Review of Giorgio Armani Silk Powder Foundation by nutsaboutmakeup
Recently tried this powder foundation cos i was looking for a sheer coverage powder that controls oil. so the ma recommended #5 for my NW25-30, LM Nude in TM, stila b/30 watts skin but i find it a shade too dark if i use the sponge provided, so i use a brush instead.
packaging - comes in the lovely black armani case with a mirror. am a little pissed that this is no longer refillable. ma says that its not very practical & more expensive cos the refill used to cost AUD$72 while the compact + foundation costs AUD$92 & u have to use back the old compact. I say "bollocks" to that. the company probably received complains about the flismy packaging. the compact contains the foundation in a smaller circle sitting within the compact & u have to flip that up to reveal the sponge. the clasp holding the foundation is darn flimsy - i worry that it will break any moment. everytime u open ur compact, the foundation shifts up, revealing the sponge & if u look at the side of the compact when closed, u will notice that there is a gap - like your compact has been broken. they probably dont want to change the packaging cos its the same packaging used for the limited edition palettes. it would be too costly to revamp the line or it could be their way of earning more!
product - coverage is sheer - the redness in my cheek has been toned down but i still can see my skin. it turns out very natural looking, like i dont have anything on. My skin is combo/oily in t-zone with dehydrated cheeks. with this i dont find my face, esp the t-zone, greasy during mid day but i have noticed white zits appearing these few days. will update if its this breaking me out cos i have broken out from the fluid sheers, MSF & LSF. now i sincerely hope this isnt the cause of my breakouts cos while using it & then visitng mu counters to check stuff out every ma exclaims, "my you have such beautiful skin / complexion" & i said "thank you its my genes..."
ETA (1802): Managed to get a sample of #4. although #4 is lighter than #5 & the right shade its still too yellowish for my skin. Compared to #5, which is darker & orangey on my skin, #4 is right shade but too yellowy. i dont think i will repurchase cos am paying too much for something that doesnt match my skin tone.
