acne-prone skin and this has drastically reduced the number of breakouts I have.
However, acne-prone peeps need to resist the temptation to let this stuff sit on your skin. It's a gel--it's meant to dry your skin out--and it WILL if you leave it on for too long.
I use this with the Daily Microfoliant (which I don't use daily), as gel cleansers don't really exfoliate.
I recommend that you buy this stuff on Amazon--it's going to be like half the price of any other web site.

This product is amazing at drying out pimples or any blemishes. It smells fresh and it has a really nice cooling effect to it. The packaging is very nice and simple and I love how the larger size has a pump. You only need a very small amount so the larger bottle size will last you a very long time. Cons of this product would be it is extremely drying to the skin especially if you miss a spot when rinsing it off (i experienced this around my nose and mouth). When I first started using it, i experienced an itchy sort of red rash on my neck and jaw and around the front of my ears. After I started to regularly use it, the rash went away and my skin hasn't reacted again. I would probably buy this product again but I would only use it for a small amount of time to get rid of blemishes because it is VERY drying to the skin.

I have been using this product for about 2wks now and im finding my skin is breaking out but hoping that its just bringing impurities to the surface as i used to use it a couple of yrs ago and it was great but went to something else as i found it wasnt taking care of black and white heads. but anyway ive come back to it because nothing works for me and i know that the formulas changed now. i love the smell, not artificial and does not harshly dry out my skin, leaves it feeling very clean.

I came to use this product after having adult onset acne as a result of cancer treatment - I had chemo and tablets that removed all the oestrogen out of my system and this had a crazy impact on my skin!!!
Although I did have acne before using the product this was nothing compared to what it was like AFTER using it. Recommended by my beauty therapist I tried it with high hopes but found that my whole face became inflamed, sore and red with a multitude of spots that were hard, deep and extremely persistent, lasting for up to six months at times. The spots left scarring that (two years later) I am just getting rid of with a dermal roller! In the end I have to have anti-biotics, a prescription cream and hydro cortisone cream to clear my skin, which had become terribly out of balance. It took me six long months to regain the balance with my confidence at an all time low.
Here is something that just may interest other people who find themselves with adult acne, perhaps due to similar circumstances to myself...?
The one thing that really really worked for me...?
Well, in the end I had to stop using a prescription cream called ADAPALENE (dreadful stuff) and through research at www.acne.org I tried PANOXYL. It was my saviour and although I used Dermalogica moisturizers and Essential Cleansing Solution alongisde it I stuck with the regime described on the above web site. Now I don't have to use the Panoxyl (which incidentally is really cheap as well as effective) unless I get a spot - a rare occurence - and just stick to gentle cleansing with good moisturizing and dermal rolling (fantastic for getting rid of the scarring!)
Now I have glowing clear skin that looks so very different to what it did 2 years ago!!!!!
I really hope this helps someone else...

I absolutely love this product. I had hit the mid 20s acne breakouts, and was horrified. I tried Dermalogica's Clearing Skin Wash, and within a few days, my skin cleared! Didn't dry out my skin, feels great. Although, my skin is SUPER oily, and I do get the early afternoon shine. Still haven't found something to keep the shine completely away. I have recently tried new products to help with my oiliness and my breakouts started again. So I went back to this, and clear again! This wash definitely helps with my breakouts. It is on the pricier side but you really only need a pea sized amount to get the job down. I bought the large bottle and it has lasted me sooooo long. So long that the product is about to expire (the medicated stuff expires).
