i loooove this stuff! i have sesitive/acne prone skin, and i use this about once a week to get rid of the dead skin on my face. if it stings when you use it, its because your pressing too hard. ive been using this for at least 2 years. and i have never found anything that makes my skin feel so soft afterwards. i love you st. ives :P
This is, honest to God, the best exfoliator.cleanser out there. I used it for YEARS and would always get compliments on how good my skin looked. However, I unfortunately discovered that I am now HIGHLY allergic to apricots, which subsequently made my face blow up to literally unrecognizable proportions after using this. Now, a year later, I have yet to find anything I like better and still mourn the loss of my beloved face wash.
Broke me out really badly. I would not recommend this. Then again, I was only using it for a few weeks...maybe it takes longer to work?
My face did feel smooth, but rather raw when used everyday. It will make you feel like there is no gunk/dead skin on your face though.
Oh, and I tried this on my legs to get rid of ingrowns and it ROCKS for that.
OMG--rubbing walnut shells on your face is insane!!!!!!! I have lots of walnut trees in my yard, and let me tell ya, stepping on the broken shards of a walnut shell with bare feet will send you to another universe of pain. My point is walnut shells are sharp and harsh!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you have a very light hand with this scrub, or can't afford better--try something else!!!!! I love the Ponds microderm scrub, it rocks! Effective, gentle, and really still very cheap!!!
To each her own, but I just didn't like the feel of this scrub at all!
I've read over and over again that scrubs are too harsh for acne-prone skin types but I can't stay away from this stuff. Ironically, I only use it when my skin is clear. I NEVER use it on active blemishes. I massage it slowly and gently on damp skin for about a minute and then rinse off thoroughly. Nothing get's my skin as soft.
Purchased this over and over again, this scrub has been my HG for a couple of years. Loads of the celebs use it!! so it must be good. The scrub can be quite harsh, but I normally spend about a minute massaging gently into my skin and I must say I do feel an immense difference afterwards. Keeps skin soft and smooth.
HG face wash!!! this stuff is amazing ive been using it for years and let me tell you my skin is practically perfect unless its that time of the month
I love this scrub, I am surprised it did not get higher ratings. Although it may be a bit harsh for some, I have had no problems with it at all and my skin is sensitive. The scrub does a great job at getting rid of dry skin cells and keeping blemishes at bay. I had a crazy breakout a few days ago and have been using this scrub twice a day, once in the morning and once at night and my skin is looking much clearer! Definitely worth a try if you want a scrub that actually takes off dry skin. Microbead scrubs/cleansers have never done a thing for me.
The packaging was good, the price was good, the product was horrible. I have sensitive, combination, acne prone skin that gets pretty dry in the winter. I got this to get rid of flakes before moisturizing, and tried it in the shower. OW! It stung like crazy even before I started rubbing my face, and the grains felt waaaaay too big, like they were scratching...horrible. I will not repurchase this, thought I used it on my body around my knees and elbows.
An inexpensice scrub that makes my combi/oily/acne-prone skin feel good. The apricot granules can be a little harsh, though. So be moderate in terms of usage frequency, or else you'll get that taut-feeling and skin may become dehydrated. I agree when someone said there's a reason St. Ives has been around for so long. The products are effective and inexpensive. However, I quit using it as I wanted to try something else - a scrub that is more gentle in texture.
