Review of TheBalm Time Balm by LPomona
Have to get out an enormous rave for this gem! I've been on an obsessive quest for the perfect concealer (who isn't?) for the past few weeks.
I already have purchased & swapped for all of the iconic concealers by:
BB, Cle de Peau, Becca in Banana, Chanel (Lift Lumiere Concealer), La Prairie Light Fantastic, MUFE Lift Concealer, & By Terry Touch Veloutee - to name but a few!
A few days ago I was in Sephora & there was this unpretentious (cheapo!) plastic jar on the TheBalm stand. I've never tried this brand because I find cutesy names (like Benefit stuff) to be painful. If I were 12, I'd probably think it was neat, but at my age, the (lame) attempts at humor in naming cosmetics is lost on me. I just assume that the stuff is junky, & only survives because of the cutesy factor. OK, so enough about my criticizing things I don't know about.
I tried this in Light/Medium and was blown away! For my NC20 coloring, this is like applying my perfect skin color over the darkness under my eyes. It has the perfect texture & you can pat it on w/a finger or a brush. It takes the tiniest speck & you're good to go. I can't believe how much dough I've spent on all of the HE brands because "the more you pay, the more it's worth..." But it's not always the best! Oy, oy, oy.
For what it's worth, this concealer is identical, as far as I can tell, to Cle de Peau's concealer. No joke! I have CdP in Ivory & Ocher & I layer them to get the right shade ...OR... I can use just one layer of Time Balm in Light/Medium! Same texture, consistancy & the shade is right on target.
I urge every one of you to try this concealer. Oh, and I finish it off with a light dusting of LMercier's Secret Brightening Powder. PERFECTION.
