Was at the Benefit counter to buy High Beam and the SA asked me if I had tried their new mascara . I said I hadn't and she asked me if I would like to try it. Luckily, I wasn't wearing any eye makeup that day and so I decided to try it out. I have ( like most of us ) tried a lot of different brands of mascara at Sephora and wasn't expecting much out of this . Surprisingly I was blown away with just one coat !
I have straight eyelashes and while they are not sparse , they are not anything spectacular either . Just your average eyelashes that needs a good eyelash curler and mascara.
I really LIKED the way it looked at the counter so I bought it . Tried it again today after curling my lashes . Seems to hold the curl and lengthen my lashes . Very dark black mascara . So far so good. The only deal breaker could be the fact that it's not waterproof. I suffer from allergies and my eyes get itchy and watery , so waterproof mascara is what I prefer. I mentioned that to the SA and she said it doesn't smudge easily.
It made my lashes so clumpy, was so disappointed. Luckily it was a sample! Plus it was really hard to get it off!
Personally, I find this product way overrated. Yes, it does coat my lashes pretty well but other than that, it does nothing to my lashes. It gives me really bad spider and clumpy lashes. It didn't even spread out my lashes evenly. Also, it doesn't hold my curl and seem to weigh my lashes down even more, causing my lashes to look straight and stubby. The size of the wand is so huge, I was wondering if they are producing mascara for giants!! It's too huge to get to the corners of my eyes. However, that being said, the product takes pretty fast to dry, as compared to my Stila Stay All Day waterproof mascara, and doesn't stain my lids. It is also easy to remove. Other than that, there's nothing really great about it. I found it expensive too and the only reason I bought it is because sephora is giving away one travel sized bottle when the original sized is bought.
The good thing about this mascara is that it doesn't transfer into my oily eyelids and it does separate my thin, sparse lashes quite nicely, leaving them looking very fluttery. But I wouldn't say it is THAT volumizing nor lenghtening- it's just great at separating and defining the lashes. One thing that I don't like is the fact that the brush is plastic and the actual "bristles" are very, very spiky, so you have to be very careful to not poke your eye wen you're applying the mascara. Overall, I think it's an OK mascara, but not spectacular. I wouldn't repurchase this because I think it's too pricy (around $23 in Sephora) and I'm not that impressed with it to justify the price.
Got a sample of this for my Bday from Sephies. Is this the EXACT same cr@ppy formula as BadGal Lash? Seriously, this line has not been anything amazing for me. Dry and clumpy. Not the worst but so far from the best. I hate over-hyped products!
This product is horrible for me. I think we all have to face facts.. if you don't have long, thick lashes, you won't ever really "look" like you have them. Any mascara wlll just define what you got. MAYBE a little more legnth, MAYBE a LITTLE more thickness.
I tried this hoping that it might be The One of mascaras, and it quickly failed. Although there was zero flaking and no clumping, I found my Maybelline Full N' Soft was much better. This just made my eyelashes look like spider legs... a little longer, no thicker. But it made them so stiff and crunchy! That part I don't like... But a co-worker of mine is a make-up artist on the side, and she loves it, so who knows. I am also not a fan of the brushes with the ball on the end, as I feel they do nothing but create a ball of mascara at the ends, and this is no exception.
I have naturally curled lashes that are rather short and sparse. Benefit's "They're Real" really plumps up my eyelashes, adds length and helps my eyes appear a bit larger.
The formula is nice and thick. On the lashes, after it dries it is still malleable (while others with this kind of voluminous action can be stiff and crispy) and it doesn't feel overly heavy.
The brush is on the larger side and is rubber. I normally don't like the rubber wands because they normally don't give me the dramatic lashes I like. The bristles on this wand are densely packed and have rubber spikes on the end of it so that you can get your teeny little lashes (wipe it first though or you may get extra product and clumps!).
The packaging is a bit ostentatious but I like it.
It is a bit of a pain to remove. It will not come off with just my normal face wash (which states it will remove makeup)- I have to use a makeup remover first. Even then, I will sometimes wake up with the remnants of this mascara under my eyes.
Overall, I'll continue to repurchase. I'm not someone who likes the 'natural look' when wearing mascara and this makes my eyes pop without being overly clumpy. Thanks for the great mascara, Benefit!
REVIECED A SAMPLE OF THIS . ** 1 WEEK REVIEW** LOVING IT. I DO THINK ITS SO THICK THAT IT ADDS GREAT LEGNTH MAKES LASHES LOOK AWESOME. IDONT HAVE ALOT OF LASHES BUT YOU CANT TELL WITH THIS. THE PRICE A LITTLE STEEP BUT ITS WORTH IT.THE BRUSH IS REALLY NICE AND IN THE SMALL SIZE THERES ALOT OF PRODUCT SO I CAN IMAGINE HOW MUCH YOU GET WITH THE LARGE SIZE
This produces the most dramatic lashes I have ever gotten with mascara. I usually love big fluffy over-sized brushes and haven't liked the rubbery kind until this. The best part is the little ball at the end of brush that you can use vertically to curl and reach lashes in the outer corner of eye. The reason why it doesn't get 5 liippies is that it isn't waterproof, and I have used waterproof mascaras almost exclusively. Since it isn't...I can only wear this on top lashes as raccoon eyes are guaranteed otherwise. If this came in waterproof formula it would be HG.
In fairness this is a great mascara. Very dramatic but I wouldn't layer it on too thickly as it has a tendency to clump. I must say though that three work friends commented on my lashes the first day I wore this mascara and one colleague even went straight out and bought this mascara. It is the best mascara I have ever bought. The price is less than the Lancôme mascara which I found to be far less dramatic.
