Review of Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation by izzybella

UPDATE 10/22/2010 - I recently picked up samples of this foundation again and it's currently my favorite! I'm still shade #40 and while it goes on a little thick, it eventually develops a slightly dewy finish that looks really natural. Coverage is decent and I'm definitely a fan. Before trying this foundation again, my HG was NARS Oil-Free, which unfortunately is discontinued.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Where I live it gets unbearably hot during certain months and as a result my combo skin gets a little overly dewy and shiny. So far this foundation has lived up to its matifying claims - however I do find that it dries quickly and is a bit hard to blend. Also, it has a tendency to highlight dryness, so be sure to moisturize prior to application. The finish is not nearly as natural as my HG Bare Minerals MMU, but I guess you can't have both a natural finish and matifying properties. I don't know if I am doing something wrong but the coverage of this is pretty sheer, so I have to layer it more than I'd like in order to disguise my blemishes. Overall a decent foundation but I don't think it gets HG status. For reference I am MAC NC30, 1.2/2.0 light in BE and wear shade #40 in Mat Velvet.
