Awesome stuff! I use this with the hydrating shampoo and they working amazing together. My hair feels soft and actually healthy now. Didn't think that was possible! I don't like when products come in tubs so I have this in the tube and I love it just fine like that! Yay for finding something that really works! Give it a go - a little expensive, but worth it.
this is a very good product, not the best ever, but good.
Leaves my hair soft and bouncy, but weight it down a little.
I have treated, colored long hair, and this conditioner makes it look healthy.
If you have really dry ends, try this conditioner, it could become your favorite. For me is really good, not the best ever, but really good compared to drugstores conditioners.
I love this conditioner. It makes my hair feel amazing. It doesn't make it oily either. I have soft, silky hair thanks to Matrix. I definitely will be buying again!
My HD swears by Matrix Biolage and I have to believe her because my hair never feels more at its best unless I've been shampooed and conditioned at her shop. My current conditioner Frederick Fekkai Technicolor was far too drying for my hair and although I knew I could fall back on my trusty Redken Colour Extend, I really wanted to try something new. I've used Biolage Colourtherapie before, but with the way my hair is now, I really wanted something much more moisturizing. This is a super duper moisturizing conditioner and nowhere near as greasy as Kerastase. It really coats every strand of hair and makes it feel instantly moisturized. I can't wait to see how my hair is gonna look after a few weeks of use!
*** EDIT: Since I started using this in May, I've been astutely aware of an increased amount of hair loss, especially through combing out clumps of hair in the shower or snapping off long bits of hair pre-straightening. This lead me to believe that this conditioning balm does not have any detangling or strengthening properties. I can't believe I put up with this for 5 months and I'm really starting to wonder just how much hair I've damaged/lost in the process. I still have a full of head of hair though...
Did not moisturize as well as other products. I found myself having to use more product than usual, since it was difficult to cover all of my hair.
I have switched to sulphate- and silicone free hair products recently, and this is my favorite conditioner. Other 'cone-free conditioners feel like they sit on my hair, almost gel like. With them, I can barely feel I conditioned my hair after I rinse it out and detangling is a mess. This one hydrates thoroughly, hair is easy to detangle and manage afterwards. It's very rich, so I may switch to a lighter conditioner in the summer, but right now with the weather here, it's a godsend. Scent is divine, very pure and plantlike, but not at all herb-ish. Highly recommended, price isn't bad either. Will repurchase!
This stuff is great, especially in the winter. Since I don't have particularly dry hair to begin with, I have a hard time justifying spending this much on a conditioner. If I was feeling like a good trusty splurge again though, I'd definitely pick this up.
Otherwise, I think I am better off buying my conditioner at the drugstore for my needs.
I have dry hair (done the straightening perm many times, coloured, blow dry, etc) and this product made my hair smooth and more manageable.
I usually shampoo my roots, and apply more conditional/balm on my tips cause thats where the most damage is.. if i have time, ill leave it in for 10 mins and its reallly moisturizing afterwards, and i rinse with cool/cold water when possible.
Has a great scent as well
Still use this and the knock off. Since my original review, I have transitioned to 100% natural, chemical free virgin hair. I would now give it 5 stars for my hair vs. the original 2. This conditioner is fantastic, it hydrates, doesn't weigh down, or dry out, brings bounce to curls, and when I straighten allows a beautiful soft bounce for my 4A hair. It is now a staple. Sometimes in winter I mix in jojoba or olive oil when applying for a richer finish in the cold harsh winter months. I still like Kenra Moisturizing and Aubrey Organics products too.
I tried the knock off version of this at Sally's - its called GVP Conditioning Balm and it is $5 for 16 oz. It has the exact same ingredients, smell, consistently. That worked for me. I realize that this treatment doesn't really make my hair shiny, strong, or detangled - but it does make it incredibly soft and bouncy if I blow it out. I will continue to use the GVP brand unless I ever find it remarkably reduced somewhere else. I only wish I would have saved the original Matrix container.
I purchased this and tried it for daily conditioning on my texturized 4A hair, and was not impressed. Did not moisturize well enough, and didn't detangle or soften hair much.
When used instead as a deep conditioner, with heat, it performed much better, but still not the best. All in all, I would not repurchase, as I wasnt overly impressed. I actually think that the $7 bottle of Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner leaves hair with a better finish than the $36 jar of this. For a more richly moisturizing, emollient conditioner, I would recommend Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner or Aubrey Organics conditioner.
I have fine, wavy, color-treated hair, and I use the conditioning balm on my ends while in the shower and my hair literally, literally feels like silk. I do a cold final rinse so that my hair stays shiny, and when I comb my hair after a shower, there are no tangles when I use this. Because my hair can get frizzy due to my waves, this weighs it down *just enough* to avoid those. This tub has lasted me quite a while. Would buy again.
