This is the best eyeliner pencil. It is very soft, so it's easily possible to apply too much of it. I like to draw a thin line with the pencil and then smudge it out with the rubber/silicone tip at the end. The line still looks bold, not like smudged out shadow like some pencils do when you use the built in smudger. It has the intensity of a liquid liner but the forgiveness of a pencil. If I want winged liner I will use liquid though. Since you have to sharpen the pencil with a sharpener, there isn't always a thin enough tip to draw a precise wing. This is still a 5 out of 5, but the only downside is that it's not auto-sharpening/mechanical like my old staple- Revlon Colorstay liner.

Tightlining is super-easy with this one too. My eyelashes are so thick that if I don't tightline my eyes I get a gap that looks strange. This liner is perfect for when you want a liquid look, but don't have time or a steady enough hand to apply liquid.

I've used Revlon Colorstay liner for about 15 years now, (And Stila Stay-All-Day liquid for about 5) but I think that will repurchase this one from now on.

Love, love, love! This is high quality eyeliner at a drugstore price! This is amazing stuff, I rarely use liquid liner now! It is super creamy and melts on contact with skin. Afer applying my eyeshadow, I draw a thin line on the outer part of my eye, and take an angled brush and line my upper lash line. The result? A beautiful, thin, mega black line that looks gorgeous! I usually apply some black shadow for maximum staying power, but this stuff doesn't budge after it has dried. I very, very rarely wear eyeliner in my water line. Mainly because everytime I do, I get smudged, raccoon eyes, with black goop in the inner corners. But when I choose to look extra sultry, I swipe on one line of this stuff in the water line, and it doesn't smudge, or give me goopy tear ducts! It's amazing. The precision is amazing, and the color is extremely intense. I buy this over and over again. I HIGHLY reccomend this for anyone who over pays for eyeliner or anyone who wants smudge-free black rimmed eyes! My eyelashes are also pretty blonde, so after I apply this as I do, I put it on an angled brush and sweep it across my lashes, and after mascara, my eyes are black and intense. But, non racoon looking. (;

Based on all the rave reviews of this product I rushed out and bought black #798. There are two blacks actually. The other one is #799. Extra Intense is certainly the right word for this pencil. I used it on my upper and lower lids but not waterline. I did not like the look of it on my lower lid and I could not get it off at first or second try. This stuff lasts and lasts. I still have remnants the morning after even after carefully cleaning off with oil on q-tips. I think it is just too harsh on older eyes but I do have to say that it did not budge or smudge on my oily lids. it goes on creamy with a slightly thick line. Amazing staying power. I just think it is too much for me. I am a bit worried about the packaging. It has just a flimsy plastic cap like a lot of drugstore brands and I can see this cap coming off or cracking and creating a real mess inside of a makeup bag due to the creamy soft nature of the pencil. It would be very difficult to get the smudges off what ever it rubbed off on.
Since I probably won't be carrying it around with me....who would? This liner will last on your lids until you blast it off. A great liner for younger eyes than mine.

Dear lord, I love this eyeliner so much! I have oily eyelids, and thus, always use a primer (TFSI) but it definitely sticks around much longer than any other eyeliner I've tried! I rarely wear eyeliner on my waterline (contact lens wearer) but the few times I have with this it's stayed beautifully for hours! It's not great for a thin cat-eye but I don't really ever do that (I'm lazy!) so that not much of a concern for me! Hands down best black eyeliner I've ever had.

Love this eyeliner :) It's really pigmented and creamy. It doesn't stay on my waterline all day but it stays on longer than any other eyeliner I have tried. I would buy this again

this eyeliner is SOOO smooth. its a dupe for a MAC eyeliner. me and my friend keep on buying this over and over again! the only problem is that it smudges REALLY easily but its SUPER black and amazing! my favourite

OMG I cannot function without this! I LOOOOOOVE it! It is so dark and intense and sooo easy to fill in my water line. easy to smudge too. My only complain is that I have to sharpen it every time I use it! It is a good sized pencil but just know that it doesn't last a long time because you have to sharpen it almost every time you use it.

I like to put on a creamy pencil eyeliner and then go over it with a liquid liner. I find that it helps the liquid liner stay on and makes it easier to apply. This pencil glides on beautifully. I purchased the dark brown color and it is such a pretty dark dark brown. I am using it as a base for whatever liquid liner color i use. It is dark enough that when i use a black over it it still looks good. This is also a great liner for the waterline. My only complaint is how thick the end of the pencil is. It makes it very difficult to draw a thin line and i end up having to wipe some off after. But the color and the texture make up for it! I haven't had any issues with smudging or anything.

Wow! I would not expect to get these results from L'Oreal! They were always my favorite cheap brand and I know why now. Well I was always in love with Liquidlast by MAC but when I heard they discontinued it I went looking. I found this review and figured I'd give it a try. The reviewers were right! A pencil eyeliner that goes on smoothly and is BLACK! Looks just like liquid eyeliner! I was just concerned about the lasting power because I didn't read anything about that. Well I took a nap and when I woke up my eye makeup looked perfect, including my eyeliner! Didn't run or smear or anything. I use Urban Decay 24/7 on my waterline because with the formula I have no idea if the L'Oreal is safe for the waterline, so I guess that would be the only con I have. Then again I love UD 24/7 Liner so I could really care less but maybe for someone else. So I suggest any other ladies who are like me and love the intense gothic dark eyes BUY THIS PRODUCT!

EDIT: It does run a bit when it's applied to your bottom lashes, so because of this it loses a lippy. Not really bad, but just as a warning. I suggest using black eyeshadow for under your lashes instead of the eyeliner, or if you want to pat the black shadow over the eyeliner that works, too. And I'm not talking about the waterline, but on your bottom lashline. I still recommend this product, though.

EDIT AGAIN: this broke. gonna stick with actual liquid liner from now on.

I am asian and have very little bottom lashes. I used to use Revlon Color Stay Eyliner and that was the best I could do without it smudging for 12 hours. Until I found L'oreal Extra-Intense Pencil Eyeliner. It lasts 24 hours!! I like to wear heavy liner on top of my eyelids and this eyeliner is the best! It glides on smoothly and doesnt smudge! LOVE IT!!
