I've always loves studio fix fluis---but extremely pale girls BEWARE. I've got Snow White skin, and nc15 used to work well for me but then began pulling yellow/a little too dark. I decided to try the new nw10 shade, hoping it would be light enough for me. Even this shade is too dark, and also pulls quite orange. I've got cool pink undertones but this is too orangey to compliment them. I have to mix this with a little bit of violet concealer to try to tone down the orange warmth. Other than the color still not being fair enough, the coverage is great, lasts a long time when used with a primer, and looks absolutely WONDERFUL in pictures (as well as in person.) Always get compliments when I wear this, and oddly with my hypersensitive skin it doesn't break me out or cause a reaction. I just wish they'd come out with shades light enough that you don't have to mix with white Face & body or anything else. Packaging sucks, for $28 a pump should be included. Especially for 1 fl oz. Overall, this is a great foundation. continued >>

Hey everyone! So I am new to all this.
My question is, I have been wearing MAC for years, simply because I have a yellow undertone, and MAC it the only brand that actually matches my skin tone. However, I cannot afford to keep purchasing MAC.
Does anyone have any drug store suggestions for the coverage and the true match that would be similiar to MAC?
I wear NC 40 in MAC!

First of all the worker at MAC matched me with a foundation that was one shade too dark. If I had gotten one shade lighter it would have been a perfect match. They have a large range of colors which is excellent. They also have foundations that are pink toned and yellow toned which is awesome. I am super yellow toned which makes finding a foundation quite hard. Many people talk highly about this product so I was super excited to try it out. I really wanted to like this product but it ended up not working out for me. It made my already dry/combo skin even more dry. I had these weird little dry patches and flakes on my skin when I wore this foundation. Yet at the same time my skin looked oily. This foundation also broke me out like crazy. I honestly don't recommend it to anyone but if you want to give it a try that's up to you. It works for a lot of people so maybe it could work for you too.

After ten years of trying every foundation under the sun including the most expensive and talked about foundations, MAC Studio Fix Fluid with SPF 15 is one of my favorite foundations for my very fair NW15 skin.
The secret to applying this VERY full coverage foundation is using a very damp beauty blender with one large drop the size of a pencil eraser on the blender and then dab it all over the face.
This foundation is VERY full coverage and a little goes a LONG way. So my one bottle will probably go bad before it runs out. I have relatively good skin with just a little redness and so this makes my skin look quite perfect.
I don't understand why anyone would want a lighter coverage as for me I have to use so much more product. MAC Studio Fix is a really great foundation using just a tiny dab and you're set! It is quite a bargain when you look at how little you need to get good coverage.
The only thing I would improve in this foundation is the bottle (please include a different dispenser) and the color is a bit yellow. A bit more neutral would be great.
Overall a great foundation where you will really get your moneys worth!
I was matched to NW 15 which is way too dark and orange for me. NC 15 is way too yellow. I don't use MAC foundations, but do like their concealer and other products. I have a bottle of this just sitting in my makeup bag. I sometimes mix it with white foundation but generally don't wear it. It's kind of sticky feeling, and smells terrible (kind of like house paint). It actually has the same consistency. For a super heavy look it works. I won't repurchase unless there is a color that matches me better. And even then it wouldn't be for everyday use. On the bright side, absolutely no need for concealer with this one!
I'm an NC35 in summer, and my skin is dry around the edges of my face and oily on my nose, and the rest is normal. I'm prone to small outbreaks of blemishes (once a month at most) on my cheeks and forehead. Nothing suits my skin better than this foundation. I mousturise my face with Aveeno mouisturiser, apply a cheap but effective Garnier under-eye concealer, and then pump a small amount of this foundation and blend it into my skin using my fingers. I then apply some Maybelline bronzer over my cheekbones using a stippling brush to avoid a cakey look and I finish by lightly dusting my whole face with MAC blot powder. All up, this entire routine takes about 5 minutes (practice makes perfect!) and my skin is flawless, photo-perfect and has a smooth matte finish that looks healthy and natural. This foundation actually looks better and better as the day goes on. My nose is very oily, however, and sometimes in the late afternoon I'll have to give it a light dusting of the MAC blot powder - but only once. If I'm going out at night I never have to touch up my daytime foundation because it stays perfect and lasts so long!

The lady on the MAC counter done a consultation and matched me with this foundation, when she applied it along with the consealer and powder I loved it and bought all 3 products on the spot! Much to my regret a week later! The first couple of days I wore the foundation I thought it looked good but within a week it had dried out my skin and left me looking like I had dry flakes below it which I have NEVER had before! so confused as to why this happened! Im left now with nearly a full bottle and I will def never use it again!!
Love the powder and consealer so I just switched back to a lancome foundation to use with these and thank goodness I look normal again ;)

This foundation is pretty decent. I dont love it like i do with pro longwear though. Now some people complain that it can be too heavy, but it really depends on how you apply it and how much you use. You really DO NOT need much to cover your whole face and this can be sheered out to light coverage. But i also love how buildable it is. You can skin concealer and use just the foundation.
It blends really nicely and evenly. I dries to a matte finish which is awsome for my t-zone and its also ok for dry skin as long was you use a cream moisturizer before hand. It gives a flawless finish. It lasts about 8 hours. After 5 to six hours i need to blot my nose, chin and forehead just a bit. After 10 hours, i do get oily.
I do not like the smell of the foundation. Its a bit strong but i can't smeel it after its applied. If you are sensitive to smell you may not like that since the smell is strong. I also think that people won't like how it feels. Its feels heavy which can be uncomfortable for some people.
It does transfer which is one of my biggest pet peeves. Its the one reason why i dont love this foundation. I have transfering. Nothing is more embarassing than hugging someone and seeing a blotch of your makeup on their shirt!

I bought this at my local MAC boutique at Nordstrom. The girl there seemed very helpful, but she shade matched me a terrible color. I think it was NC10. I cannot remember. I bought the full sized bottle and wore the stuff for about one week. It was so orange on me, I looked like I was wearing a mask of self tanner. No matter how much I tried blending it in. It also had a terrible rubbery odor!!! My husband said it stunk, I agreed. I am very, very fair Caucasian, pale you could say. I told the girl I needed the lightest color foundation that they had, apparently they don't make it any lighter than what I bought. Unfortunately I can't return it. Its horrible though. I would never use this again.

I really like this foundation, but I think honestly you need to get the right shade but there are a lot of dumbas* that work up at mac and don't know what the hell there doing. Mix two if you in between shades and wait for the shade to settle on skin, and do multiple swatches. You have to blend it in immediately, don't put dots. I use my fingers I found it easier to work with, its a love hate relationship sometimes I have a hard time working it in (but moisturizing and primer helps it go on wayyy smoother, I have dry patches sometimes)but I love the coverage it covers freckles and moles, and the staying power. Even though some say it melts off, I have put it under some pretty tough tests (aka all night partying/crashing out) and friends telling me my make-up still looks perfect. I like it and the SPF, and full coverage. I feel the mineralize powder does a lot for this foundation, too. I love the combination of this. I feel like mac isn't for novice makeup people, and people who like to apply stuff fast, you always have to take time to blend, blend, blend but the results are worth it to me. Honestly, I use this because the reliability I know its a good brand, the accessibility in many countries, and mainly it looks amazing on camera, I honestly recommend wearing this senior pictures, weddings, it looks really good on pictures. I think this is why a lot of people also don't like it is very done up and dramatic maybe to them for day to day use. But I agree with people there are better foundations out there, like Guerlain and laura Mericer.
