Can I profess my love for this product here?
I have hereditary fine lines and dark areas around my nose and mouth area that ages me. I also have rather deep fine lines around my eye area, usually exacerbated by fatigue caused by lack of sleep (aargh those essays and exams!).
I cleanse, tone and then use this serum all over my face. Seriously good stuff here. It fades my acne scars quite well and makes my face a whole lot brighter upon application. Also, with this simple routine sans the moisturizer, my oily skin no longer has dry patches (yes, this serum hydrates your skin) and breakouts are far less often. Even if I do breakout, it's usually just small pimples that go away after a day--a dab of Dalacin T. will do the trick. *touches wood so that I will not jinx my complexion*
This baby is more like a preventive measure. Well, it's never too late to start a proper skincare regime. This works for both me and my mom--my mom swears by this stuff. 3-4 drops per night--it's so simple and fuss-free. Though I'm using up the sample bottle that my mom gave me, with my next paycheck, I'm going to head down to the Estee Lauder counter and get a 50ml bottle for my own. I ever thought of getting Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate but since ANR is an all-rounder and does not break me out, this will be it!
I dare not call it my HG because I believe that there are even better stuff out there, but I usually do not try skincare products because of my acne-prone skin. Still, this has become one of my most trusted beauty sidekicks, and I see myself repurchasing this quality product for a long long time to come.
Estee Lauder, do NOT discontinue this. You've got a WINNER here.
UPDATE 14th APRIL 2012:
Onto my second 50ml bottle of ANR! I had a really bad skin reaction after a threading session as the beautician did not apply rosewater to soothe my irritated skin (normally she would, but it was a different beautician that time, ugh!) and my skin flared up, with angry little whiteheads popping up all over my face. My complexion was in a disaster, and I stopped using ANR for a while because I ran out of it. I bit the bullet and repurchased it and immediately, I felt the soothing sensation on my skin, and a month later, though angry hormonal acne are still there, my skin is much more "repaired" and healthier, though there is still a lot of immunity to be built up! FYI, my skin is really in need of repair due to harsh chemical treatments back in 2010 till early 2011. There IS a huge difference in my skin's texture and immunity when I use ANR and when I don't. I will continue to repurchase. I will update whenever necessary.

I really love this product, it is gently hydrating and restorative but I see it more as an insurance policy. I always have some on hand. Brilliant!

I work for Estee Lauder..out of all their products I have tried..this one is my favorite!!!..at night i cleanse, then use my toner and then I apply this serum and then i use my acne spot healing gel from clinique...i swear this is making my breakouts less often, and my acne scars are fading a lot faster than when i was using just the even skintone illuminator from Estee...i dont even use the illuminator anymore..this is the best repair product they have! when they say it is the "number one repair serum" they are not lying!!..i only sampled it before, but once i run out of my samples i will be getting this in my gratis!! looooove it!!!, i choose this or even skinton illuminator for repairing my acne scarring!!!!!!!

I can't give an honest review on the anti-aging 'preventative measures' claims, but i do like it under moisturizer. I *think* it has a brightening effect, seeing that my skintone is very even and bright... although any number of reasons can be attributed to that, e.g the good genes courtesy of my as yet unwrinkled parents, my regular skincare regime which includes an exfoliant every few days, my adamant protocol of sunscreen or staying out of sun when possible, good moisturizer, or my face masks every few days. So i can't be certain that this serum brightens or truly hydrates. However, as psychological, soothing reinforcement that perhaps i won't look like i came out of a train wreck in years to come, it is wonderful. What else would justify the unnecessary expenditures we vain and worried customers make?

Edit- when i use just this as serum i get small pimples under the skin. This is a recent thing, perhaps i have become sensitive to one of the ingredients? Rating dropped accordingly.
edit: just wanted to add that, for me, using rosehip oil in recent months has made an actual, significant difference that one can gauge: scars have faded, skin is smoother, under-eye lines are gone, no pimples. With ANR i still (when i use it) get pimples on occasion. With rosehip oil, nope. And with ANR the results are not cumulative--when it's on, it feels good, but if i stop using it for a day or so, my skin is back to normal.
With rosehip oil, the results are more lasting (to me anyway).
.btw as an aside--the whole patents pending worldwide thing is rubbish--you can patent anything and it doesn't make your product any better than any other product. Read beautyandthebullshit. Blogspot . Com blog on this (not affil)
So now, i sometimes use both, R.oil during the day, ANR at night-- just to use up my ANR, but once it's finished, I won't repurchase as I have found an all-purpose serum, better suited to me. If i was a rich old fart, I would use both, and if you ARE rich, I suggest that, as r.o. has actual documented antioxidant properties, vit c, vit e, all those naturally occurring whatnots--but ANR has hyaluronic acid and their ferment thingy--so a combo of the two sounds cool. >>>> continued >>

I got this serum in a GWP package and it sat on my vanity for some time. Serums and I don't get along too well. I think all but one (d/c'd Lancome serum) broke me out. So, I'm very cautious trying them. I can't rave enough about this serum. I am so happy I took the chance on this. This is what I call a serum because it has a perfect consistency. I've tried many drugstore and highend serums and they were either 1. too drying 2. too oily 3. too sticky 4. too siliconey or would make my skin peel. EL ANRSR serum glides on nicely and feels amazing on the skin. I had a real hard time trying not to stroke my cheeks. Soon after I applied this, my skin was instantly smooth, refreshed and hydrated. I was able to skip my night moisturizer because this serum gave my skin the perfect ph balance. The next morning, my redness and blochy spots were much less noticeable. But, what pushes this serum to the top of the line is the fact that it doesn't cause breakouts for me.
UPDATE: After continued use, all of my acne scars have vanished. I had a cluster along my jawline and now, they are almost completely invisible. Also, my skin is more even toned and I now only have one tiny patch of redness under my nose. Still, no breakouts. This is a miracle for my skin :)

I joined Makeup Alley because a) your reviews have helped me so much in the past, and b) I've been using this product for two weeks and just cannot believe its impact. I had to share, and I am not a gushy type of person. Honestly, however, this has worked a miracle on my skin!
I have oily skin which is acne-prone (blackheads on my nose, occasional whiteheads on chin or outer cheeks) but relatively good skin for my age. Yet as a woman in my mid-30s I also have tiny fine lines under my eyes which I *hate* and for which I have spent a zillion dollars trying eye creams. I bought this out of desperation, as my recent move to a desert environment has been wreaking havoc on my skin (it actually feels dry sometimes now).
Anyway, the under eye lines are gone. Completely. After two weeks! I'm sold. Yes, I know it's probably just the hyaurolonic acid temporarily plumping up the lines but I do not care - nothing else has done that, ever, not even La Mer eye cream. In addition, my face is so smooth and soft, and is absolutely glowing. I look like I just had a facial, but constantly. It's terrific. In addition, I have had zero breakouts after the first week (the first week I did notice a few additional spots), and my skin is much clearer.
I'm so thrilled to have found something that works so well at smoothing, hydrating and improving the glow of my skin.

I bought this in the 30 ml and my wallet cried it was soooo expensive I was in two minds about getting it but I bit the bullet and got it my skin has been looking dull and ashen almost somewhat grey lately I have always had good skin but after having kids and environmental hazards like the suns harsh uv rays has taken its toll I have noticed a slight smile line on my right side of my face and another tiny one forming,I'm only 24 and don't have any wrinkles other than the smile line but prevention is most indeed better than a cure I read the reviews on here and there appeared to be more good results than bad,I have used this twice and almost immediately I see my skin coming to life it brightens my dull ashy looking complexion almost as if I'd been given new blood as wierd as that may sound it really brings my skin to life I have however have extremely sensitive skin so i don't use a lot I just gently tap it on with my fingers its not a moisteriser so you don't rub it in,a little goes along away as its highly concentrated I'm going to be using this for the rest of my life, and I have very good faith in this product.UPDATE 27/11/2011 after five days of using this product it has broken me out in the worst possible rash I have ever seen particularly on my nose area and cheeks I have these tiny little dry red bumps and a red almost black dot on my cheek that I have never had before I'm so embarrassed and skin is under major construction right now I'm not saying this is a bad product maybe I'm not old enough to use it yet as I'm only 24 but my god this is an awful rash it did however often the tiny smile line but it came at a heck of a price I still have the 30 ml bottle untouched so I will probably use it when I'm 25 I just hope this never happens again:( UPDATE:07/2/2012 I have just turned 25 and I'm so glad I decided to keep using this when I first started it broke me out bad but I just kept on using it along with my other creams and I'm so freaking glad I did every morning I wake up to beautiful glowy dewy skin with not a flaw in sight I havint any lines yet but I was getting a slight smile line and now its barely noticeable I'm one of those people that don't believe in plastic surgery this stuff used with a good skin regime is enough to put the dermatologists and plastic surgeons out of commission, will I buy this again? HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!

Brought me out in HUGE spots, in places I don't normally get spots, middle of cheeks etc. To be fair the counter refunded me but beware if you have spot prone, sensitive skin.

Fortunately, I received this in a GWP. After using it for only three nights I have started to break out and I am not at all prone to blemishes. This is the only thing that is new in my skin care routine so I know this serum is the culprit. Glad I didn't spend $100 on this!
Update: I stopped using this and my skin has returned to normal. No more break-outs!

I wanted this to work for my skin but it broke me out.
Quick background - last year my skin broke out quite badly (don't know why...facial products, diet or hormones) and I went to the dermatologist who prescribed antibiotics for me. WIthin 6 months my skin is crystal clear - but super-sensitive...I am only supposed to use oil-free products - and the only thing that works for me are Neutrogena oil-free products (even Olay oil-free products leave my skin congested).
I tried this - it left my skin feeling smoother, but not necessarily plumped or anything. However, after 5 nights of use, I started breaking out. 2 red painful spots showed up on the first day, and 2 more the next day. I immediately stopped using this, and a week later my skin is back to normal - and the spots have disappeared.
Bottom line - if you have acne-prone skin, definitely try out a sample before you buy!
