This stuff is really nice. It gets all my makeup off (Double Wear and non-waterproof mascara). The smell is "crisp", but not bothersome. It foams quite well, and rinses off easily. For $6, I think it's a bargain. I have reactive skin, and I had no trouble with this.
I switch off between this & my aveeno cleanser. I would say this cleanser is a good 4 our 5. It does an excellent job with taking all my makeup off, well except for my waterproof mascara but that's an exception. Other than that, it smells really nice, kind of like apples. It lathers well and leaves my face feeling clean & refreshed. It can tend to be a litttle drying on occasion, but when it's paired w/ my cetaphil moisturizer my skin feels baby soft! I recommend this to anyone. I used to use the cetaphil gentle cleanser, but it sucks at taking off makeup so yup, Neutrogena is great :) Note that I do have acne-prone skin and scarring. This product does not irritate my skin.
Just did the review for Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and noted that it was my day cleanser; b/c this is my evening...I usually just throw on my workout gear and take a nice run after work (makeup and all) then hop in the shower and previously, I would always have a little makeup left over...2 pumps and my face is clean of all makeup AND it's non drying so my skin feels extra soft and smooth...loving the whole "Natural" thing and it smells like green apples
Do NOT buy this if you have sensitive skin. I took it home because I thought it be okay since it's mostly natural and didn't contain an acne treatment but as soon as I used it my skin started burning. I rinsed it off and my face was so angry and red that even moisturizer hurt. Turns out that it contains Benzyl Alcohol which is a know skin irritant and neurotoxin. And guess what else Benzyl Alcohol is used for? Lice treatment. Just goes to show that you always have to read the ingredients!
This stuff makes my eyes burn. It is also very heavily fragranced which I was not expecting and do not like. I was not expecting it to be fragrance free but the scent is too too much. I will finish the bottle as it is not totally horrible but I won't buy it again. It does remove makeup well including the Rimmel 25-hour long-lasting foundation.
I like this cleanser and find it a comparable, cheaper alternative to my other favorite - Fresh Soy Cleanser. Like Fresh, though, it's most effective when I use it with my other products as part of my on-going regimen. I would repurchase it.
Length of use:
I've been using it for about three months now.
Effectiveness / side effects:
A mild cleanser that does a good job of removing dirt and makeup. As after most cleansing sessions, my toner will usually remove the rest.
I've used it on my eye area without problems. I also use it to clean my brushes. Removes my foundation, blush, and eye shadow (though I apply these somewhat lightly). Was not effective in removing my mascara - I had to use an eye makeup remover for that.
For me, this is non-drying. I feel no residue left over after rinsing. Used with my other three products (a toner, moisturizer, and Persagel), it's been effective in preventing major breakouts and in keeping my face clear so far.
A little (dime sized) becomes a good lather, though I actually prefer the non lathering gel-like consistency of the Fresh Soy Cleanser...but it's a minor thing.
Light and pleasant.
My skin type:
Combination to very oily (when indoors for a long time). Tendency to be congested and to break out with large cystic acne.
This is my current night-time face wash. It works well and does take off foundation. I don't think that Neutrogena is always honest about its ingredients, despite its claims of having more natural ingredients in this cleanser, but I have not found anything negative to say about this. I tend to clean my face and then apply a small amount of jojoba oil all over, so I can't comment on whether this cleanser is drying or not. It beats Cetaphil and Oil of Olay Sensitive Skin Foaming cleanser, two prior faves, hands down.
It kind of dries out my skin if I use it more than once a day so in the mornings I use a gentle facial cleanser. other than that the smell is great! it takes off most of my eye make up and practically all of my skin make up such as foundation..
before using this i would always get these random whiteheads and pimples on my nose and forehead, etc. after using this for about a week they were almost all gone! miracle worker!!! ♥it! idk if it's because all i drink is green tea and water now but IM SURE this had something to do with it. anyways all in all its an amazing product and i would definitly buy it again!~~
Removes makeup very well!! I love the pear smell!!! Almost running out and I will buy this product until they don't make it anymore!!
First of all I really like the fact it smells like pears and it takes your makeup of very well. However I personally prefer something that targets acne since I'm in my teenage years. Other than that if your looking for a makeup remover I believe this is a very good one.
