Review of Jurlique Calendula Cream by wombat
$26AUD for 40ml in sydney. Comes in the classic jurlique metal squeeze tube ugly packaging.
Firstly, i have to complain about the packaging, it's like a toothpaste packaging, the 40ml size is quite good, i prefer my product fresh, and since i'm most likely to only use it on the face i'd prefer smaller size too. If it was a tad cheaper, i'd use it as a body cream! The tube tends to get stuff stuck in the cap and probably dry out there, i really hate having gunk on the caps..
the cream is a tinge yellower than kiehls creme de corp, a creamy soft-yellow anyway. Smells very much like honey or honeycomb, not as yummy but by no means unpleasant. Smell fades after 3 min on face. Consistency is a little bit thicker than kiehls creme de corp too.
I thought it'd be very shiny, but it wasn't, it sunk in nicely (very quickly too) and left my face soft and quite velvty matte (without dryness), and plumped a bit. I woke up this morning and my skin was quite soft, didn't have shine on face, and no breakout/reaction, and the flakiness around my mouth was gone (been suffering flakiness around mouth/nose for ages, whenever i put a thicker moisturiser on it ends up making me breakout, luckily this cream didn't do that).
To test it out, i also wore it under my ultraceuticals spf30 sunscreen in the day, it provided nice hydration, and my face wasn't too oily by mid-day, seemed all normal as well, with the bonus of moisturisation (i normally don't wear moisturiser during daytime cuz they make my face greasy).
I think i've found a nice, basic night cream for hydration.
p.s. i'm yet to see any "soothing" effect since i had one big hormonal zit, it didn't make it worse but didn't make the redness go away either.
