I bought one of these lip glosses in Chic because it looked like a nude pinky brown in the tube. When I got home and put it on, it was more of a bubblegum pink. I decided to get another one in the colour Vintage, because it looked like a dark reddish brown in the tube. Vintage is a sort of dark mauve colour when you put it on, and after a couple of hours, it turns into a bright pink colour.
I would say that the stain part of the name is right, but the colour really only stays around the edges of your lips, and it stays as a bright pink. It is somewhat hydrating for a little while, but after about an hour, my lips felt dried out. These could be good if you're looking for a bright pink colour, (it seems like no matter what it looks like in the tube, it looks bright pink when you put it on) and if you have a good lip balm to wear underneath it.
A few people mentioned the smell - to me, they smell like crayons, but the smell fades a few minutes after you put it on.
I honestly don't see myself ever wearing these, since they look so bright pink when you put them on, despite the colour they look in the tube.
Great price, nice packaging, great colors, I have muavulous and its great, more pinky than muave but I highly recomend it
This is a pretty good product. I own Mauvelous and I love the color. The one thing I do not like at all is the scent of these lip stains. Its too over powering. I usually just ignore the scents of lip products but this particular one really gets to me. It has a plastic-y scent, hard to describe.. I would not recommend it to people who do not like scented lip products.
This is the very first lipstain I have found that the color you see is the color you get. All other brands I have tried are too intense or dark--not at all like the color advertised. Also, I love the creamy texture. With other lipstains, you have to add gloss every little while or your lips get SOOO dry. I have read a few reviews on other sites of people complaining this this is neither quick nor easy to apply. I beg to differ. I carry one in my purse at all times to use after I have eaten or drank something. I put it on with a lip brush at home to get that perfect shape, and the stain keeps that shape, I just have to reapply to re-moisturize. If someone is too lazy to take the time to put it on right, they need to stick with clear gloss! Another great thing--the cost. This is the most economical lipstain I have found. I bought every color except for just the darkest, as I have very fair skin. $5 is a VERY small price to pay. This is one SUPER product! I will buy every color again as I use them up!
These are decent lip stains. I like that they add moisture to your lips, and the chubby pencil style is cute. The moisture didn't stick around too long, but my lips didn't feel dry. The stain stayed around for a little longer than your average creamy lipstick, but nothing great.
The main thing that I didn't like is that the lip stains are not true to color on the package AT ALL. I purchased the color that looked very purple in the package (and the pencil was purple on the outside as well). I got it home and applied it - it's a bright, almost hot pink color.
The next time that I was at the store, I was interested in the wine colored pencil. This time I opened the package and smudged a bit on my wrist (yes, I know I'm not supposed to do that). And the wine color was a bright pink also!
My advice is to try to test the color out before you buy it.
I have been searching for the perfect peachy nude lip color for the past few years since MAC discontinued my HG color...I finally found it in this Hard Candy All Glossed Up lip stain in the color Chic! Not only do I adore the color, I like the high shine gloss and the very lasting staining effect. I bought a backup of it, and I think that I am going to buy a few more backups just in case!!
Love love this product! I bought this in the pinkish nude "Chic" (so I can't really speak for other colors), but this color is amazing; it gives my lips a beautiful and natural tone! I was blown away by how highly pigmented this is and is definitely the best drugstore chubby lip pencil in my opinion. It's pretty easy to apply and glides right on with no messes or anything. There's no need to sharpen it as well as there's that knob on the bottom (like a gluestick or something haha) that allows it to turn up. It claims to be a hydrating lip pencil: I wouldn't say it's as moisturizing as a chapstick or something, but I find it definitely keeps the lips from drying. The color also lasts for a good 3-4 hours afterwards.
Its price (five bucks) is like the cherry on top and makes it a keeper! I will definitely try other colors as well. If I HAD to say something not positive about this, it would be the scent...its like a light crayonish/wax scent, but it goes away after a couple of minutes after application, so it's not a huge deal.
I have a variety of lip sticks, balms, glosses, stains. These are not bad. I paid $5 and I think it is pretty reasonable. The color range is pretty good as there are neutrals to brights. They have a slight wax smell to me when I smell the crayon but I don't smell or taste anything on my lips which is nice. Often companies put peppermint in the lip products and I am not a fan of tingling and sometimes it even dries my lips out. Thankfully this lip stain doesn't have that issue. Applies very easily in a gliding motion to the lips. I like that they turn up and don't have to be sharpened. My product was in a sealed plastic box, however, the color was pretty easy to view through the container when making my selection. I will for sure go back to by more to add to my make-up collection.
I was pretty impressed with these, more so than the Revlon Just Bitten ones. The first one I got was Orange U Sweet, which unfortunately is not orange. It is, however, a beautiful bright warm pink that is very flattering on my warm toned, NC20-25 skin. It had a weird smell too, despite actually being fragrance free, similar to real coconut oil, but more chemical. It dissipates really fast so its not a deal breaker. I liked it enough that I decided to try Chic, which is a really nice warm petal color. This one had no scent at all so I don't know if I got a weird one or what.
All in all I like these. I wouldn't say they are hydrating, but they don't dry my lips out nearly as bad as the Revlon ones and they have a softer, glossier finish, but the stain does last. Like all stains I have to prep with a lip balm and touch them up or they look patchy, but that's because I have chronically dry lips. They don't have added fragrance, peppermint oil or shea butter (I'm allergic to it) so that's a huge plus. The price is very reasonable. The only real drawback is that I have to go to Walmart for them.
Surprisingly loved this. Haven't had a lot of success with this line but loved the color Cupcake and figured it's $5, nothing to lose. So glad I took a chance. It's super hydrating, like a glossy balm and very pigmented. It wore an average time for a lip product but didn't stain quite as well as the Revlon ones for me. But it did have a a fair amount of stain for a few hours even after it wore off. It goes on very smooth and looks like a gloss. I'd say it pretty much lives up to it's claims.
