Holy grail. It makes my lashes look full, voluminous (go figure), and black. If you're a fan of Clinique High Impact, this might work for you. I have naturally long lashes, and this mascara works wonders for me. It doesn't smudge unless I rub at my eyes, but I'm okay with that. The longer I have it, it gradually dries a little and becomes even better. No clump issues, just make sure you wipe off any noticeable excess on the tube's rim before you apply. It holds a curl and is great for winging out my lashes at the outer corners. Lovely, cheap, and worth a try.
I had to get a ds mascara in a pinch and I remember being blown away by this as a teen when I switched from my first mascara, great lash.
Six years and many many mascaras later, I find this to be average.
It gives some length, some volume. It clumps a little but doesn't flake much at all.
But there really are many mascaras for the same price that are much better.
My roomie likes this one so I think I'll pass it on to her.
No matter what I stray to, I will always come back to this mascara. It should be in every makeup bag of every girl who wants dark, thick lashes. For the price, its a must. It is a wetter mascara, so you'll need to have some technique for keeping it off your upper brow bone, but it wipes off easily. The brush is big as well, which I love.
I've probably gone through 20 tubes of this mascara by now, and even though I've tried tons of different ones, nothing has come close to rivaling it. It gives my lashes volume and length, doesn't clump, doesn't flake, and doesn't irritate my contact lenses.
I enjoyed this mascara overall when referring to the way it made my lashes look voluminous. I like how black the carbon black looked on my eyes. I am not too interested in packaging so as long as the mascara does its job packaging is the least of my worries. The reason I wouldnt purchase this particular type again is because it made my eyes feel irritated. After applying this mascara, my eyes were really itchy and I have only ever had this issue with this particular mascara. Its really too bad because I liked the way it looked. I have used mac and clinique mascaras and havent had an issue, I was trying to go for something cheaper. I guess I will keep looking.
~~** EDIT- I have re-tried this and like it, not sure why it irritated my eyes before, but when I tried it in the past it was in the summer and maybe it was another eye product that was irritating me. I love it and will continue to use it. Only downfall is sometimes I notice that it runs a little under my eyes after the gym. But its a good mascara for volume**~~
I wanted to love this mascara so much, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. After I applied it, I loved the way it looked, but soon after I would have raccoon eyes. It was really disappointing. I gave it a little over a week, but it just didn't get any better.. maybe I had to wait longer for the formula to become a little dryer? There are so many mascaras out there to try, so I probably won't be trying this one again.
I want to give an honest review for this product, bc I feel many of the other reviews are inaccurate. It's also been raved about by popular YouTube makeup girls who may or may not have been sponsored. We know Lancome pays Michelle Phan, right? That's L'Oreal's parent company. So we know it's happening.
This is just my opinion, so if you like it don't be offended, but this is the worst mascara I've tried that's still on the market. It clumps like none other. Brand new tube, 1 coat - still gives spider lashes. It looks so bad that you have to wash it off and start over. The brush gets gobs of product. The formula is gooey, so you get too much or none if you wipe off the brush. It smudges. It smears and makes a mess when you try to remove it.
I see no redeeming qualities in this product. Maybe it works for people who have so few or thin lashes that they can't clump together. I have fairly full lashes (they're just blond). This product looks and feels fake on me. It's a disturbing, odd black color that's not found in nature. It feels heavy, like it weighs down my eyes. It makes lashes feel crunchy. My mom and friends all had the same complaints.
For a drugstore mascara, I recommend: Maybelline- Full n Soft, Plush Volume, Stilletto, Illegal length- all good. Also, Cover Girl Volume Exact. High end: Urban Decay Supercurl, Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, & Clinique Naturally Glossy. Lancome, the same company that makes this L'Oreal mascara, has better mascaras, eg Hypnose.
Note that I do like the brown marker eye liner from L'Oreal Voluminous. So I'm not knocking the whole line. But you deserve to know how bad this product is on people with normal lashes. continued >>
I LOVE THIS MASCARA! Let me tell you it is amazing! I did a review on this on my youtube channel, LCmakeup24. It doesn't clump and give me dark, luscious, voluminous, and lengthy lashes. I do recommend this. THe formula is pretty wet and sometimes gets on my eyelids when applying (which is why i gave it a 4 out of 5 not a 5 out of 5), but the payoff is amazing. BUY IT!
Yet another product that I had already tried but purchased again because of the glowing reviews.
I guess I just don't see what makes this mascara so fantastic.
One coat only darkens my lashes and it's barely noticeable that I'm wearing mascara at all. So, when I add more than one coat it causes my lashes to stick together and weighs them down with a thick, wet gloop.
Because it takes forever to dry, using a brush only took most of the mascara with the comb, so I was left with heavy lashes at the base, mascara-less tips, and zero length, definition or volume. It doesn't have much stamina to last throughout the day either, smearing easily.
I suppose the "blackness" of this product was nice; it really is an inky black. That said, I'm still befuddled as to why anyone would rave about this product.
Maybe it's me. Maybe I have defective lashes. Who knows?
I HATED this mascara at first I wanted it because of the carbon black color. I opened it an used it an was mad it was watery an didnt do much for my red head eyelashes. I threw it in my makeup bag an figured Id use it over other mascara to make it black black. One day after awhile of it being in my makeup bag I grabbed it in a rush, BAMM my lashes were amazing!! I had to look at the tube twice to make sure what it was.. I think this mascara has to sit a little while an thicken to make it work good. I use it only now, with the business card trick to declump the lashes, it looks like I have falsh lashes on an they are black black! What Ive always wanted!!
