REDWIN: Organics moisturiser in vanilla & kakadu plum: Lately I've been on a major health kick in terms of my skin care, and that meant that I was going through all of my current products and--shock horror--discovered that most of them had at least three or four bad preservatives, irritants, parabens, fragrances, etc. in them each. So, when on my usual run to at Coles I was surprised beyond belief to come across this product known as Organics moisturiser, part of the REDWIN brand. I've got the product in vanilla & kakadu plum, a smell that I am slowly getting used to. I brought this product for under $5, and its major selling point for me was the list of "nasties" it boasted about not using--key among them: no Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, no artificial fragrances, no mineral oil, no parabens, etc.
So, I've been using the product for a few days and it has both negatives and positives about it. First with the positives: this is a lotion, it's really cheap for those of us unwilling to buy expensive products, it's organic (certified), I got the 500ml bottle, its a pump bottle that's very easy to use, has a pump locking mechanism, glides across skin very easily, and gives a nice smooth feeling.
Secondly, the negatives: in spite of all its goodness I find the product to take a long time to absorb into the skin, using the pump makes it cleaner but very easy to have too much product, the smell slowly dissipates so I'd recommend getting it in the orange, or at least smelling the product to ensure it doesn't annoy you, when the product initially sinks in my face feels somewhat stiff and it takes about a minute for your skin and the product to adjust, and I find I have the same problem using the lotion on my body as well.
So, while this isn't the best product I've ever come across it is an extremely healthy product (going by what isn't in it), it's very cheap and I find that once its been on my skin for a few minutes my face feels really nice, so for those reasons I will buy this product again. However, I've read that everyone said this product in this scent smells like vanilla. It most certainly does not. Kakadu plum is something that I smell very strongly in this product, and for me it's definitely an acquired taste.
