DESCRIPTION OF ME: Caucasian PPP (Lancome Color ID I-10 C, Teinte Idole Ivoire 2 C) with normal skin. Previously, I had very oily, acne-prone skin before Accutane treatment.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A very sheer foundation designed for minimal coverage. To me, this would constitute as more of a tinted moisturizer, since the coverage is VERY minimal.
PACKAGE: Leak-proof container that stands upright on the lid. The opening to the bottle is very tiny, so no accidental spillage will occur while using this particular product. One container holds (only!) 1 fluid ounce.
CONSISTENCY/TEXTURE: Medium consistency, but applies very sheerly over the skin. Dries to a matte finish.
APPLICATION: Using a circular foundation sponge, I put a larger pea-sized amount on the sponge and blended it into my face evenly. However, one ďlarger pea-sized amountĒ ended up not being enough to do all of my face, so I had to use a bit more for my forehead. After getting the PC applied evenly, I used a concealer on trouble areas, following up with blush, bronzer, and pressed powder to seal the look.
SMELL: This has a very nice, light scent to it when first applied. Unfortunately, about thirty minutes or so after first putting it on, I detected a funky clay smell, but that also dissipated after awhile as well.
STAYING POWER: This is actually the first PC item Iíve ever tried, so I was pretty impressed that it seems to have some great staying power. Last weekend, it was in the 80s for the first time this year, and I refused to turn on the A/C yet, so I was sweating up a storm in my house when I was cleaning. Did this stuff budge? Nope! Now, the real test will be if it manages to stay put when I travel to Mississippi in the next few weeks! If it stands up to the humidity of the Deep South, then Iíll be blown away! Updates will follow! EDIT: After using this on and off for about two years, I will amend the statement that this stuff stays on super well. For some odd reason, this stuff tends to wear off kind of oddly at the corners of my mouth. Seriously, the last few times I've worn this, it's come off just around the mouth area. It may have something to do with my use of lip gloss, but I'm not sure.
NATURAL?: Yes! SO far, this is the best part of this. Obviously, the entire point of the Matte Tint is is to get some evening of the skin tone without sacrificing the natural look of bare skin. IMO, this seems to do that very well for me.
COLOR: The color (Sheer Fair) so far seems to be a good match for my PPP skin. The real test will be when I start my self-tanning again and if the Sheer Neutral will match just as well w/out looking extremely fake! EDIT: The darker tone of this foundation also works well and looks just as natural.
SUNSCREEN: SPF of 20, which is wonderful.
IRRITATION/BREAKOUTS: So far, so good. Iíve been using this for about a week now, and nothing major has arisen, so Iím happy. Obviously, if things change, Iíll be updating. EDIT: I haven't been using this every single day; I only wear it if I'm going to be out in the sun for a long time during the day or on fancier occasions. At any rate, I haven't had any issues with undue irritation or breakouts.
OVERALL: This is a great ďfoundation.Ē Iím so happy with it, because the look of actual foundation was getting to be too much for me, but I couldnít completely do away w/some kind of makeup, because Iím on topical retinoidsómake my face super red! Anyway, I also needed a sunscreen, but chemical blockers make my face itch and breakout. In this formula, there are only physical blockers, which my skin handles much better. So, why only a four? Well, first off, I havenít been using this long enough to see whether or not itíll break me out in the long run. I should know better in about a month! Secondly, the size of the container is just annoying. I mean, it is a sheer tint, so you should expect sheer coverage, but I had to use quite a bit just to get SOME tint to my face. At this rate, Iíll probably be buying another bottle of this stuff in a week or so, and I just got this bottle LAST week. Minus one Lippie for those infractions combined! EDIT: I'm taking off one more lippie for the weird wearing pattern that I've encountered through the years of using this foundation. Still, as far as foundations go, I'm keeping this one in my beauty regimen due to it being one of the few I've tried that looks the most natural and doesn't freak my skin out too much. Because I don't wear foundation on a day-to-day basis, this particular formula still gets the job done for me two years later.
