This is a GREAT product if you want to minimize your pores and have them cleaned out! The serum goes on your face smoothly and it smells very nice! I could see results IMMEDIATELY when I applied it on and I saw even more results the more I use it. I HIGHLY recrommend this product for all skin types. This product brings fresh skin up to the surface of the face faster than the normal rate so you will have new skin much faster!
I'm reviewing the old Idealist, which is discontinued.
Actually I must confess I have liked this version much better than the new one. No "ane" silicones and also little fragrance. They have increased the fragrance now quite a bit.
Also like plastic bottle (not exposed to light) which is also much better for ingredients.
But now we have new one:-)
worst product ever as with most estee lauder products. doesn;t do anything at all.
I love this product. I have oily skin acne prone and with acne scars. This makes my skin comfortable and evens skintone. Doesn't cause breakouts on me. Love the citrusy scent. This is my moisturizer. Aside from this I also use Clinique Dramatically different Gel moisturizer a good light moisturizer and Mary kay Formula 3 toner which controls my blemishes and oiliness.
I love the look and feel that this gives my skin, but I cannot justify spending over £40 on a product that has no lasting effect. Having said that, I did like the fact that I didn't have to wear foundation as this is good enough to use on its own. The product was updated from plastic to glass and four extra ingredients added. This was the reason I was given for the increased price but I didn't see/feel any difference.
it's the silicone in the product... that makes your skin feel so nice, it reduce redness too, fifty bucks for a small bottle is NOT worth it. It does make my skin super nice before applying Maybelline Moouse dream foundation... i like that but it's all it's good for... so i won't buy it again. I savor it since it's soooo expensive. I only use it on special occasions.
Like everyone else would say, it's basically a primer.
I agree though, it doesn't help improve your skin, it just makes your skin feel nice and smooth... like a baby's butt.
I've been trying out a couple of Estee Lauder products for the past week or so and Idealist was one of them.
According to the website, Idealist claims to have pore diminishing technology that is supposed to make large pores disappear by treating their appearance from the inside out. It also claims to immediately begin dissolving away pore-clogging debris, as well as clear away dead skin cells. It's packed full of antioxidants, has 3x more glucosamin (a sugar-derived, non-acid re-finisher) than the previous formula and has chestnut extract (these apparently help to get rid of flakiness), and it's supposed to brighten your skin and fade the appearance of discoloration and dark spots. Pricing: 1.0 OZ - $46.50, 1.7 OZ - $73.00, 3.4 OZ - $120.00
My initial thoughts of the serum was that it smells great, it's not overpowering or overly floral. It has a really nice citrus-y scent.
After putting it on, it instantly smoothed out my skin and made it feel silky and soft. It also reduced shine in my t-zone, which I liked.
However, the one downfall to this product is that it virtually has no long term effects, using it doesn't really benefit your skin, it just makes it look nice for the amount of time that you have it on. I didn't experience a change in my skin texture really, except that it actually got drier and flaky. I also got some blackheads, but I'm not sure if it's directly related to this product. My skin wasn't softer or more radiant. It does make your makeup go on nicely, though.
Long story short, it's basically just a primer.
For the price, I might be better off buying smashbox's primer! It's cheaper and does the same thing, in my opinion.
I'm glad I didn't buy, and I don't think I will end up doing so. I would rather splurge on a serum that actually has more promising long term effects.
I like the instant effect a lot, it makes your skin feel like silk, like no other product can! And it works great under a foundation.
But in the long run it didn't changed my skin at all.
Idealist makes your skin turn to instant silk, which is great is you have uneven skin texture. I love using this before my foundation because it makes my make-up application flawless and even. However, I took one lippy off because I have been using this a few months and it hasn't dramatically helped my redness around my nose and on my cheeks as I had hoped but I still plan on using it for how soft it makes my skin.
