This does absolutely nothing to make my lipstick look better. The lines on my lips still show through (and I don't have many since I am only 23) and it does not make the application smoother at all. If anything, this lip primer makes my lipstick fade faster. I will not buy again. It does nothing that chapstick or any lipbalm would not do.

Really wonderful for making lipstick go on smoothly and not having every line on your mouth accentuated. Many may be skeptical that a lip primer can do wonders, but this is really great and silky smooth.

I love this product so much! I've been using it for about 4 months now and had to write a review because I'm really impressed with this. I was skeptical because I didn't believe a lip primer would actually make a liner, lipstick or gloss last longer. I was having a hard time with anything staying on my list and don't like to reapply lip products often, so I finally decided to try it and I'm so glad I did! This for me isn't really moisturizing. It feels comfortable on the lips, but I use a separate lipbalm since my lips can get really dry. However, if it was more moisturizing it probably wouldn't work as well in holding lip color. I apply a light layer, let it sit for a second to make it stickier, then apply my lipliner and gloss. I tried to just use liner and gloss alone to see how long it lasts without the primer and it's no contest. The primer made my color last twice as long. I cannot be without this product, will continue to buy.

I dont feel like this does anything more than a lip balm would. I feel like it is drying as well.

SA advised me to to buy MAC Prep and Prime lip treatement along with MAC lipstick and cremestick liner. It is a base that should be applied before lipstick or lip gloss to keep them from feathering. MAC Prep and Prime does not exactly moisturise lips, but keeps, shall we say, a lip colour product in its place. In other words, it does whatever it is meant to do. Unlike various lip balms, the product in question is not greasy or oily. Additionally it has a nice smell. Applied under other brand lip colour products such as Dior and Guerlain, this product has proved to work well. A pen-type design of the tube is very appealing. MAC Prep and Prime is sure to be a must in my cosmetic bag.

The trick that I've learned about truly "proofing" your lip makeup when incorporating this product is to exfoliate around the lip area (I just use a wash cloth or towel or a toothbrush when I'm brushin' my teethers!), apply this Prep and Prime stuff and wait. Yes. I wait for the product to truly sink it. It begins to get more of a tacky feel to it once it does. I then use a water resistant liner or product to line around the lip area. Again, I await for that to sink in. Powder around the parameter of my lips because I gotta set my face anyhow and slap on some gloss as the last step. I kid you not, for these wrinkly lips, this method has proven to be exceptional even after sleepin' with my makeup on, them lips still are defined. But I've learned that with this particular primer for lips, it's best to apply then wait a few minutes til you feel its slickness dissipating into a more tacky, dryer texture. I tell you what...with a waterproof product this is a tag team that's unbeatable for me!

Overall this is a good product, but I find that carmex does exactly the same job. Plus side is that it smells and tastes better than carmex..which is more pleasant. It's a nice product, I will continue to use it but I don't think I will repurchase since regular lipbalm like carmex can do the same job for me.

This is a great primer for your lips! It makes your lippies stay extra long. It smells great too. But I kind of find no use of it because lippies will always wear off, just keep reapplying it. Why need this primer to actually boost the staying power?

Not a bad lip primer.

Lately, I've been wearing frost lipsticks. They applied smoothly, but maybe an hour later, my lips looked really dry. They didn't feel dry, but they look very wrinkly. The MA suggested this.

It's not as greasy/oily/moisturising as chapstick, so the opacity and colour of my lipstick stays the same.

For satin lipsticks, I want to damp the colour a bit so it's not too bold. To do this, I apply the lipstick RIGHT AFTER applying the primer (when the primer's still a little "wet")

Other than for too-bold-lipsticks, I wait for the primer to dry a little before applying lipstick

Packaging is meh, but it holds together so I'm fine with it.

I have searched high and low for a product that will make my lipsticks and glosses stay on longer than an hour...HALLELUJAH for MAC's prep and prime lip treatment! I went to my local MAC counter and I was upset because I was told that it was out of stock everywhere. A week later I received a phone call telling me that it's back in stock and that mine was ready for pick-up. I tried this product as soon as I got home. It glides on softly and has that subtle vanilla scent to it. I used it with my lipgloss (which usually stays on for 30 mins then I have to re-apply) and made it last longer on my very dry chapped lips. It has not irritated me so far (if you have read my other reviews, I have mentioned my sensitivity issues with products...so for me to be able to use this and not have a reaction is EXCELLENT news!). As for how much of the product you're going to get...it's not much really ( please look at the pictures I have posted) it's only 0.05 OZ but since I don't wear any makeup or perfumes at work (I work in a hospital around patients) I imagine that this product will last me a while. Packaging, it's really simple and sleek. Will I purchase this product again, YES!
