Review of Urban Decay Glinda Palette by Mellymoomar
Originally I had never planned to buy this palette, purely because I had always had my heart set on Theodora, as the shades in that palette seemed more my thing. My instincts were right, I do prefer Theodora over this palette, however Glinda is still good and I don't regret buying it.
First of all, I like the packaging possibly a little more than Theodora's, I think its pretty and feminine and I just like it a little bit better. Onto the eyeshadows:
The shades in this palette are far more pastel than the ones included in Theodora, and normally this would not be my cup of tea at all but I actually found once I'd got them on they aren't so bad. 'Tornado' is my favourite shade of this palette, its a deep, rich purple with loads of pigmentation and compliments my skin tone, hair colour and eye colour really well. The next shade is what I like to call the highlight shades, it is 'Aura', which is a half n half shadow with one half being a iridescent pale blue (it doesn't go on really blue though, it looks far more cream coloured when actually applied) & the other half is an iridescent pink (again, not a bright pink when applied). Both make a really good brown bone/inner corner highlight and I really do like them. 'Magic' is one of the shades I least enjoy. It is like the perfect meeting between a dark pink and pale purple with a gold shimmer. It is very pastel, and I don't like pink shadows much because I think it makes me look like I have sore eyes, but thats just me. 'Illusion' is a peachy cream colour with a slight shimmer. It is another one of my favourite shades from this palette, it goes on really nicely and is super blendable and lovely. 'Oz' I find is quite a pointless shade to the palette, I don't think it brings much to the table, it is another gold identical to the one in Theodora (UD love their gold) & a silver. 'South' is like a taupe and a silver mixed together, but it looks far more silver when applied to the face compared to how it looks in the pan. A very nice shade though, and incredibly good for doing smokey looks.
Overall I think the shades in this palette lack imagination a little bit, whilst I love Tornado, Illusion & Aura I don't see myself using the other three much, plus they are quite similar in terms of colour.
The 24/7 pencil in this one is 'Rockstar' which is a very deep plum colour, it is really nice and compliments the shades in this palette well. Not much more to say on that one really!
The lip pencil in this palette is in the shade 'Glinda', I definitely prefer over Theodora's, I've always been a fan of the neutral lip and this is a very nude shade which I usually mix with a little bit of pink gloss just for a little pop of shimmer, but very nice alone too.
Overall, I have to say I wouldn't buy this palette again purely because I don't think you could use it everyday like I do with Theodora, like I wouldn't wear pink shadow to work or anything like that. But it is definitely a pallette worth buying because its good quality, and you can create pretty nice looks with it.
