I'm LOVING this face wash! I have horribly sensitive, acne-prone skin that reacts to almost everything, so I wasn't expecting to fall in love with a drugstore cleanser. Well, it's amazing! It doesn't dry my skin out or make it beet red and inflamed like many other cleansers do. It's a weird, slimy consistency. You kind of just massage it around and then it rinses clean. It leaves my skin calm and happy. The only negative I have is the cap. Mine leaks, but perhaps I just got a dud. Nevertheless, I'll be sticking with this!

I am really liking this face wash. I use it in the morning to cleanse and night to take off my makeup. I have sensitive combination skin and this doesn't irritate or break me out so far. I don't love the tube it comes in. I saw where others complained about that too. I wouldn't feel like I could throw it in an overnight back without it leaking etc.. so this one will stay at home. but otherwise, so far so good :)

*EDIT-7/18/2012: I just decided today that I will not be using this anymore. I thought my skin was being really extra oily since it was summer or something BUT I realized now that this leaves a film on my skin. I figured it out while reading others' reviews of it!!!! I was wondering why my skin suddenly felt so gross all the time. and I developed perioral dermatitis during this time so yea...ick. The search continues :(

Eh, I'm just not crazy about this. I picked it up because it was getting raves on the skincare board. Super cheap, plus I had a $2 coupon so that sealed the deal. I can see why many would like it. Gentle, non-stripping, non-irritating, sulfate/fragrance/dye free. But the texture is really off-putting to me. In a word, slimy. It rinses clean (I use it in the shower) but feels like I imagine rubbing half-set Jello on your face would. This doesn't lather much (which is part of why it's so gentle and I'm sure some folks would like this) but I'm quite oily and prefer a bit of lather. I don't think this would remove makeup if that's a concern. Its worth checking out for combo/normal to dry sensitive skin types. I will finish my tube but would not repurchase.

I've been using this for weeks now and although it's inoffensive enough, I'm not a fan.
Good points are it's cheap & doesn't give me breakouts. However, my skin feels tight and dry after using this, really stripped of moisture. I put moisturiser on straight after using it so it isn't as though I go around for ages with a dry face, but I don't like the feeling while it lasts.
I've got combination skin; if my skin was oilier I think this cleanser would be fine.
I wouldn't repurchase, because I think I can find something that's also inexpensive that will be less drying.

I love this face wash gel, simply simple - it leaves my skin fresh clean, no tingle or harsh feeling. My skin is combination oily and a little bit sensitive. Having tried Cetaphil but after reading all the concern about its troublesome ingredients, I decided to switch to another brand and luckily found this Simple gel. Totally satisfied with it and I'm planning to repurchase it!! Plus it's super cheap and easy to find :)
The only cons so far: the package got some problems. The cap is difficult to open (too tough) and sometimes I found leaking slimey gel even with bottle closed tight.

Got this as a free sample, thankfully. I haven't used it on my face because I tried it on my hands & it is hard to rinse. It leaves a slimy film that takes a good bit of rinsing to remove. It smells like, well, I don't know, maybe old bread? It is kind of sour and unpleasant, not at all what I expected when I requested the sample. It does leave my hands soft, continued >>

I've been sticking to sensitive skin facial washes lately and this one is what I've been using recently. There's no scent, which I love and the gel is a bit more runny than the normal gel cleanser. A reviewer below me had said it felt like "slime" all over your face and that is exactly what it feels like, no joke. But it does its job and is very gentle. It doesn't dry my skin out, so I'd recommend it to anyone trying to clear acne. As a side note, I've tried many acne washes as a teenager, and I realized what havoc its done to my skin. When I switched to products for sensitive skin, my acne cleared up.

EDIT: This product gave me more breakouts. I think it is due to the fact that it is so hard to wash off. I couldn;t get over how it feels like slime on my face. Left a bit of a residue :( Sadly, I will not repurchase or recommend. Will stick to my Clean and Clear sensitive skin foaming facial.

Saw that someone else had reviewed this product on the latest product reviews and remembered that I had used it and absolutely hated it, so felt compelled to do a review. My mum got me a gift set of Simple products when I was in hospital last year as I didn't want to be carrying around huge bottles of my regular face wash and toner. It contained this face wash, the "gentle" toner and the light moisturiser. Out of all the products this is the one I hated the most - the cleanser is so drying and left my skin feeling very tight. My skin is also quite sensitive and despite Simple's claim to contain only natural ingredients and to be kind to skin - this irritated my skin and left me with red patches. I would imagine this product would be good for someone with oily or acne-prone skin as it does leave your skin feeling squeaky clean but should be avoided at all costs for someone with dry skin!

First review on MakeupAlley, woo! Felt compelled to write a review because this is the first time that I've actually used up a cleanser and felt completely satisfied!! I have very fair, acne-prone and sensitive skin that drives me crazy. I usually either get very dried out or turn pink/red on contact from most cleansers and I have tried so many different products...Dove, Neutrogena, Aveeno, Cetaphil, Paula's Choice & so on. I was really excited to read the Simple claims about having no harsh chemicals or fragrance and after my first wash with this I had no irritation!!! Now a few months later, the product still has never left my face pink/red and my skin feels less bumpy when I run my hand down my cheek. I also don't get the annoying tight feeling after washing. Like others have mentioned, this is a gel consistency, so I always work water into it with my hands first to get it lathered up really well before applying to my skin. I have even used this 3x in a day before and my skin never suffered any consequences. The only thing that could be improved is the bottle design, because it sometimes leaks when traveling. I hope they never change this wash's formula though!!! continued >>

Update (03/31/12) My enthusiasm has waned for this cleanser. Not sure it cleanses as well as my HG, Sage facial shampoo.....so it's back to the Sage for me. It does leave a bit of a film....not sure why. Something's annoying my skin.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Simple's Refreshing Facial Wash is quite good....efficient foaming cleanser that doesn't dry the skin. There are just so few of these.

Not sure it'll replace my HG, Sage facial shampoo but I'll probably continue to use it and see how it goes. I find that the Simple is tears-free and can be used to cleanse off eye MU which is something I'm used to w/ the Sage.

Thumbs up! I can see why so many love it.

EDITED to add one complaint.....the tube leaks into the top if you stand the tube upright, top down. I find it annoying and now have the tube propped up w/ the lip upwards. I may dispense it into an empty bottle w/ a decent top.
