Review of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch by AndreaJunelle
This has been a miracle worker on my dark undereye circles! My circles are VERY dark and always have been..(genetics I assume?) So I am constantly trying every concealer I can get my hands on, drugstore and department store.
A couple years ago I fell in love with Maybelline's Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in the "Brightening" shade. It was the first drugstore undereye concealer that covered my dark circles on it's own, without layering/adding other products on top or underneath. My only minor issue with that is that it leans very pink, so I *can* get the reverse panda-eye look on my very fair, yellow undertoned skin (If I wore MAC I'd be right around NC15) -so my search continued..
I have this Dream Lumi pen in the "Ivory" shade which I paid right around $6-7 for. The price is literally a steal for such an awesome product! I was actually thinking of trying the L'oreal lumi pen (that came out right around the same time that this did) -but a g/f of mine said it didn't do a darn thing for her mild under eye circles, so I knew it wouldn't even touch mine, and I purchased this instead. It's become my HG undereye concealer! Just dab a few dots around my undereyes, blend, and done. I just can't believe how well this little thing covers!
And since the "Ivory" shade is such a great match (it's definately warmer undertoned) -I've even been able to use this as a highlighter. Just add a dab to my upper cheekbones, forehead, cupids bow, & it adds instant glow while covering any imperfections that I may have in those areas since it does such an awesome job at concealing :)
Now on to the terrible packaging... I love this product SO much I definately gave it 5 lippies. But the "Packaging Quality" I was only able to give a score of 1 lippie to.. I actually have two of the Dream Lumi's in the Ivory shade.. I noticed with my 1st one that the click pen was clicking out WAY too much product at a time, and after about 2 wks, it started leaking on days that I wasn't even using it, leaving a leaked mess all around the cap *ugh* So I went and purchased a 2nd one..I figured I didn't mind buying another since I wanted a back-up anyway due to the great quality. &Son of a gun if the 2nd one didn't start doing the same thing!! I was furious, the darn thing was always clicking out more product than I needed & leaking in my makeup bag! So I figured since I have two, I could try decanting one into another container and I was successful ;D I always like to have several sample jars on hand at all times so I cut off the brush bristles and "clicked" out all of the product into my tiny jar. I don't find this to be the *best* method for application because now I have to either dip my concealer brush or finger in my little jar (which I usually don't like doing with cosmetics) but I do have to say it's better than losing product. I'm hoping to find a teeny pump bottle I can decant my 2nd one into right now, & I'll update if I find something that works well for this :)
Even though packaging for this is a hassle, in my mind this is still worth purchasing & I will continue to repurchase as well as reccomend to others simply because the Dream Lumi pen works at concealing as well as highlighting, for only $6 USD and is so easily available at all U.S. drugstores. Way to go Maybelline! -Now please, don't discontinue this great item! :)
