I never write product reviews, but I made an account on this website specifically to warn people about this product. I really wanted to like this, and I was so excited to finally purchase on Cyber Monday with the 30% off.
This product is terrible. First, the smell is funky, but if the product worked well I'd be able to live with it ... but it does not. I was using this product mainly to clear up my tiny, under-the-skin bumps on my forehead and cheeks, as well as to de-slick my oily t-zone. However, this toner made turned my tiny flesh-colored bumps into large, red, sore bumps all over my forehead and cheeks. Moreover, the product stings. At first I thought it might be meant to sting, but after a few uses I noticed it isn't a pleasant "I'm working" sting, but rather a "my skin is being chemically burned" sting. After using this product, my skin is hot to the touch, itchy, and bright red.
Absolutely not. No thank you. I would return it, but thanks to MTTO's horrible return policy, I'd lose less money by just throwing it away.
Before I bought this product I think what's the point of putting on toner till I got this. It's perfectly for skin I noticed a difference in my skin when I use this and smells amazing, my baby sister says it smells like in her words 'nature and tree' lol
I've only had this product for two full days. I bought it because I read so many positive reviews. I've dealt with problem skin my whole life: sensitive, oily, dry in spots, acne-prone. Lately, I've gotten most of my breakouts under control but figured I'd try this. My face looks like a war zone. New, painful and inflamed red zits have formed all over my face, much more than usual, and like arielleem, I have also experienced itchiness on my neck. I'm really hoping it doesn't turn into a full-fledged rash. At this point, I'm willing to continue with the product for the next couple of days. However, in my experience, products that don't work right away never do—the whole "it's just drawing out the impurities" thing never seems to be the case. I'm hoping I don't have to return it, but it's not looking good.
I've been struggling with severe hormonal acne due to PCOS. While I've recently went back on my BCP, I also added this toner to my skincare routine and I really think it's been helping with the acne. Right now my skin is drying out (normally combo/oily) and I have large, painful break-out spots on my cheeks and jawline/neck. I've been using this toner day and night and notice a significant decrease in redness, swelling and new spots.
My face feels refreshed and clean after using this. And even though my skin is dry during the winter months, I don't feel like this strips my skin and makes it feel tight or uncomfortable.
I think this is very similar to the Aubrey Organics Blue Green Algae toner that has been discontinued, so if you loved that one and were looking for a replacement, check this out.
I really wanted to love this. All the ingredients are so wonderful, reviews stellar... Doesn't work for me. I have extremely dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin and recently my acne has been out of control. I'm 23 and have had about 10 active pimples on my face plus 20 angry red scars for the past year with no clearing signs ahead. I bought this expecting miracles. The ingredients are to die for! Well first of all, every time I use it it burns so bad it's almost unbearable. And I used it on my neck only once and that was probably 2 months ago and broke out in an insane rash it's still there. I don't know what it is! It works for everyone I'm devastated. If you are reading this don't let my review scare you away. It has fantastic ingredients and rave reviews (which got me to purchase it) but it certainly didn't agree with me. Skin issues is a learning game and all about experimenting. All skin is different and you have to keep trying until you find your winner! I still give it three lippies just because I know it is great for most people. But for me the search continues!
I don't write reviews often. I don't think I've written one in 5+ years. However, I had to write one for this product. I heard from other YouTube and beauty bloggers that Michael Todd only publishes 4+ star ratings (I have no idea if that's true or not), so I decided to write my review here just in case.
I have oily, acne prone, and reactive skin. Even though I'm 26, I still broke out a lot - especially with grad school, and around that time of the month. And then I bought this toner. Best thing I've ever purchased. Ever. I've used drug store, department store/sephora, and prescription products. Nothing has worked for my skin as well as this has. It's reduced my breakouts by about 90% (after about 3weeks of use). Freaking amazing!
Packaging -- You get a significant amount of product. Way more than other drug store or department store products.
Price - Awesome. The site offers a 10% coupon for first time shoppers.

This is one of the only products I would repurchase from Michael Todd. The Blue Algae toner is great. I really like how it soothes my skin and takes off everything and cleans out my skin nicely. I like the added effect that after using this my skin doesn't feel tight, irritated, or dry. It feels moisturized slightly. The reason my low rating is that it advertises as an acne prevention and treatment. I've been using this for 4 months now and still breaking out and it hasn't done its job in the Acne category. I would still repurchase this as it is a Natural Toner and I can't seem to find anything that's better and ive tried quite a few of products. I have grown to like the smell of this toner. It does take off the residue that my Purity Cleanser doesn't and refreshes the skin nicely. But it DOES NOT prevent or aids in treatment of acne. Although the ingredients are beneficial to Acne I didn't find it to help at all unfortunately!
I think this is a good toner. It doesn't irritate my skin or anything like that. But I'm not sure if it works any better than plain witchhazel that I was using before. It does smell nicer than the witchhazel but it is also more expensive. Still I would repurchase. If you are on a budget I think the plain witchhazel from the drugstore works just fine.
I love this stuff! I've only been using it for a week but it has already made a difference in my skin. My skin is so smooth and clean, I love it and highly recommend it , finally a toner okay for acne and dry skin!
This is the best toner I've ever used and one of my two favorite Michael Todd products (the other is the Citrus Cream Moisturizer)!
This is one of the powerhouses of the Michael Todd system. It has a refreshing tingle, zaps blemishes, and really balances the oils in my face. My skintone is brighter, the redness at the tops of my cheeks is gone, and my blemishes steadily cleared up and have been (mostly) prevented by this toner! I've been able to wear lighter make-up because I no longer need the heavy coverage and there's been a huge decrease in the amount of oil in my T-zone.
The only thing I don't like about this toner is the smell. It has a really strong medicinal lavender scent that smells exactly like Zoya's nail polish remover to me. Ugh! I don't like it at all but I can overlook it for the results I get. It also fades almost immediately so I don't have to smell it for long.
I was also pleasantly surprised with my full size purchase. The website says the bottle is 7.8oz but I received an 8.4 ounce bottle.
