For the past few months I have stuck with using this foundation mostly because I was okay with it and I really did not want to waste money on searching for a better one. It's not bad but it's not the best. The lightest shade was too dark on my face. It doesn't really dry. It stays wet and greasy feeling which is why I would have to cake on the powder to make it feel decent. It did look cakey though. You could tell I was wearing A LOT of foundation/powder. And it wasn't even worth it in the end because within 10 minutes it would get greasy and shiny again. By the end of the day it was blotchy looking and literally sliding off my face. It covers well and I would buy it again if I had to because it is a few dollars cheaper here than most foundations but I prefer not to.
The finish is good..it has a nice dewy glowy finish, which is perfect for me in the winter. It also didn't make me breakout or anything..which is really good. However, after a few hours, it did make me look oily so I'm not sure if buying this again would be a good choice since it's getting warmer. Overall, I think this is a good foundation if wearing to go out just for a few hours. The price is good for a drugstore foundation && I'm lovn' the pump!
I have quite dry skin so this was a risk buying this product, but when i first wore it a couple of years ago i fell in love. I recently re-purchased it i applied a moisturiser underneath. It still looked like a dream on my kind of dry skin! Its soooo soft and covers quite well.
Feels smooth on the skin.
Covers quite well for a liquid mousse.
Works well ontop of a moisturiser.
Did'nt affect my dry(ish) skin.
Has a pump.
Retails at an affordable price.
Does'nt last very long on the skin.
If you have really dry skin i would'nt reccomend this.
Not a great colour range, and the lightest shade was too pink for me and the second lightest shade is too orange based. But thats what you get for having an awkward skin tone haha
This foundation, like it's cousin Dream Matte Mousse is NOT recommended for individuals with oily skin. With that being said it's not as bad as DMM. It's easier to apply and blend. The only downside is the shading. Caramel is too dark/orange for my skin and Honey is too light. So i tried blending the two but I didn't like the consistency.
Overall, I love this foundation. The only down side is the coverage. I prefer medium coverage, and this is more of a sheer, slightly buildable coverage. You can still see my freckles before I set it with my max powder. So, for people who love full coverage, this foudation is not for you. That said, the pump is great, it's incredibly blendable, and it really does help you get that airbrushed look. This was my favorite foundation for a long time before I decided to find something with a little more coverage.
I have pretty much edited out my original review to indicate that I can no longer recommend Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation. On the positive side, the product offers a functional pump applicator, blends and builds well and does not have an obnoxious chemical smell or cakey look. On the downside, the fairer colors tend to run a little pink, the mid-tones a bit too orange.
As foundations go, the finish is not drying and looks rather luminous. But like other foundations that have a dewy finish that I've tried, it doesn't set quite right on my skin (although it isn't particularly oily). Although Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation feels and looks fine at first, after a few hours it begins feel/look a tad bit slick (although not overtly greasy looking).
What ultimately became a problem over the course of the day and week is an imperceptible creep into the corners of my eye. (Not sure why. I've never had a foundation do this before.) Oddly, because it doesn't burn or sting right away, I didn't realize it was the cause of eye irritation. With repeated use, however, I actually thought I was developing an eye infection only to be puzzled in not seeing any overt redness or swelling in spite of going several days with a sensation that something was "stuck". The tip-off was that the sensation would subside at night, after my makeup was off, only to return late the next afternoon as the foundation began to migrate. I had begun to put a lot of eye drops in my eye to moisturize before I realized what the real problem was (there was mild swelling in the lower lid, outer corner of the eye). On the one hand, it's a real shame this otherwise promising foundation didn't work out. On the other hand, what's the use of a foundation that you can't get anywhere near the eye socket? Sadly, a deal breaker for me.
First and foremost, I love the pump! I wish more foundations came out that way for freshness as well as sanitary reasons. I can also control exactly how much I want to use.
The foundation is light to medium coverage, and I use the lightest color available. It doesn't have any effect on my sensitive skin, but if I am recovering from a rosacea flare up, it will show the dryness more. It does cover my pink/redness quite well in evening out my skin tone.
I didn't mind this foundation, it's not my favorite foundation but it isn't bad.
- Packaging is quite good, has a pump which is great
- Very easy to blend
- Has a very nice finish and isn't cakey
- Although it has a nice finish after a few hours it starts to look oily and smudgy
- Not very long lasting
This foundation looks AMAZING when you first put it on (with a natural finish and medium coverage), but after a couple of hours it gets greasy and slides off.
I agree with the reviewer that commented on the smell being very nice. So true! It smells like makeup -- not acne medicine, petrochemicals, or perfumes -- just makeup. Love that. It makes me feel like I'm using a more expensive product.
You have to love the pump, too. That and the texture make application very easy. It's super blendable.
I was considering repurchasing this foundation and in fact was scouring the Internet for it when I couldn't recall what it was. However, reading the other reviews is helping me remember why I bought a high-end foundation when this one ran out. I can't afford to keep buying high-end, so I think I'm going to try another drugstore product that's getting great reviews and has an oily/combination formulation. I do like this one despite its short wear time, so if the other doesn't work out, I may go back to it and try setting it with powder.
When I first put this on, it looks great and gives a good amount of coverage. However after a few hours, my face starts to look and feel very greasy. I did use this product for about a month and didnt realize how bad it was until i saw myself in a photo after wearing it for about 5 hours. The coverage was gone and i looked like an oil slick. If you have super dry skin, then this may be a good product for you - but oily skin beware!
