This cleanser is ok in my book, but not good enough for me to repurchase. It did not remove all my makeup because after washing my face I always use a toner and there was tons of makeup on my cotton pad. This is a decent face cleanser for people who don't use makeup and want a mild cleansing job, even though I purchased the mild version I still found this to slightly dry my skin. It did not break me out or cause any irritations but there are many cleansers out there that are much better for half the price.
I haven't had much luck with Clinique products lately, but this one really works for me. I love the pump bottle, and you do get a lot for your money. I have been using this for about a month and the level in the bottle has only gone down about 3/4". The soap is gentle on my skin and foams nicely. My skin doesn't feel dry and tight after using it and my makeup comes off easily, even long wear foundation. I would really recommend this product, and I will be buying again.
Ok, so I"ve finally decided to stop reading reading reviews for free. I've taken much advice from MU and would like to add back.
I have a weakness for good facial products in my never ending quest for perfect skin.
I bought this cleanser as i do believe that something mild is way better for me even though i have combo skin, moderately oily t-zone, comfortable in the cheeks. Cleansers for thsi skin type tend to be too harsh, in fact im skin type 2 on the clinique skin chart thing.
This cleanser is great to take away grime, light make up, its just a good cleanser that doesnt leave a tight feeling afterwards. Its really gentle but cleans effectively.
I will definitely re-purchase. I wish I had found this earlier and not wasted money on zillions of other products.
A good but with good packaging. Excellent to take into the shower, does not cake up like the bar soap. Good if you gym as well.
This cleans my face of oil, dirt, light makeup and leaves my face hydrated. The lockable pump makes it easy for travel. Pretty much everything to ask for in a facial cleanser. I have combination skin and use the Mild version.
Ugh...I feel so bad. My mom insisted on buying me this, as well as the toner and moisturizer that came with it, and I feel so bad because I reacted terribly to the cleaner (the toner I'm fine with though & haven't tried the moisturizer yet). I did love the way it foamed up, but it gave me pimples everywhere! It gave me a huge cystic pimple on my cheek that hurt, but wouldn't pop, and it gave me a bunch of little whiteheads along my jaw line. And when I break out, my zits are red. Not red, but RED! And I'm very pale, so they stand out like sore thumbs. Terrible...definitely not buying this again. I'm really starting to lose faith in Clinique, since the lady at the counter blatantly lied about them changing the formula of their products. Absolutely ridiculous! continued >>
I tried a sample of this because my stock of favorite cleanser of all time (Wet 'n' Wild Face Gentle Cream Cleanser) is running low and I wanted to find a replacement. Well this is certainly not it. It broke me out, made my face super oily, and the smell is like Vicks...ugh :( I won't purchase this...

I received a sample of this along with the toner and dramatically different moisturizer with my order from Sephora. This stuff is nice (doesn't foam up as much as my Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin, which I LOVE). I like cleansers that foam; I feel like they get my skin cleaner (even though it may not be true). Overall, this is a nice basic cleanser. It got the job done, and I did not break out from it (which is a HUGE PLUS!!) This cleanser doesn't do such a great job at removing makeup. You definitely need to use a face makeup remover first and then cleanse your face with this. (Clinique makes several makeup removes, and they would probably advise you to purchase one to go along with this.) I just feel that it's over priced for being such a basic cleanser. I'd recommend this stuff for people with sensitive skin. It's gentle enough. Maybe, I would have been more thrilled about this had I used it with the 3 steps instead of just alone??
Do I like this product? YES
Is it HG status? Not Quite. Clean & Clean gets the job done at getting my face clean and removing all of my makeup for just a few bucks! I have no need to spend $15 on another cleanser right now. If I go another sample, I would definitely use it though.
Overal- this is a nice & gentle facial cleanser, but you can find one just as nice in the drugstore/super center for a lot less money. continued >>
I am on my 4th bottle of this product, I have nothing negative to say about it. I love the 3-step program, and this facial soap is perfect for me. You really have to rub in the liquid soap into your face to feel a deep clean, but it makes up for that by also being a makeup remover (saving money is always a plus!). It does foam up more if you apply more water, less with less water. It does not dry you out if you are in the appropriate 3-step program, and I've never heard it causing break-outs on anyone. Great product.
I bought this as part of Clinique's 3 step skin care. I read good things about the products in this line. So when I was at Macy's and they were having GWP for Clinique, I bought it.
In theory, this is a good idea. Using 3 skin care products everyday for a better skin. The price is not that bad compared to other department store brands either. But based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this to a friend. I'd tell them to save the money and buy something better.
Liquid soap: Just ok. Nothing to write home about. I always use Noxzema's cleansing cloth to remove makeup before washing my face so I don't know if it's effective when used alone. I heard that it was better to just use water in the mornings to remove night cream from the previous night so I don't use liquid soap/face wash in the morning. It seemed mild enough though.
Clarifying lotion: I have dry sensitive skin and this thing stung. I also felt that my skin was dry after this. Bobbi Brown's toner (my HG) always gets the makeup residue after face wash and it leaves skin feeling moist so I was underwhelmed.
Dramatically Different Lotion: The only dramatic thing about this product was that it didn't moisturize at all. It seems like this product may be more appropriate for people with oily skin.
I really wanted to like this, because I've had a lot of success with Clinique products in general, but it broke me out and was far from "mild" (I bought the mild formula, which is for dry combination skin, even though I'm more on the oily combination side) -- every time I used it I ended up with a new cystic bump on my face. I kept using it for a week or two because I didn't know if it was one of those "your skin has to get worse before it gets better" things, but as soon as I stopped using this and went back to my previous cleanser (Philosophy's Purity foam cleanser) the breakouts went away. I do like the smell and the packaging of this -- the pump dispenses a good amount of product.
