I have had this for a month now, and have tried it with all my different tricks, and still can't make it look as good as other mascaras I like reasonably well (Rimmel Lycra, Inimitable, Diorshow) so I have to give this my 2 cents. I have very average/thin straight lashes, decent length. This mascara is too thick and does not apply well. Today I used an old trick that can sometimes make an OK mascara work much better for me and is basically a last resort: I lightly dampen my lashes before mascara application. It was marginally better but not great-- my lashes are still clumpy and spidery when you look close. I am sad this was so disappointing, I bought it while traveling and can't return it. I will continue to use it until it is dried (I am currently rotating a half dozen mascaras) but would never dream of repurchasing for $5, let along $27. For reference, I love all three of the above mentioned mascaras, they are all different but really good for me. The packaging is fabulous for Faux Cils, but in this case it really doesn't matter. EDIT/ADDITION: I just tried this with my new metal-prong eyelash comb, it's still terrible! I can't believe this is so many people's HG.
Ahhhh, this may be my HG volume and length mascara! For length and curl alone, my HG is Shu Uemura Basic. Although the YSL doesn't hold a curl that well for me, it is ultra lengthening and volumizing WITHOUT the clumps. I used L'Oreal Voluminous for a while and I absolutely HATED the clumping. I don't have particularly sparse or thick lashes, and YSL does not clump at all. I would say it works like, if not better, than MF or Covergirl's lash comb brushes. The black is very black, and when I wear sunglasses, my lashes actually brush up against the lens. It is fragranced, which is kind of nice. It retails for about $25, I believe, and I would definitely purchase again.
YES! This is my HG. I`ve tried soo many mascaras, but I always fall back to this one. Cant be beat. Gives volume and lenght, lasts for as long as I want it to. Absolutely great, highly recommended!
This is probably my favourite mascara. Its not perfect but it is better than anything else on the market for giving your eyes a real wow factor and it does not smudge easily. My only issue is it that the texture seems to change after only a short period of time and it starts to dry out and flake upon application. However its plus points are a really good velvety black colour, the ability to properly coat your lashes without clumping them or weighing them down and the ability to really highlight your eyes so that they stand out that bit more and look lush.
Love this mascara, my eyelashes look full & much longer (my lashes are hitting my eyebrows)! I would say that this mascara is somewhat comparable to L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black if you want a cheaper alternative. If you have the money I definitely think this product is worth the splurge! The gold tube packaging is fabulous! UPDATE: I am fairly disappointed, after only a month the product is all dried out . I love this mascara but I cannot justify spending that amount for a mascara only to last a month. Also you have to wipe the brush frequently or the little bristles just stick to the wand, in essence just giving you a stick to work with. Not sure if I will repurchase. Oh well, the product was good when it was fresh.
My new favorite mascara..sooo expensive though..but it does everything. Lengthens and thickens with a deep black color that doesn't fade.Lashes stay nice and soft, not stiff and flaky. I immediately bought two more for my supply. Don't know how long I will be able to keep up this expensive obsession, but for right now this is the HG mascara!!
I bought this at the Moscow airport while I was bored waiting for my repeatedly delayed AeroFlot flight. It entertained me then, and continues to do so; the shiny tube reminds me of my escape from bad Russian chocolate and uninterpretable flip-style announcement boards (the kind that the flaps spin around on until they reach some predestined random letter/number, only to start flipping again). Nothing fancy about this mess of a wand, in less than a month it resembled a teddy bear that that been through an industrial washing machine no less than 6 times. Clumpy, less of a brush than one big disgusting clump. The bristles were globbed together more securely than Batu's Golden Horde.
Imagine my surprise when it actually looked fine on my lashes (yes I continued to use it after it turned into the aforementioned clump). It's thinner/lighter/less waxy than Maybelline's Volum' Express, with the same results: slightly thick, stubby lashes. The problem is not with the volumizing properties of this mascara (average at best) but that the product doesn't thin out at the end of the lashes, it somehow coats the tip of the lash with the same thickness as the base of the lashes. Your lashes may be thicker, but they are stubby thick. Stout, scrubby, chunky, stocky, cow lashes.
This mascara is perfect for the first few weeks. After that, it starts to get a little dried out. I haven't found anything better though, so I continue to purchase Faux Cils. It is the best all-around mascara I have found (and I have tried just about everything). It lengthens, holds my curl, and of course gives nice volume to my puny lashes. I do wipe the wand down every week or two to keep it from getting clumpy, and I make sure the cap clicks closed every time. I just wish a tube lasted a little longer!
I dont think there is a better mascara than this one. This is my fav mascara in the world. I've tried every H/E mascara and NONE compares to this one, nope, not even Diorshow! Sorry Dior lovers but this does it all, it gives me the most amazing lashes and it really does live up to its name! I've got people asking me all the time if I'm wearing false lashes, and when they find out I'm not they complement me and tell me how beautiful my eye lashes are. Little do they know my lashes in reality are not that long! I want to get this in other colors too...
