Review of Unlisted Brand Sand (real, from a beach) by nellja
So! Don't know if sand (real, from a beach) is already up somewhere, but thought I'd toss in the best free exfoliator I can think of.
Caution: anyone who doesn't have skin like mine - oily, big pores, bit dull / slow turnover (wow I'm a catch) - should probably not try rubbing sand on her face. Especially if you have sensitive skin or active acne. I do tend to have acne, but had nothing happening at the time I tried this (having killed it, along with the top layer of skin probably, with Neutrogena).
Ok - went to a beach earlier this year, and used the sand to exfoliate my legs. Brought some back (for that, and as a memento of a lovely time).
Found my facial skin tired out and dull looking, and decided I ought to scrub. Remembered that the Body Shop used to actually sell sand for the face (not sure if they still do) at a relative premium. Then thought of how much dermabrasion costs.
So I chanced it, and wet my face, put roughly 1/2 a teaspoon of sand in my palm, added some face wash*, made a paste of it, and rubbed it (not very hard at all) around my face.
AMAZING result - smoother, softer skin, for peanuts. I moisturised afterwards. Did it again a day later, and my skin feels even better.
Wouldn't recommend doing this every day, but if you need a tune-up and meet the conditions I mentioned, it's free! and effective at shuffling off some of those dead skin cells.
Also, I would NOT follow this with any kind of AHA/BHA or retinoid, no way.
(*Arbonne something or other - it's in an orange bottle, & isn't drying, washes clean, seems to be ok with skin like mine.).
Found it - RE9 Advanced Smoothing Facial Cleanser. It's good.
