A wonderful product! This makes my hair flyaway free when blowdrying. It's on the pricey side, but I still have not found anything I like more than Aveda hair products. Smells great!

My hair: fine (but lots of it), color treated, wavy, with frizzy ends.

I blow dry my hair straight, but prior to using this product, my hair would be frizzy looking, not sleek. Now, when I use this in my hair, after blowing my hair dry it is much more sleek. I use this in conjunction with a few pumps of Phomollient (which I have been using for somewhere around 8 years) and the two make a great combination. I also use Light Elements Smoothing Fluid as a finisher to further "sleeken" my hair, especially on the ends. I don't know how, but the style prep smoother definitely does what it says!

This product pretty much does what it says - it smooths and preps your hair for styling. Don't expect any miracles, it's not going to change anything until you've actually styled the hair, then you'll be able to see a shine and softer texture. Putting too much of this, however, like any product, can cause buildup and make the hair limp and lifeless, so i'd avoid putting more than one pump of this product through the ends, and maybe a little at the top (a LITTLE) to eliminate frizz in that area.

I've been using this for a short time and find that it makes the ends of my hair less frizzy and generally healthier looking. I have long hair past my shoulders but the last couple of inches are quite damaged. I put one pump of this on the last two inches of damp hair and blow dry, then add a bit more after it has dried. The result is healthy looking ends. Not sure I would use this all over my hair; I'm leery of any product that will weight my hair or make it attract dirt or oil which in my experience is just about everything. I find this product expensive as all Aveda is and I don't like that the pump bottle has no cap on it. Not too great for travel. I have to wrap it in plastic wrap for that.

I have a love/hate relationship with Aveda. When their products work for me, they work phenomenally well. When they don't - well, they make things worse! This is one of the 'makes things worse' variety. I've tried using this several different ways, and it just doesn't do what I expected it to do. I have a ton of hair, but it is somewhat fine and wavy and tends to frizz. This does not help with the frizz at all, and it doesn't help give shape to the waves in my hair. So for the price, pretty much useless to me, although I can see it working for people with shorter hair. Wouldn't repurchase.

Two pumps of Aveda phomollient and one pump of this equals styling perfection everytime. My hair is fine, colored and chin length and it always comes out great with this combo: great body and no flyaways. Love the scent, too!

I have naturally wavy hair that I straighten 3-4 days a week for work. I sometimes stray from this product, but when I come back, I remember how much I love it.

I have also used this when scrunching my hair to decrease frizz in this lovely Ohio weather.

I find that the product is expensive, but mine has lasted me for over 18 months and I use two pumps per time for shoulder length hair.

I wish I could find this on sale somewhere but I don't think I ever will

Wish MUA had a "maybe" selection for the "would you buy this product again"? For me, the smell of Aveda products is addictive. I LOVE the smell, although it fades fairly quickly. I don't know if I like this product yet. I've been using it for a month and you have to be very carefully about the amount you use. Too much and your hair is a greasy mess with no body. Too little and you don't see any difference at all (at least I don't). I love the idea of using semi-natural products (Aveda prides itself on being natural, but I don't know about the ingredients on this product's long list). For the price, I'm not sure I'd use it again. I'm always so excited by the smell of Aveda's products but very ambivalent about how great they are for what they promise to do.

I received a sample of this product. It made my hair smooth, soft, and shiny, but it also eliminated all my hair's body and fullness! My hair was flat and limp. I had to shampoo to remove it. Definitely will not purchase!

Definitely a HG product for me! I have long hair that frizzes a lot and seems lifeless. This product really smoothes my hair and makes them all shiny and soft. I love the herbal scent that it has and have been complimented on it as well.
I use this two different ways, either as a prep for my damp hair before blow drying it, in which case it gives my hair a very polished look. Or, when I feel lazy, I put in my damp hair and let my hair air dry for the night. The next morning, my hair has a rich voluminous texture and is still frizz free and very easy to style.
Will definitely repurchase, even though the price is quite steep, and this will surely become a staple in my hair routine.

Welp, I guess I'm an Aveda convert. After living in dry, temperate Los Angeles for four years, I've moved back to the East Coast and am besieged by the flyaways, frizz, and general ickyness that just happen when you live in NYC. Add to that the fact that I have very porous hair that seems to soak up any and all available moisture in the air, and basically, the humidity back here is a recipe for disaster.

And then I found Aveda's Style Prep Smoother.

Guys, this stuff does not joke around. I had to shower at a friend's place when my water was out one day, and noticed she had some on her shelf. I was curious. I put a couple squirts into my (medium-long) hair and blew it out. No flyaways! No instant moisture poof! And, hallelujah praise Jesus, my hair stayed sleek and soft THE ENTIRE DAY.

At $25 per (small) bottle, it's on the pricey side, but it sure beats getting to work and looking like I've just run through a lightning storm. I'll buy it again for sure.

This is insanely good! Expensive, but for me, worth the cash.

I put a pea size amount in my freshly washed, damp hair. A little truly goes a long ways so u actually get a lot of bang for your buck.

Smells like most aveda products: very herbal/natural, I like it. Easily distributes throughout damp hair. I apply with fingers and then comb the through.

My hair feels fantastic! I tend to have problems with frizz and this helps internally. For example today was 110° with through the roof humidity. My hair held up great. Not greasy, not heavy at all.

Definatly will buy again.

Like Aveda products in general, I find the Style Prep Smoother to be expensive yet effective, and the pleasant smell is a bonus. Just a tiny pump applied to damp hair helps it blow-dry smoother and actually reduces drying time. In hot, humid weather, it makes my fine hair less frizzy and fly-away, while adding some needed body. It is a nice prep step before adding whatever other styling products you choose. Living in a northern state, I don't need this in winter, but it's great for summer -- just wish it were a tad cheaper!

I keep trying to like Aveda products....but in the end, I guess I just don't and need to stop trying. None of them seem to work for me, and this was no exception. It actually made my fine, straight hair perform worse than usual. It weighed it down and somehow made it frizzier. I tried using the smallest little drop of the stuff and still had terrible results. For the prices that Aveda charges for their products, they had better have the 'wow' factor. The only 'wow' factor this one had was 'wow, I can't believe how terrible this makes my hair look!!'

I have been using this product for several years now when I blow dry my wavy to curly hair straight. I rub a small amount in my palms, and apply it to the ends of my hair, combing it through to ensure even application. It helps give a straightened, smooth, shiny, full look, without looking weighed down and flat. In hot and humid weather, this product does not combat frizz and curl on its own. When the weather is humid, I blend the Style Prep Smoother with other products, such as Aveda's Brilliant Styling Creme or Light Elements Smoothing Fluid, or use another product instead.

Great product to user prior to any blow drying, flat ironing, or curling. Allows me to cut down dry time by about half, and my hair usually takes forever when blow drying. I like the feeling of my hair after dry, very silky and healthy. I don't like how expensive it is, but I think it's worth it. I use it in conjunction with the Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner.

My experience with this on my fine hair, which tends to get oilier at the roots and drier at the ends, was not good. Even though I only used a little and was careful to distribute it evenly, it weighed my hair down and made it look very flat and lifeless, yet the length of my hair looked DRIER than usual & had a frizziness that reminded me of how it gets in hot humid weather (it is 70 degrees out & dry). I really hated it but I am glad I had used a sample and did not spend $ on it.

I received the 3 sample combo and I am soooooooooo disappointed. I don't understand why Aveda gets so much hype, most of their products are overpriced and the only positive aspect is the heavenly smell. The only Aveda product I like is damage remedy treatment mask, but I rarely purchase it because I don't like to pay $26 for a small tube! (especially since there are many comparable products at fraction of this price).
Well, this combo dried my hair and made it straw-like, NOT smooth like it claims to be. I couldn't wait to wash it off my hair. Yes, I loved the smell, but I wouldn't want to use this stuff even if they paid me to use it!!

This stuff really works! I live in rainy Seattle and my hair looks fabulous all day long. It protects from heat styling which is an added bonus since I flat iron my hair. I also got the conditioner which is not needed. The style-prep does the job on its own. Well worth the money!

I received a free sample of Smooth Infusion Shampoo, COnditioner and Style-Prep Smoother. They work! My hais is fine, dry, color-treated and a bit wavy. These producst (especially if you use all of them together (the shampoo being the least important) keep the cuticle down. Smells great (herbal) like all Aveda products. For free? Great. Would I buy it? Absolutely. I plan to buy a full bottle once I finish some of my pther products.
