I expected so much more from this scent! I mean strawberries and vanilla...I was expecting something amazing. The scent is really muted but then again none of the Lush products ever really match what I think they will smell like. I eventually get use to them.
This is a very nice basic conditioner for those that just need more of a conditioner rinse.
I have an oily scalp with normal ends that can get dry if the wrong products are applied.
American Cream smells like lemon sherbert and it cheers me up during my morning shower. But it is not a moisturising conditioner. I am using it as a non-foaming "shampoo" and I don't condition my hair afterwards.
I'm kinda on the fence. I do really like this and I am sold on the scent but not sure if i think it's amazing. It does moisturise my thick hair and goes really well with Curly Wurly.
I think the reason I used this for so long was because of the hype surrounding it. It wasnt a particularly good conditioner. Yeah, it made my hair soft, but it did nothing for the frizzies. And the smell was pretty bad. My husband couldnt stand the way my hair smelled when I used Lush hair care (Cynthia Sylvia Stout or Rehab and American cream). I think this woudl be best for someoen with fine or thin straight hair. Definitely not enough moisture for thick/curly hair.
Okay, I don't know if I got a bad batch, but the smell is HORRIBLE! I got a sample at Lush and I don't know what they were thinking giving this to a girl. It smells very strong like men's perfume. Unlike most hair products, the scent stays on my hair all day. Unfortunatly for me that meant I was grossed out by my own hair. I've been sniffing my hair trying to put my finger on the scent and I think I've finally figured it out - rubber tires for a car.
As for it's performance, it's a lighter conditioner. I usually use really heavy conditions so this was a nice change. My hair is definitily not as weighed down as it usually is. If my hair was damaged whatsoever this would not work.

I received a generous sample of this from LUSH UK, and I'm glad I did, because I will never spend money on this conditioner. American Cream is much beloved for its sweet scent, but to me it just smelled cloying and milky. Even that would have been forgivable, but what really makes this conditioner unusable for me is that it fills my hair with static. Seriously. I use this, air dry my hair, and then when I brush my hair lifts up. I know I want voluminous air, but floaty, frizzy hair is not my thing. A disappointment from LUSH, but it did lead me to Veganese, which is, as you will see from my review, the best conditioner ever.
The smell lasts for ages, and it smells sooo amazing, it does leave my hair soft, but not as soft as it claims.. but will be buying again.

I did not like this as a regular hair conditioner. It really did'nt do much as a detangler or a moisturizer for my hair. It seems to work better for me as a leave-in conditioner/style hair cream. This stuff is kinda pricey too! $19.00 for only 8.4 fl oz is a bit much and not enough return on that investment.
This conditioner has a lovely smell, and it is not bad for me. But you do need to use more of it than some other conditioners. It makes the product a tad expensive and personally, now that I am trying alternative products for my hair, I won't be repurchasing. It is just too expensive for something that is not very moisturizing.
This conditioner smells amazing. However, it does not leave my hair conditioned and I have to use about a handful for my hair to feel even slightly soft. It is also expensive for what it is, I was expecting this conditioner to be alot better as I love most lush products. I have taken to using a small amount of this conditioner after another brand just to make my hair smell nice but I probably wouldn't buy it again.
