The Fresh Approach: I have read the various reviews for this product, and was very surprised by the negative reviews. I adore this product - and think that some of the issues people are having with the product can actually be traced to a couple of reasons or misconceptions. The fact is - yes, this product has a lovely aroma. The oil misconception is interesting to me - as I don't seem to have that problem with the face polish. There is good oil (essential oils - which this product is chalk full of) - and bad (mineral oil for starters) - the oil in the face polish actually acts as both a binding agent for the scrub as well as a stimulator for the skin - helping to increase circulation, thereby nourishing the skin. Essential oils actually, are meant to be absorbed into the skin and do not clog the pores. After applying the scrub to moist skin, try splashing tepid water onto the face to remove most of the scrub, then use a wet washcloth to remove any extra bits. Pat dry - then gently massage any left over "Oil" into the skin. I think this should help ...
Sugar is both antibacterial as well as chalk full of - glycolic acid - both should help to draw out impurities in the skin - and yes, sometimes this does result in some break outs. But if used occasionally in addition to gently yet thoroughly cleansing the skin (and removing all traces of make-up) - this polish should produce very nice results.
I have had nothing but fabulous results and notice a wonderful new glow to my skin since using Fresh's Sugar Face Polish.
Perhaps you might try a routine that works well for me --
AM:
1) CLEANSE:
Clientele Soy Antioxidant Face Wash. Tepid water. Pat dry.(avoid the eye area!)
2) TONE:
Mario Badescu's Seaweed Toner
3) TREAT:
Clientele Lotus Face Firming Serum - about three pumps in the palm, rub hands together lightly and spread serum over face - massaging serum in til absorbed. OR
Clientele Anti-agin Activator Plus (fabulous)
4) Mario Badescu - Ceramide NMF with AHA or Mario Badescu Kera Moist Creme
5)SPF: (protect from photo aging)
Clientele Age Blocker - Spf 25.
PM:
1) CLEANSE-REMOVE MAKE-UP:
Cetaphil cleanser - tepid water - remove make-up and cleanser with wet washcloth. Splash.
2) EXFOLIATE: (3-4x/week)
Mario Badescu Kiwi or Strawberry Scrub, OR
Fresh Sugar Face Polish (applied to wet skin - as mentionned previously).Rinse thoroughly.
3)Mario Badescu Ceramide Creme
4) Clientele Firming Night Creme.
I have searched long & tirelessly for high quality products - and believe wholeheartedly in Clientele, Mario Badescu, and Fresh. They contain fabulous ingredients such as: sacred lotus seed, wild yam, alpha lipoic acid, soy, lactic acid, glycolic acid, glucosomine, and many other top notch well tested ingredients.
I hope this information is helpful and again - definitely dont give up on the face polish - I think, with proper use - it is truly fantastic! And besides - Tori Amos swears by it!
