I was extremely disappointed in this product. I used to use Oscar Blandi's dry shampoo; it worked fine, but I was pretty ambivalent about it due to the price. After reading great reviews for Klorane's dry shampoo (the non-aerosol pump version), I went to that and LOVED it, but the pump sucks. I've been through two bottles of the Klorane, loving the product but loathing the applicator (it works well at first but then gets stuck and always squirts way too much or hardly any at all), and when I went to buy a new one today, I thought I'd try Alterna's. It was $20 at my local beauty supply store for a 2.65 oz. bottle with a thin needle tip, which appeared to me to be infinitely better than Klorane's because it'd enable me to apply the dry shampoo as I prefer to do (squeezing some into my palms, rubbing them together, and running my hands through the parts of my hair that need help).
I tried it out when I got home and was hugely disappointed. True, the applicator is far better than Klorane's, and it didn't leave a visible residue or white cast on my hair (which is straight, fine, and currently dark blond), but the product is just not up to par. I started with using the amount I'd normally use of the Klorane, saw no difference, so I kept adding more gradually until I finally gave up. Even after using probably 15 times the amount of product I'd normally use with the Klorane (with great results), I still saw only a negligible difference in my hair. (For what it's worth, this test was about 24 hours after I last washed my hair, and my hair had no styling products in it; it looked slightly dirty, but not overly greasy at all.) With Klorane's dry shampoo, I can go an extra day between in-shower shampoos, but Alterna's doesn't even add an extra two hours for me. This is definitely going back to the store! *** UPDATE 10/1/10: Now I've tried Batiste's dry shampoo too, which I like much better (as much as Klorane's, and it's cheaper than Klorane's, so I'm sticking to it). So, if you already have and like the Batiste one, I wouldn't recommend experimenting with Alterna's; it doesn't even come CLOSE to working as well!
