What a strange love affair I have with this perfume. I agree with many reviewers, this is a very polarizing scent, and I've been on both ends of the spectrum, having hated and loved this perfume.
I purchased several samples a couple years ago when I started really getting into perfumes and initially did not like it all. While I could always appreciate the complexity and depth, I just didn't think it was me, and the inital blast of patchouli annoyed me. I have since pulled the samples out every couple of months or so and given them many additional tries. Over the last year or so I began actually liking it more and more to the point where I had used up all the samples and had to decide whether or not I liked this enough for a full size bottle. Well, I am now at the point with this perfume that I absolutely love it. I find myself craving it, especially now that the weather is cooler. I absolutely adore snuggling into bed with this scent floating all around me, it is so comforting and yummy yet deep and musky and sensuous. How much I love this perfume now is mind boggling to me, if you would have asked me a year ago if I would be wearing this scent regularly I would have said "hell no!" and made an icky face. I've recently started playing with the Angel flankers and am having a wonderful time with that as well. Some of the flankers are quite different, yet you can tell they're in the same family, but there's nothing like the original!

I decided to try this today based on the sheer number of reviews here, along with wondering if I would be on team 'love' or 'hate'. Keep in mind I tried it with an open mind. Well, it's team HATE for me! I couldn't wait to come home and wash it off the second I sprayed it on my wrist... It even made me dizzy on the car, the smell is strong and nauseating. My boyfriend said I smelled like pee and my roomie was asking what the bad smell was! It was definitely awful. To me, it reminds me of ladies with too much makeup on, walking through the mall and leaving a trail of THIS behind. Yuck. When I got home I came to realize I've smelled (and hated this odor) before , I just didn't know what it was called. btw I honestly can't picture a young person wearing it, it's a classic 'old lady' smell.

I was intrigued after hearing the love/hate distinction of this fragrance, so I decided to brave it and bought the entire set: EDP 100ml, Body Lotion 200ml, Shower Gel 200ml, Deodorant Spray 100ml & the Hand Cream 100ml - the main reason being I like to layer the scent.
First thing is that yes, this is an expensive fragrance (obviously even more so when you buy the entire line) hitting the €100 mark for the 100ml bottle. However it does have a refill option which I think is a good option to have on a fragrance.
The packaging of Angel is beautiful, I adore the bottle...however this is not a bottle made for travelling (100ml is a little bulky, so I would invest in a travel spritzer) - this being said you will not need to carry this bottle on a night out as with some other brands....massive staying power: on me lasts from before dinner to brunch the next day (with a long night of clubbing in between).
The scent now is something else: I spray twice (neck & wrists) and I will tell you at first it came across as unbelievably strong, the first time I sprayed it I nearly put the bottle back on the shelf marked as never again, you would certainly know you were in the room with this scent!
After a while the scent does mellow from an overpowering chemical - is the best way I can describe its entrance - scent to a spicy citrus which will still stay in the room after you have left. It does get a girl noticed!
Give it an hour/two and this is really when Angel comes into its own, a slight sweet, deep musk with a spicy end which is all woman.
It is true that this is a scent which divides opinion, everyone who has smelt this on me has had something to say...Angel is that scent which exemplifies the saying by Oscar Wilde "it's better to be talked about than not talked about at all".
This is a fragrance that you will have to try to see if it works for you & your chemistry. Personally on me I always spay a good hour before I head out just because of the sheer overpowering of those first notes and I wear it sparingly, not a signature scent for me....just one that I wear when I want to cause a stir. continued >>

Bug spray with an base note of body odor. It's not just on me that it smalls vile, I think it smells horrid on everyone who wears it. Honestly this is probably the worst fragrance I've ever smelled. It goes on strong with an intense artificial chemical smell and then dries down to something a little sour and slinky.
Got a sample of this and not liking it at all. Its more for women aged 40+. If you like sweet smells dont buy this its sickening. If you like Britney Spears Fantasy, or Viva La Juicy scents then you probably wont like this. Its not for young woman. Its true when people say you either love it or hate it. Im glad I only bought a sample.
I can think of no other fragrance as controversial as "Angel." Men and women alike have strong opinions on this one. You either love it or hate it it seems. A confessed perfume-aholic, I came pretty late to the "Angel" party. A generous sales associate found me loitering around the cosmetics counter in Macys and gave me a lovely sample of "Angel" in a convenient purse-sized roller ball. After dabbing a bit on my wrist, I spent the better part of the afternoon raising my wrist to my nose. Why am I a fan of this controversial elixir? Complexity. I would be hard pressed to describe what "Angel" smells like if I had to. I could easily tell you what it doesn't smell like..roses, the beach, a baby, talcum powder, a pine tree. That's the thing - it doesn't smell like any one thing. It's a mix, a melange of I don't know what. So I never get bored with it. If your ideal fragrance is one of the "Clean" scents, Dk Pure, or Pure Grace, I am guessing you will despise "Angel." It's not a clean scent. It's substantial and in comparison to some of my white florals, it seems kind of dirty, for lack of a better word. As much as I like it, it would never be my everyday scent even if I didn't work in a medical office. There's nothing casual or everyday about "Angel", so I would never use it everyday. But if I had to pare down my vast array of colognes to let's say, 5, "Angel" would be in that final round up. A word to the wise - one spritz on your belly is plenty.

I had this fragrance for a few years. I got lots of compliments after wearing it out. Has longevity and projection. However, it's 1) too sweet for my taste 2) way too common.
I do enjoy the scent, but will not repurchase. It's one of those scents that is polarizing- you either love it or hate it.

Ewwwww! This stuff smells like the cleaning fluid the janitor at my office uses.I sprayed some on at Dillard's without sniffing the bottle first and then made a beeline to the nearest restroom to wash it off. Maybe it dries down and morphs into something better, but the initial scent is nauseating. The only nice thing about this fragrance is the bottle.
I didn't actually buy this product, I only tested it in Sephora. I guess this is one of those "you either love it or you hate it" scents. I thought it was quite strong-smelling as well as old fashioned. It reminded me of the Shalimar perfume my grandmother used to wear. I was stunned because it doesn't quite smell like I'd imagine an "Angel" to smell like.
This is for sure a love it or hate it fragrance. I love it in moderation. I think that most people who wear this one overdo it and then complain about the strength of it. If you use it sparingly, then it can be quite alluring. It has a sinful chocolate smell that is mesmerizing. However, only wear this one in cold weather. It is not a summertime fragrance at all. Someone who works with me over-uses this and also uses it in the summertime, and it can be quite killer!! OMG...strong enough that you don't need to pair it up with matching body products. So that I don't become a sillage monster, I always wear this one by applying sparingly with a Q-Tip. The bottle is so cute. Love the star that lays down on my dresser. Makes a nice gift for someone too with that presentation of the star.
