The name of this pencil just makes me laugh. MAC describes this as a fowlishly soft brown grey which makes me think of a Cornish game hen and then I get hungry. But that is just my mind wandering which MAC does when it names a pencil after an animal.
The color of this pencil is soft muted brown. Depending on your skin tone, it can have a slight warm yet ashy undertone that leans towards a green/grey/yellow. To simplify, it does look like a dark ashy taupe. The only difference I find between this is and Stubborn Brown is the amount of grey or the tone. It can be used on eyes as dark as mine (espresso brown) and just as light as blue and it will work as an everyday color.
Surprisingly, I find this color to open up my eye area because it blends in with the surrounding eyeshadow on my lashline. While black and dark brown are nice to provide drama and to draw attention to my eyes, sometimes I like my eyes to look wide awake than sultry!
