I think that High Beam by Benefit is a must have item. Application has been made effortless using a simplistic bottle/brush method. A little goes a long way so it really will last forever too.
It does have a bit of a very pink shine to it, so if you are turned off by shiny products it would be best to skip this item. All-in-all I love it.
I took away one lip only because of the price. My suggestion would be to ebay this, or maybe ask for it as a stocking stuffer, And remember as with any liquid highlighter the key is to BLEND.
Rarely do I give something all 5's on here. :) But I think it's a fantastic product, it's quite expensive (though it'll last FOREVER), and the packaging is great. Another reviewer mentioned that this is a product that just makes you *feel* pretty to use, and it's true! I've been using this as an eye area highlighter, both on my brow bone blended into my shadow and under my eye, and a couple dots on my cheek area to make my blush glow. I'm still not sure on the lasting power of this product. It's hard to tell because it can look so natural. But it truly does make you look more awake if used on the eye area (which I've been needing recently, lol). So end result=it's expensive but will last months and months for me and I really like applying it and having a bit of a natural-looking glow. Give it a shot - this one's a winner!
*Edit - I've actually been using this as undereye concealer, and then patting some mineral makeup on top to dim the shine! I'll never go back to yellow-based correctors if I don't have to. This looks SO much more natural!
*Edit #2 - I've been mixing this into my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer for an extra oomph and I love it!
Excellent highlighter to define face and create dewy look! Packaging could be better though-perhaps sponge applicator similar to its sample or a pump. Also it is expensive though Boots natural have a similar product for far less money.
I got this a good four years ago, and have used it on and off. If used correctly (and probably on appropriate skintones), it can really enhance face structure and make you look dewier. I use it on my cheek and brow bones.
Using High Beams definitely takes practice! My tips:
1. Use sparingly! A little really goes a long way; I use a speck on each cheekbone.
2. If you can't see the highlighting from the angle/light you are looking, that doesn't mean it's not there!! Step under a light, hold your cheekbone up towards it, and you WILL see the gleam! Highlighters can't create their own light, so in low lights expect it to be almost invisible, just a faint hint of shimmer/color, if that.
3. Blend! Otherwise when the light does hit it, the edges will be VERY obvious to all who see. This is why you need to get it to catch the light to see where those edges are and blend them. Key to looking natural and not tacky.
4. One optional, but extremely helpful trick for me, is to blend/dilute this with something. For a while I just used water! Again, in the light this is blindingly reflective, so I like to mute it a bit this way. Recently though, I have started mixing it with emu oil, which works BEAUTIFULLY, really makes me look dewy. You could mix it with any oil for this effect. Oil is good because it's a bit reflective as well, mixes nicely and doesn't eveporate like water.
This stuff is awesome! I use it by mixing a tiny bit in with my foundation each morning. It gives it such a nice finish! When I add a few drops to my foundation it looks great!! It gives just an overall glowy finish that looks amazing. I would recc at least trying it that way once, I promise you will love the results! Love this stuff, and it lasts forever.
This highlighter did not look good on me. It was too dry and even had little flakes. I do not like the pinky tone either. It did not blend well.
Benefit has great marketing and packaging. I always linger at the counter, attracted by the dainty and pretty pink and black boxes and beautiful wooden display cases. The sales staff are always helpful, friendly and enthusiastic. Because of this, I have been seduced into trying the latest product but sadly, I, have been disappointed. The blushers, eye shadows, tints, etc. usually end up in the bin.
However, perhaps the products suit younger consumers? My nieces love the products.
this is one of benefits only above satasfactory products.I have a few friends who come over and beg to use this! hahaha :) for awhile i had dry skin and this was my saviour. cheek bones, innner corners of my eyes, and collarbones. my oil production has lately been out of control so i sadly cannot use this :( its gorgeous nonetheless. and still great for a glow to my collar bones and chest. i'll wait and see how my skin is this winter, i still have 1/3 a jar left. this lasts forever.
I think this product is brilliant - it makes my cheekbones look super defined, opens up my eyes and it generally perfect for my skin colour! Yes it is expensive, but I've yet to find something that works as well as this
I was going to swear off Benefit for it's gimmicky packaging, but this product lives up to the packaging. I love to use this as a highlighter in the bow of my lips, inside of my eyes, and under my eyebrows. Provides the perfect amount of shimmer and wears well.
A. its a great product. not an essential. but still really great for making your eyes pop out and shine shine shine.
B. price... pretty expensive. what like 28$? but hey.. you gotta suffer to be beautiful, ladies.
C. packaging.... helloooooo so cute! its a nail polish bottle. A+ for PRETTY.
D. i buy this product all the time cos it works [if you have normal skin....oily wont work..too liquidy. and dry skin... best not use it unless you like the cake-face look.)
